No, mounts to inner hood frame structure and vehicle frame at hinge point. This will not hurt the hood and is designed to fit in a space available in closed position.

I ordered these, snd it came with different bottom lugs. Whats up with that? They were a pain to put in, and seemed like they were a universal type bracket.

Please contact us at Redline Tuninng. Our first version used ball studs as shown. We quickly revised system to a custom fit bracket that will work on both Colorado and Canyon trucks. There is another KZbin video up with that revision, this the first. You received our latest design.

Bracket is attached to strong hood hinge assembly, very secure.

I just installed a snorkel on my at4x and my redline struts wont work with a snorkel , if someone wants it let me know Ill gladly sell them for half hit me up. its always someing

After installing the Hood QuickLIFT ELITE system on my 2009 Tacoma DLT (Dad's Last Truck, ordered new by Dad, to be taken care of by this dad for his kids), it looks like I'll be ordering this for a daughter's 2021 Ascent, with her assent, and my labor included. Every time I pop my hood, I'm surprised and disgusted that there is a prop rod on this particular vehicle. I'm glad there's a nice solution that should have never been an issue in the first place.

This will also solve a problem with opening the hood too far and popping the plastic piece out of wack on the passenger side near the wind shield.

This is awesome. I have the GMC Canyon on order and one of the common reviewer's complaints is that the hood doesn't have a standard lift assist. I assume that this is the same/compatible with the GMC Canyon and will most def be doing this to my truck. Thanks for sharing. I will be passing this along to other owners.

This system as first released will not work with the Canyon models. The hood is a bit different and will interfere with the struts in closed position. We are working on a solution, but the Canyon will likely be released as it's own part number. Our website is the master for the latest release information.

Just installed this.Only thing is it needs fender washers for the mount on the fender to spread the load out.Instead of wedging in the slot

I installed these about a month ago, after having the brand "S" no drill type. The no drill type started bending the sheet metal on the inner fenders, and eventually would have failed. These Redlines installed relatively easy except for the riveting. My smaller hand riveter did not work very well. (A pneumatic riveter is used in the video) I purchased a 16 inch hand riveter at Harbor Freight, and the rest of the installation went well. These Redline Tuning struts work very well, and I am quite pleased with not having to work around a prop rod to do even basic maintenance checks.

One mistake on the measurements & the drilling of the holes the vehicle is jacked up.. I will keep using my hood stand it's not like I am constantly under the hood these gas rods are for the lazy.
