That thing sounds so awesome. It's too bad it doesn't have a headphone out. I play thru a clean amp now using pedals, but I need something to practice with and play at small clubs which usually require no or very low stage volume. So I need something to replace my current setup, but something I can use to practice with as well with headphones. That sounds so good though that it is very interesting. How does it feel? Like a tube amp? I'm old (63) and still catnip to the ladies 😂. and I have played tube amps over the years and need that feel too!!! ❤ Great demo sir. ❤❤

Mine was setup fine out of the box. Low action with no buzzing. The only flaw and a pretty big one in my opinion was the trem. It would not stay in tune and the fine-tuners were very coarse and rough to turn. I had to constantly loosen the screws on the nut and center the fine-tuners. I had an old Floyd-Rose special laying around and installed it. Now it stays in tune and I haven't had to recenter the fine-tuners once. I don't know if this is the case with all of these, but if a guitar is already two grand just charge a little more and install a decent trem. at the factory.
@JasonHobbsGuitarist11 күн бұрын

Hello! I recently bought the same guitar, and I noticed that, unlike my '61 SG, this one came with higher action. Did you make any changes to your guitar's setup? Do you usually play with low, medium, or high action? Thanks! 🔥🔥🔥
@JasonHobbsGuitarist14 күн бұрын
@@AndersondiazG hey, I owned the 61 SG custom shop as well before this one. My 64 was setup much the same, comfortable action, not super low, I prefer 5/64″ at the 12th fret for the low E string, measured from the top of the fret to the bottom of the string, 3/64″ for the high E string. Use the thumb wheels on the ABR-1 bridge to set these heights. A slight relief in the neck as well. Do this first, then set your action height. I do this by fretting the first fret, use a capo on the 1st fret. Then fret the fret on the low E string on the first body fret where the neck joins the body. Measure the gap at 7th fret, it should have a slight gap from the fret… if it’s touching you have to loosen the truss rod, if it’s too Much gap you need to tighten the truss rod. Also you could email [email protected], they should be able to give you factory setup specs on the guitar. I setup mine to the above specs. Good luck! ✌️

@JasonHobbsGuitarist Thanks for responding! I’m a new subscriber to your channel, and first, I wanted to congratulate you on such a beautiful guitar collection. About the SG, I usually set up my guitars myself; it just seemed curious to me that my guitar came with higher action from the factory. However, I have to say it didn’t feel uncomfortable. I also noticed that the humbucker ring is a bit wider than on a '61 SG Reissue USA, and I wanted to know what your experience was like when you first played it, and if you made any special adjustments. Best regards!

Great playing! I've been looking to pickup on of these so I could give my R9 Les Paul a rest from gigging all the time...:) What tweaks did you have to do to keep the tuning stable? Do you still like it after all this time? is the tuning stable or do you have to constantly mess with the microtuners? I've played some used ones that the setups were just so messed up. Not many music stores have these in stock, so I'll have to checkout Sweetwater or other online shops to pick one up.

I wish you had dimed the gain on that channel. I want to hear if the Rhythm Channel behaves like an old early '70s Marshall when dimed and you use your guitar's volume control to access clean tones. To my ear, clean tones sound best when the amp's power section is involved in the sound. Almost any tube amp will sound very clean if the power stage is not doing much work. Most demonstrations of hi-gain capable amps ignore or just gloss over the clean sound those amps can make, afraid its going to scare viewers away. Jason... I'm glad you took the path that most guys don't or won't take where clean channels are concerned. I used to have an EVH 5150III and I thought its clean channel was the best of the three. You'd never know that from guys who just want distortion and shred sounds. It gets BORING! The wanking should stop so we can hear the amp, not their prowess! Can I beg you to revisit this topic and dime the Rhythm Channel gain on this amp and the MCII MKII, if you still have it? Pretty please!!! I'm a Subscribed devotee! :-)
