Does anybody know if you can just use a dvd player to do this, or do you need an actual external optical drive?
@TheUnwokeFool11 сағат бұрын
Nice content. You should check out an alternative to Audials called PlayOn / PlayonCloud. It is similar to Audials but does have a couple advanteges 1) Record on your own machine. Unlike audible, you can completely close the UI and let it record in the background. Even play games at the same time as it uses very little CPU 2) For about 15-18 cents, you can request a video from your phone and get it recorded in the cloud and downloaded to your PC. All why you are out of town if you want! The major disadvantage is that it is video only.

If I were to redistribute or sell the digital content to others it would be illegal. All I'm doing is making a digital copy for backup and personal use. I own my media. This way if a disc ever goes bad it's okay because I have it backed up and my money wasn't lost.

sorry my english is not good, I have some questions: 1. Can you explain to me more something about disney 480p? 23:22 like with Disney plus just can download the video with max is 480p? 2. Do they have Permanent license price for Audials Movie, I just see for Audials One, I mostly use for Movie? 3. And 1 payment just use for 1 PC or I can use for another PC? tks :)
@SteeleOfAllTrades17 күн бұрын
From my experience and my setup... 1. Disney + I can record in 480p most of the time. But since they also share stuff on HULU, if it is also on there you can get it at 720p (HD). Netflix is 1080p if it is a Netflix movie or show otherwise it is hit or miss if it is 1080 or 540. Most Sony productions are 540. 2. I'm not sure how just Audials Movie works. I can't even find how long the subscription is for on it. I assume one year but I couldn't even find that in writing. 3.) From my findings you can have it installed on several PCs at once however, you can only be using one PC at a time. I do not know if that is 100% accurate just based off some forums. Hope my answers helped a little bit at least. I'm using this mostly to build my digital library up. Yeah sometimes I get something in 540p but hey that's better than not having it... and later if it is available in higher definition then I'll get it again. That's how I view it anyways.

Each person can have their own Plex account linked to my media and being admin I can control who can see what so if a child had an account I could hide certain rated movies, and what not. Also, with individual accounts each person can like and favorite things how they want and it will keep their own individual watched progress. Much like a Netflix / Hulu setup.

I've been ripping my DVD collection for about a year now, and have never heard of handbreak! Can't want to go through and downsize the storage my collection is taking up, so I can fit more! I don't currently use plex, because I'm in an appartment with bad internet which makes streaming (even locally) very straining, so I currently use an external ssd to store all the movies and shows, which let's me watch on my computer, or I can plug it into my Roku tv and watch there. Eventually I want to build my own NAS and have a plex server running, but that's at least a couple of years out.
@SteeleOfAllTrades24 күн бұрын
Love to hear it! Over time it adds up. Note that whenever you do use handbrake you are compressing data so some quality will be lost. Experiment what works best for you and your viewing experience. DVDs in my experience are easy to compress a little without visible loss. Plex, jellyfin, using local external ssd all of it is the same to me, a victory! Along your NAS journey don't get too caught up in quality and remember why you are doing it. Some people get too caught up in quality and worry too much about bitrate, resolution, how many movies they have, you name it. Enjoy building your collection. Movies are for the stories and memories. Not getting them on your NAS in the highest resolution and quality just to sit there. Thanks for checking out the video, leaving a quality comment, and I wish you the best.

You need a pipe or double end wrench Technique to remove the belt or just get a wrench extender. You need at least 10 to 12 inches. To have enough strength to move that tensioner... Actually longer the better. Ten to twelve is enough for me at least. It's actually super easy

I'm about to take my power steering pump out. So I can get to the thermostat housing .. And since i'm at it might replace water pump...im at 90k I'm sure I could just put the power steering to the side. But I rather just take it out. Get it out of the way if I'm gonna do the water pump too. Looks easy enough to remove.. You're making the belt seem like it's hard to replace it's super easy.. In fact the alternator on this particular motor.. Is pretty daunting. But I could remove it from jacking up the car to fully removed and replaced within 30 minutes. I've done it multiple times. I found a trick in replacing the alternator the one bolt put A. Wire around so you can make a handle because you can only work with one hand. That handle you can hold with your right arm. Add manipulate the alternator with your left.. Once that one bolt is started.. It's smooth sailing.. The absolute hardest thing to do one. This car believe it or not tie rod ends.. Still having problems removing them On my six.. I've done just a butt everything to the car your name it ive done it... My problem right now immediate problem i've been open thermostat... Thank god it's open not closed... It's kinda funny going down the road And your temperature Never goes above 160.. But i'm getting beautiful heat from the heater.. I'm thinking maybe a bad temperature Sensor. But it's new I don't think it's the temperature Sensor.. I could feel the thermostat open. Unless i'm feeling wrong.. I'll start the car, feel the bottom hose. And keep my hand there... As the car runs.. Maybe four minutes later I'll feel the hot coolant Come out all at once. So to me it seems like the thermostat is actually working. Maybe i'm getting a false temperature reading.. I did replace the water outlet and temperature sensor About eight months ago

