Obviously scripted as I never heard about this alleged "Family Orchestra". Too funny.

La peggiore interpretazione di sempre. Giovanni Paolo Bottesini si sta rivoltando nella tomba

At 9:19 there is a newspaper clipping with a Dachshund dog in the forefront. Mouzie was her name. Check out this 49 second video from 1955. Arlene is pregnant (with me!) and the puppy running around is the same Dachshund! . . . as pointed out to me by dear AuntieMoMo! kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKHEd5hqjcyAgac

I remember the Pachs from my time at UNB when I was just 17 - their complete Mozart sonata cycles were great. I approached Arlene who helped me obtain some piano scores through her staff at Memorial Hall. I went on to study piano and violin with many teachers and it's hard to believe that was 33 years ago when I furst heard them!

Oh my goodness is this ever bizarre Shawn! I just saw your comment today and you know what I also came across today? ONE (just 1) of their Mozart Sonatas: No: 10 in B flat. I'll load it up to KZbin tomorrow. Have you subscribed to their playlist? I'm not sure how KZbin notifies people, but will you be notified when I load it up for you? Thank you for your touching memory. Laurie

@@LLPach You're very welcome! And what a coincidence about finding that Mozart after I commented about their Mozart cycle - hmm maybe not ... I am subscribed to this channel, but am not sure about any other Pach channels. I look forward to hearing that Mozart! Side note - Joseph Pach's Mendelssohn concerto, posted here on this channel I believe, was one of the most original interpretations I've ever heard - you can't play it in a straightforward manner after hearing that! I'm going to listen to it again tonight. I remember Arlene giving a little talk describing a work they were about to perform at the lunchtime Mem Hall concerts - Joe tapped his violin a little bit and smiled nervously, then Arlene cut the talk and got to business! That was a funny moment - I'll never forget them - almost 52 now and heard them when I was 17. Good memories!

the gran duo is for two basses and not violin and bass

It has been been adapted to violin and bass, viola and bass, cello and bass, and bass and bass, but it’s played by violin and bass 99% of the time. In fact, Bottesini performed it with instruments other than violin only a few times.
