And the point of removing branding is....what, exactly? The only reason; To discriminate against collectors. If this was about "health" then the same would've been done decades ago with alcohol, yet alcohol is still advertised, has colourful attractive packaging that targets youth, can come in single bottles/cans, some are ridiculously cheap, alcohol retail displays are allowed, you can get prizes, specials, promotions etc on alcohol.....shall I continue mentioning how utterly hypocritical anti-smoking laws are? What's with the hatred of smoking, but love of alcohol????? From 2008 to 2018, cigarette packets had a mandatory pictorial health warning. For me, the colourful packaging made the pictorial warning stand out more despite it being small, but now because of the army green colour, the pictorial warning hilariously doesn't have the same effect even though it's a bigger size. Having a bland colour gives the illusion that the image is also dull. The issues with plain packaging: - It over exaggerates what the product can do. Some smokers have been known to live to quite a decent age despite being a smoker from a young age. Stop with the unnecessary fear mongering! It doesn't exist on alcohol packaging, so why only on tobacco packaging? - I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M BUYING! Without branding, how am I to know what I'm smoking, or even if it's legitimate or counterfeit? Some variants are very similar to each other. Without branding, I don't know if I'm buying the same one or not. With branding, I would be able to identify what I've already bought and what I haven't. - With so much emphasis on the health side, I don't know what I'm smoking. At least have the decency to tell me a bit about the tobacco company and the history of the cigarette. AFTER ALL, ALCOHOL COMPANIES DO THIS, SO WHY CAN'T TOBACCO COMPANIES?! There is no justifiable reason for plain packaging to exist. It is nothing but pure hypocrisy, discrimination, and hate! REPEAL plain packaging law, and bring back tobacco retail displays! After all, alcohol is on display, and in some places porno magazines are fully on display where MINORS can EASILY gawk at! There's no excuse to maintain the ban on tobacco retail displays!