Really helpful in trying to figure out how to start. I have a few thousand videos I ripped over the last 20 years. Getting ready to setup plex to draw from my new NAS drive. Do you have a video about how you first setup PLEX. Is this an application you setup on your computer (I have a MAcBook) or is it a app operated over the internet. I see you have a movie favor, can you take a catergory and point it to more than one folder. For example ripped DVD movies, instruction movies, etc. Figuring out how to setup the NAS file structure.
@SteeleOfAllTrades28 күн бұрын
Whoo that's a lot of movies! Check out my latest plex video of how I get netflix and hulu stuff into plex. I have chapters and overview as if it were your first time in plex setting up folders and getting started. I think maybe 9 minute mark or so it begins. Check description on it for exact chapters. So the server program (to turn on / off) your server is seperate than the plex library. The library (where you access your content) can be an app or accessed from a browser. I use the browser for no special reason just always done it that way. If you want the app you can download it from their website. In plex I have my movies all in there in alphabetical order as you saw but there is a category section on the top and you can create your own category or collections like Back to the future collection, and there is no need for special folder structures for that as you can do it all in plex. Also, yes you can point a category to a folder even if another category is also pointed to a folder elsewhere. The better file structure you have the better it will be for the future so your doing a good job planning ahead. But ultimately you tell Plex the pathway to the movie files and if it ever changes its not too hard to tell it the change amd make the correction. Great questions! Hopefully I answered you okay if not let me know and I'll try again lol. Good luck on your home media journey! I love to see people get started in this no matter the approach!
@WalkersLawn18 күн бұрын
PLEX is awesome! I've been using it for many years. One thing to know is that if you want to watch it outside of your home with the app, you'll have to open a port for it on your router(port forward). You also have to allow it to pass through your firewall with a simple rule click in your Windows firewall settings. Otherwise, you won't have access outside your local network. You can find a few YT videos on how to do it. I have an HD Homerun streamer which allows OTA TV to link with PLEX which enables me to watch local TV over my home network and on my tablet or phone anywhere including is other states.

@SteeleOfAllTradesАй бұрын
Awesome to hear! I love hearing stories of people starting their media server collection. When you mention trimming videos are you talking about things like credits on movies or editing home video recordings?
@lorinda_WIАй бұрын
@ What I’m starting with is SlingTV and video on the DVR of movies I’ve recorded and would like to save off the DVR (and cut the monthly fee). (I have both the Cloud DVR as well as AirTV with attached storage for OTA). I figured out fairly quickly on how to stream and record the content , however I would like to trim or cut a few frames at the beginning and end of the movie so it’s tidy. (I’m sure the same would apply if cleaning up TV by removing the ads). I realize it’s not necessary to be that picky but if it’s not that complicated I’d like to do it neater than quicker. The cut versus crop and saving or exporting I haven’t managed to execute. Any instruction there would be greatly appreciated! I’ve recorded two movies so far and they look fantastic so I’m on the right track to getting everything organized and streamlined once and for all. Thanks again!!
@SteeleOfAllTradesАй бұрын
Looks like you already know! Awesome! Yeah, in this instance if It's taking off beginning or end snippets Audials can do that similar to the ad removal process you just click on the pen/edit of the file in Audials and then once you are on the edit screen select "cut" on bottom left and click on a part of the movie to make a "cut" and then again to make another "cut". after this range is made you can manually move/select the range of frames you want removed like I showed in the video of the ad removal process. Even if you don't record in Audials you should be able to link your media folder to Audials, then find it in the program. That's where you can click the edit button on the video. Idk if that was a good explanation lol. I am going to be making a video soon on cutting a file into several parts with importing/exporting into another free program soon if Audials doesn't work for you. BUT Audials is nice because in the editing mode you can see frame by frame visually what you are cutting. I don't judge. The more care and effort you put into your media collection and organization the more you appreciate it. I'm all for that. audials.com/en/blog/start/2022/audials-tips-how-cut-videos-and-create-own-playlists

I went down this rabbit hole too and then found the wonders of bill pay. At all the banks I’ve used, there’s a little section called “Bill Pay” and it’s completely free. No need to mail a check, the bank will do it for you! The water board was asking a $5 convenience fee to e-check from my bank account every month. With bill pay, $0. It’s as if I took the check straight to their drive through. With bill pay, you have the convenience of paying online, but none of the cost. Blu ray will give you higher quality or resolution than DVD. Blu ray is normally 1080 and DVD is normally 480. Personally, when I do Blu Ray I don't use handbrake. I will keep .mkv file. I only compress DVD because the data it saves and I couldn't see a difference.

@@SteeleOfAllTrades how badly do you find it compresses the Blu ray? also, what's the typical file size of a Blu ray disc compared to a DVD before you use handbrake Thanks for the tutorial 😃
@SteeleOfAllTradesАй бұрын
@@JoshuaEdwards-n5g Great questions! So, a blue ray is typically 1920 x 1080. After compression using handbrake with my same settings typically it will come out to be 1920 x 816. Don't get me wrong this is still HD. To a normal person if you do not tell them... They probably won't notice the difference. I usually only buy blu rays if it is a movie or series I love. File size wise DVD I would say 3 - 4 GB before and less than 1 GB after handbrake. Blu Ray has a lot more variance from my experience. Could be 10 - 20 GB maybe and after again it varies but could be 5 - 8 GB. It really differs on the amount of compression you do, type of file, subtitles, audio, and more. You could compress a 1080 blu ray to 2 GB if you wanted to and it might look okay on mobile but on a large widescreen probably hot garbage. If I buy a blu ray it's because I really like that movie and want to enjoy it in its HD quality in both audio and video that's why I tend to stay away from compression personally. I know you didn't ask but I don't even mess with 4k. I'm content with 1080. 4k is too much data for my current budget to be playing with.
