I read that Jokers were invented for euchre - how are they used?
@noworldorderforme10 күн бұрын
In the version played widely in the UK, a Joker is used as a 'super-trump'. No matter what suit is called, the Joker is the highest trump. This Joker card is referred to as the "Benny". If the dealer turns up the Benny on the top of the stack after dealing the cards, then they must call a trump suit without first looking at their hand. Tradition has it that the first time a novice player encounters this situation, they must choose the same suit for the rest of their playing career. This is just a tradition and not a rule of the game. Some people choose the two of spades as an alternative to a Joker card as the Benny. This might be a holdover from very early card decks which were sold without Jokers.

I wonder if the friend has tried to define the meaning of poetry, or the difference between poetry and prose. Is poetry merely prose That is written In such a way That it never Uses The whole line?

That was so interesting! I loved hearing about the way Elizabeth Strout writes her books and how long and deep was her search for the truth from which she writes

It's a good reading. However, it was not written by Edgar Allan Poe. Not according to my research, conducted over the past ten years or so on this point. I've concluded that Poe's claim to it was a scam, similar to today's identity theft scams. The real author had been Mathew Franklin Whittier, brother to the Quaker poet John Greenleaf Whittier, who wrote it in December of 1841 based on real-life circumstances.

Is that a laugh tape going off If so it may have been recorded during a church service, where likewise, no one really knows what their reaction is suppose to be. Mr. Collins might spare himself some awkward moments if he would train himself to fart on command at the end of every poem.A loud banging of a fart that would alert the people that the it was over. .and that they can now applaud.

I was sorry to hear he'd been credibly accused of sexual misconduct and stalking. It really hurt to find out he had such bad judgement. I still listen to some of the old shows but it's not the same knowing what we know now.

I might ask the writer to consider that much of his audience appears to be affluent due to their ability to use their intellect, and that regardless of background, all of his audience remains loyal and appreciative throughout their life. I would ask the writer to consider the question, if this truly is intellectually, weak, how was it possible for him to have such a loyal for their lifetime audience? There has to be more to it than what most people gather on a first impression. I mean, with that kind of audience there has to be. It might be interesting to dig a little deeper

Gosh Anne Patchette is so boring and a bad interviewer...she's projecting her bland views on Glennon and it's like she's trying to cut her down to size like a mom would a bratty child who thinks she knows better..it's so frustrating coz she does this with most people she interviews including Elizabeth Gilbert although Liz can ward off her stupid remarks better

I love how she calls Lincoln, TR, FDR, and LBJ her “guys”, like they are her family. She brings their humanity to the forefront along with their übermensch-ness or virtuosity, (to crib Nietzsche or Plato). I would also love to be a dinner guest with Jon and Doris.
