Purchased it two months ago to fight my addictions to passive consumption of media. It truly works wonders. The hardware itself discourages use for videos, which I've found are the main issue and largest time-consumer in my life. With the right setup it does wonders. However, one big downside is the battery life. It can drain quickly when using it like you would a normal smartphone. Definitely worth trying tho!

This is exactly what i need!!! Maps, Spotify, whatsapp, very limited socials. Do you know if it’s compatible with smart watches like garmin or samsung? And how is the bluetooth capability?

Thanks! 🙏 I’ve not been able to get my Garmin watch to pair, but I’ve been told to try a workaround, which I’ll do and test! Bluetooth wise, all works well on headphones and speakers etc.

I just bought it, I wanted to go back to a flip phone, purely for nostalgic reasons and much less screen time on my phone, but I still wanted to have whatsapp and Spotify so I hope I like it 😅

This phone is awsome. you have and run what is essential, at the same time the display could be reduce to its min. I got a second battery from Aliexpress and printed (3D) a charging dock using the pogo pins to charge the phone!!!

Hi Joseph 👋, i cant remember if I've already asked this question as i know ive asked some things before but will the Cat S22 run the Google Parental Controls ? As if it can (and it works) i want to get these for for my 2 Children for their first phones (instead of smart phones) a vid on this and setting it up and working (being able to track the children etc) would be great 😊 thanks 👍

@ Hi many thanks for taking the time to photo the carrier of the micro SD card, but not what I was asking… sorry. I was asking what sort of Micro SD Card does it take? 1gb, 10gb 100gb - U1, U2, C10. SDHC SDXC….. Fitting the wrong type will cause it not to work properly. I assumed you had already installed one to expand the internal memory. Sorry for any confusion. Cheers

Haaa, that's my bad! No probs, I have a few kicking around, think a 16GB and a 32GB card, so will test them and get back to you mate! Will also post all the other info on the cards as I know the U1, U2, C10. SDHC SDXC etc is important too!

Best little phone out there. I now have 4 of these. 1 for the wife, myself, and a couple just in case they ever stop selling them. I won't bug everyone with all the uses I have for the PTT (walkie talkie) button here, but these are super durable, great phones, that do everything you need while keeping you from just being glued to them all the time. I've beat the daylights out of mine at work and it just keeps on. Can't recommend them enough. Especially for the price, you're nuts if you don't buy and try at least. Just return it if you don't like it for some reason. Thanks for another great video on my fav phone!! :)

This isn't a dumbphone, that looks like Android and you only use the touchscreen part completely avoiding the physical buttons. So you could have a phone that doesn't have parts that you don't use, has better performance, and doesn't have problems with things not fitting on screen even with default apps and all that for much cheaper price.

This defeats the whole purpose of having a dumb phone in 2025. If you have everything you normally have in an android phone, but with a worse screen, camera, keyboard experience, battery, then just get a normal phone and put a minimalist launcher on top or something. At least then you can actually use the apps that are useful. Also I imagine typing on that thing is a nightmare.

@Chromyst-oy4jd I don't think that if you are struggling with internet addiction to the point of having to switch to this phone, the smaller screen is going to prevent you from using it just as much. Ever heard of app timers?

right? I mean i can see how actual dumb phones would run heavily modified versions of android just so some apps work, but this is just a smaller normal phone with a useless lower half. It would kinda be a dumb phone (to me) if it had no touch screen and an actual UI that was optimized for use with the rest of the phone.

@@DumbphonesUK Please try and show how you can flash GSI ROMs on the S22 Flip. I believe people have had varied levels of success (some people have had issues with the keyboard , mobile network and I think the outer screen won't work anymore) with unofficial builds of LineageOS 18-21 but there are no videos on this as far as I'm aware

welcome bro try both lineage os and pixel os or similar gsi builds and compare it to stock rom in terms of battery life and performance if you use google apps and banking apps daily using lineage rom as a daily driver will not make much sense but might work well and any pixel based aosp builds with gapps can have google features too improved performance but compare its battery life to stock rom and share your experience thank you

It's interesting to see how Android (and app developers on Android) handles such a small screen. I think, I would probably turn the DPI down a little, but otherwise it works quite well. I might have to consider a phone like this one day if I decide to use it less. Do many apps play nicely with the directional buttons (i.e. not using the touchscreen?) I imagine it's quite hit or miss.

You'd imagine right, it's a little hit or miss. Flashscores, for example, as seen in the video, skips the odd match if I use the buttons, but I'd say it's about 70-80% hit.
