I was born in 95. I was probably an infant when this performance was made. Hope I'm not out of place, but uncle Mike(the bass) would have gotten it from me had I was age appropriate at that time. The deep voice was everything, plus he was a fine man overall

This was one of the groups that made me loose concentration in school.I loved them so much.Their music kept ringing in my head even when in class.Commodores was Power house in 70s.I never liked the idea of Ritchie going solo.I felt it was a big blow.

The Commodores were my music idols growing up. Over the years there sounds shifted more to the Love ballad side, and then Lionel Richie‘s solo career took off for many more years after that. I had almost forgotten the fire, energy, and imagination of their funk sound, which was their early calling card. That got lost as the music scene changed. So nice to be able to remember it here again. Thank you for posting this.

@marybynum7642 I'm also from Tuskegee, AL. I grew up right there on the campus of Tuskegee Institute (now University) and I remember watching the Commodores rehearse all those great hits on campus before they left to go on tour. Seeing that concert video brings back so many memories from days gone by. So proud to be from Tuskegee, born and raised.

I am from there too. We moved away when I was eleven years old. We used to come back for the holidays some years. One time when we were back, I actually saw Lionel in the Chicken Coop! lol! His mother lived around the corner. He couldn't have been nicer ❤❤❤
