Is it worth purchasing na tool to remove the nib to clean and lubricate the piston from the front end?

How have you enjoyed the 3 vs 8b? Has the 3 flared section been a bother at all? And has either sealed better than the other? Any long term use quirks you’ve noticed? I like them both but torn which to buy myself. Thanks!

Hell yeah. I have two of these: one is fitted with an adjustable No. 6 Wahl Eversharp Doric nib; and the other with a No. 2 Waterman nib circa 1920.

I bought this exact pen and boy do I love it. Smooth writing, eye dropper filling which make it simple and easier. Gold plated nib with the M nib size is just perfect for me. The retro looking design is icing on the cake.

What is a Fude nib?
@mattsadventureswithart5764Ай бұрын
From the look of it, the end of the nib is bent upwards. Can get different lines with, perhaps?

I think fude means "brush" in Japanese. These nibs write very broad when written like a normal pen and thin as you increase the writing angle.

Lovely review. I use Noodler's Black mainly for illustration. I generally ink over my pencil outline and then erase the under drawing with a pencil eraser. I find in the process a bit of Noodler's black also gets erased. How is HOD in this regard? Does it lose its saturation when you erase over it?

I am having a weird air pocket preventing the ink from going into the section on mine. I have done all the things the folks at penbbs told me to do. Wash out really well. I cleaned multiple times and multiple inks. Waited til completely dry. For some reason it started working. Went to refill with the same ink and it did the same thing. Penbbs told me to use a wetter ink. I used diamine damson that has a viscosity of 1.6. According the The Ink Guy here on fountain tube that is a very wet ink. More cleanings and drying and I’m done. It’s such a lovely well balanced pen and I enjoyed the one good fill that I had…Any tips? Anyone? Should I give up and turn it into an eyedropper? (Not that I know how.)

Hey! In addition to the Fisher Space Pen, Tombow AirPress, Schmidt MegaLine P950 refill, and Pilot Down Force, there are also other pressurized pens like the Uni Power Tank and the Zebra X-701 ballpoint pen that also uses a pressurized ink refill.😊

A curiously low-qual & odd build. Cheap? Yup it's cheap. A Bic Crystal is cheaply made too but the ball point at the business end of the pen works extremely well. This Bic EasyClic design does not impress. In particular, it doesn't matter if it's a freebie, a ten cent pen or a thousand dollars ... it has to write well. I'll stick with my fountain pens but if I had to go really, really cheaply, I know I can depend on a Bic Crystal to write well. It won't be the sensual experience that is any decent fountain pen including ultra cheapies like a Pilot Metropolitan. Not 10 cents but the pilot is a real pen.

Yeah Mont Blanc is the rolex of pens. What every normal person thinks of when they think of the "Best pen". What really annoys me is that they aren't on the same level as rolex honestly. They should be using more ebonite and lacquer on their meisterstuck series. The pilot custom urushi can be had for 200$ cheaper than a 149 and it has urushi lacquer and a similar if not better nib than the 149.

"the 950 weighs 55 grams ..." Is that un-inked? Inked with a standard length "International" cartridge? or inked with the included converter? I have the 950 Dragon inked with Noodler's "Qin Shi Huang"/"First Emperor", and 950 with boat/ship inked with Noodler's "Warden's Bad Blue Heron." These two pens are dedicated to these inks. The dragon holds high esteem in Chinese Mythology. Presuming the info online is accurate (🙄) many post unification Chinese rulers have used the dragon as part of their seal. I figured the First Emperor ink would be most suitable for this pen. In Asian Mythology (not just Chinese) the Heron holds an important role as the guide of the dearly departed to their next life. Also, in Chinese Mythology, the departed use a boat to cross or travel a river. (not the same river the Greeks and Romans took to the kingdom of Hades ... (which is NOT a place of punishment, BTW) ... or the same river the ancient Egyptians traveled after dying.) The blue also ties in with crossing the water. Bad Blue Heron seemed the most fitting blue, and it contrasts nicely with the Magenta of First Emperor. I "need" an outlast the acid free paper Archival ink that is proof (after it dries) against water, chemical, and UV light attack. Once these two inks dry the don't fade, come off of, or move on the (wood cellulose) paper.
