So nearly ALL of your customer support and problem solving bandwidth for the entire company, Should have eyes on this... --4 Months Later... Agreed! The brush off was frustrating, especially since my entire point to them was "we ARE seeing an issue." The transient problem seems to have been resolved, although I have noticed some odd readings lately. I need to dissemble that connector *again!* to check. For the record, neither Carli nor SDi followed up with my trailing emails on this issue. I think most folks ignore it or give up, which is unfortunate. It is a great product, well made and executed. But the idea that "they" couldn't be at fault is a problem in my book. Oh, and insult to injury I saw Carli post on social media a week later bringing a truck into their shop that they told me was closed to the public, for someone who appeared to have simply bought the wrong setup and was unhappy...

Hey. Great vid. I am curious about the Anderson connection near the hitch. I don't understand what you are doing there. Truck charging trailer batteries while towing?
@ourfunctionalfarmhouse
@ourfunctionalfarmhouse 10 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! Sorry about the confusion, we have a Victron Orion 30/30 amp DC charger for our toy hauler mounted on the tongue of the rig: so the truck is adding to the solar while driving for the coach battery. While the 7 pin connector has a 30 amp fuse for power, it just isn't enough for our lithium battery needs. If we are towing 9+ hours, the coach will likely be drawing 30 amps consistent the entire drive. Which is why we added the 50 amp circuit with 6ga wire, giving us peace of mind that we won't overload the circuit. The fridge alone is a solid 300 watts while running on the inverter in electric only mode, which is about what the Orion can add to the battery.

@@ourfunctionalfarmhouse Oh wow. That is interesting. I need to keep this in mind when I upgrade to the new 5th wheel! Is the connection under the hood connected to the alternator directly? W/ or w/o an isolator?
@ourfunctionalfarmhouse
@ourfunctionalfarmhouse 10 күн бұрын
@@dustin9537 We are connected directly to the battery. The Victron charger detects anticipated alternator voltage before it connects, so it won't drain the truck batteries at all. We don't have much experience with other brands, and they may or may not behave similarly. If we added a video tour of our RV electric, would that help at al?

Update 12/5/2024: after six dealer appointments, ten dealer visits, two Star Cases, and dozens of hours on the phone/shuffling to the dealer, we finally have a new navigation module. Stellantis did not cover it under warranty, and the dealer only offered 70% goodwill. So far it seems to be functioning as intended, finally. We shouldn't have had to got through this mess for over six months, plus the expense of almost $700 out of pocket to correct what we feel is a known flaw in the 2022 UConnect 5 system.

@@ourfunctionalfarmhouse I am so sorry, it was not my intention to criticize. I admired how you portioned the meals and broke down the cost. Costco and Sam's Club were my go-to when I lived out West. They were great value, especially the premium meats. Their fillet mignon were HUGE, and exceptional value. In regards to the flank and skirt steaks, I think they have great taste and at times, I would grill them with shrimp, fajita style. My remark about the generator: I have friends and family in the South, and they lost a lot of food because of power outages after the hurricanes. Apologies...I will do better in my comments.

Looking at doing this for my MiniMax Conveggtor. It developed a crack halfway through the flat part, and I'd like to stop it before it becomes two halves.. Online people are saying to use Furnace Cement, but the manufacturer is saying use Refractory Cement, specifically the "Castable" variety which doesn't require heat to cure. I think I'll stick with the regular heat cured Refractory Cement that you used, specifically because the Castable variety is far more expensive and only comes in one size. None of them are food safe, but I don't cook directly on my Conveggtor anyway. How has this held up so far for you?

@ourfunctionalfarmhouse
@ourfunctionalfarmhouse Ай бұрын
At the time filming, I think all of the suspension parts, rims, and tires were about $13,500 with CA sales tax and freight. If you went with something like Innov8 wheels, this could go up substantially. Those are sexy AF, but don't have a higher load rating than the Racelines we bought. This does not include tire mounting or any other labor for install. I pieced as much via DIY as possible.

Well, I can sympathize. I had a small peripheral involvement in iDrive. I worked with one of the engineers who implemented that, and I told her how to get it to start fast. I also worked for the company that does/did the current GM system. I don't own one myself, but I've rented a Sierra 1500 and two Suburbans and let my former coworkers know that their system worked great for me. They use a secure embedded operating system that keeps the outside world out of the vehicle network completely. But I own a Grand Cherokee. The infotainment is shit. I drive things until they can't be fixed, so my 2014 Jeep is at 229.000 miles today. The bluetooth eventually connects. It works better if you don't ask it to do anything else, so I use a tablet for navigation, and my phone as a hotspot. There was/is a solution that wedges another computer between the screen and the Stelantis garbage. I don't know if that can be done for yours. Frankly I am surprised you bother with the 'connected' services. In 2018 I crossed the country and though I should buy updated maps for the navigation. When I paid more than an external GPS with frequent map updates would cost I expected current maps. Their latest update in 2018 was 2013 maps. That's the last dollar they got from me. I also had a Ford Expedition for two weeks. I remember when the Ford was just as bad, but Ford fixed their shit. I had low expectations, but had brought my phone and a 64GB USB with music on it. In the past that would choke a Ford, and their Mach system took ages to connect and often had to be restarted by stopping, getting out, closing and locking the car, waiting for the lights on the USB connectors to go out, then starting again. I was shocked when I connected the phone in the rental lot and the music player resumed what I had been listening to on the flight. More shocked when I put the USB drive in and it showed me the contents. Amazed when I had stopped for gas and when I restarted it continued playing from USB within seconds. My Jeep won't do that. Sometimes my jeep won't let me play any audio. I too ran into them online. They haven't answered questions in a decade. I got a call after service and the woman who was talking to me actually admitted that her job was to placate angry customers, but there was actually nothing she could do, and nothing would result from my complaints. All I can say is that I eventually got value from the Jeep. But I won't buy anything else from them.
