I just got a Bernette 46. I've only seen putting oil around the bobbin case. Where else should it be oiled?

I found another way to deal with this problem without the tape. Just before sewing the basting box, while holding the needle thread in your hand, press the button on the front of your machine that lowers/raises your needle. This will bring the bobbin thread to the top. Pull gently on the needle thread to bring the bobbin thread out. Then, you just hold both the needle thread and bobbin thread in your hand while starting the basting box. This is just another way, but the tape works too 😊

Thankyou Jeff I have just purchased a new Bernina as my little 125 needs some TLC. I have spent hours looking through the manual trying to find how to use the creative consultant. All it took was 7 minuits of your lovely video to make everything crystal clear. I have followed you for a while and have learnt so much thanks again.

Thank you! I recently broke my Bernina 750qe (my “I can’t drive 75!“ or “75” for short because she can stitch so fast) bobbin door. I had been sewing w/ my machine on top of sewing cabinet on the advice of my Physical Therapist which was helping reduce my back pain. But I stood up & inadvertently pressed down on the removeable tray, causing it to jam. My dear husband was able to remove the tray w/o breaking it, but damaged the bobbin door. I took my ‘75 for servicing, but they have to order a new bobbin door for me. The tech taped it back on like I had it… but I was reluctant to sew until she was properly put back together. So thank you for your video! It’s so timely for me… and reassuring I CAN drive ‘75’ without hurting her!

The KF Bernina 475 QE is my third Bernina. I have always been a satisfied customer but the technology on these new machines is extremely daunting for my 82 year old brain. I appreciate the videos but I sometimes think that you need to have a degree from MIT to sew. I wish I had my 1230 back.
@punkinsmom536010 күн бұрын
that is great information, however I get error message saying top thread is out all the time even with a new spool of thread and full bobbin. I turn of that eyeball for the upper thread then I get an error message saying not to do that. so what is causing this?

I’m a textiles student right now and I am fresh to a Bernina machine I got off eBay. I genuinely felt crushed that this error kept coming up, I didn’t want to spend more money on a recently serviced machine I just got. Thank you so much for your videos!! Your stuff has been so helpful 😅

Jeff, I would like to ask what Bernina model do you think is the most reliable sewing machine?
@berninajeff10 күн бұрын
It depends on your type of sewing projects. The 4 series do not have as many features to go wrong.
@sarahguidry980210 күн бұрын
@@berninajeff Thanks for your opinion. I have just taken my third 770qe+ to the Bernina repair shop in the same number of years. Number 1 started sewing backwards. They gave me their demo machine. The demo machine (Number 2) started sewing backwards. When it came back from the repair shop they kept it to use as their demo machine and gave me their newest demo machine (Number 3)to take home. While sewing on Number 3 it completely froze up with a screen that reminded me of an old TV when a tube blew. I had to hand crank to get the needle up and use the knee lift to get my fabric out from under the presser foot. Frustrating is putting it gently.

Why are sewing machine prices kept such a secret? Love watching your videos. Thx.
@AngelaJonesQuilts11 күн бұрын
It's the agreement that the manufacturers require us to sign & agree to. If we don't, we can lose our right to sell that brand. It's called "minimum advertised price". Dealers can sell machines for less, but we can't advertise it. I think its so that large dealers can't force small dealers out of business. A larger volume would mean they could make a smaller profit on each sale and still have a prifitable business. As a side note, Jeff often sells our machines for less. I hope I explained that ok. Please ask if you have more questions. Thanks for watching!
@nancybenolkin471111 күн бұрын
@@AngelaJonesQuilts I get that, but why do the manufacturers do that? It’s so aggravating. I’m not in the market for another machine in my life but just used to make me want to pull my hair out.

@@AngelaJonesQuiltsthe video showing all your upcoming classes is full of fun! If I may, as a fellow pro in the field of videography, please clip your clip on mic to your main speaker. Get a hand mic for passing around. They do not cost that much. The sound quality would be greatly improved by not handing off the lapel mic. And your mic will last longer if its not handled so much. Love all your projects, wish I lived nearby! Best of success to you.

Good morning. My wife powered up her 790+ after a few months of storage and other than a flash of light from the needle area and then a steady light on in the bobbin lid, there is nothing. The screen does not show any life at all, and no noise from the machine whatsoever. When we power it with the embroidery unit attached, it does make a "cachunk" sound of the unit getting power. We did try leaving it on overnight but it would not boot up. We have taken it to the Bernina repair shop where they have given us a $1300 estimate for a "new CPU." As I have not seen one remark anywhere on the internet of anything other than "leave it for a bit" and certainly nothing mentioning a CPU replacement, I thought I would ask your advice. Sorry for replying to such an old thread but I could not see one more relevant Thanks
