We absolutely love this super-upbeat melody. And this trumpet performance by Horst Fischer is really bright and uplifting. Composing an arrangement with a vocal chorus track works very well. The key change at about 2:15 further adds to the emotional impact of the song.

Too bad Capitol records didn't have enough planning to tune the piano before doing a live recording.

I love this song! Reminds me fondly of my childhood memories growing up in Long Island. My parents had this album and played at the many block parties we had! Oh to go back to the early 60's!

Perfect, languid sound. The marimba has a magical tonality and goes great with anything. "More" strongly recalls that wonderful time in 1963 when Kai Winding had a big instrumental hit with it while Vic Dana had a big vocal hit. Song of the year really. I really liked the ending on Vic Dana's version. It likely influenced the ending of "In My Room" by the Beach Boys. Kai's came out in June, Vic's and Brian's in October of that year almost concurrently. JFK was still alive. Beatles just around the corner. Baja Marimba Band was early with their version a few months later. This music will live on.

¡Woooow! Great group and a very different and interesting version of this song. Never heard of them before but for sure, i'll be listening all their discography.

One thing I end up doing as well after using the main valve, is "roll" the buttons a few times pointing the horn at the ground while blowing into the horn. Then, I turn the horn so the bell is up and continue to turn the bell so the bell is now pointed at the ground and a whole bunch of condensation just rolls out the bell that I am never able to get out of the main valve. Just visualize water being in there and turn it so that it can pour out of the bell.

Thank you Jeannie for those extra hints. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "roll the buttons". I'd love to see a video from you demonstrating it.

I loved playing this piece with the Illinois All-State Band (can't remember if it was 1981 or 1982) I would love to know more about other music composed by Michael Francis--it's hard to find on the web because searches for "Mike Francis" inevitably turn up the Italian singer with the same name.

John, please notice that Mike Francis himself commented here on this recording 3 years ago. He signed in as @michaelfrancis8958. Perhaps you could contact him directly.

The awesome thing about these old records besides how great the music was is how amazing the album art work was. They are a treasure as well.

I have this record. My grandfather willed it to me bc he knew I would never paer with it. To this day, every few months I break it out with a glass of scotch. Jazz at its best!
