Thank you for the video. This was very helpful. I'm at a point where I've replaced washers on both the flush valve and fill valve, cleaned the basket of built up limescale, but there's still a leak. Anything else you would recommend before I just go ahead and buy some new flush and fill valves?

@@bbqbonelesswing Hi, glad it’s help and as you’ve had the basket out it sounds like you’ve got it sussed. If it’s still leaking and everything is back in properly , the other thing it could be is that something stopping the valve from closing , you can flush this through by turning off water , removing water hose from the side valve , strip the cistern including the basket, hold the hose and turn the water back on , use the spray to flush around the cistern if anything is in there it will be flushed out, then reassemble and see if you still have the issue . Also double check the fill valve is perfectly straight that will cause it to not switch off and overflow. A last gasp throw is to also try and slightly lower the float ( it’s in the video how) see if having a lesser amount of water helps. Failing these it does sound like the valve won’t shut off properly and could possibly need a replacement . Good luck with it and thanks for watching Thanks

@@louismoran no, the water needs to be turned off as in the video before doing this otherwise it will keep trying to refill . The flush valve video will show you how , it’s very easy, but you may need to replace your washer as it may be blistered and bubbled, link to buy that is in the description of this video. 👍

Hi, we have a GEBERIT SIGMA 8 CM and when we press the long flush button it doesn't do a full flush and we're having to build the button down. If I remove the plate and adjust the flush rod by 1 notch (about 1mm) the toilet does a full flush but then trickles? Could you advise what I need to do to resolve this. Many thanks.
@brookesagencies3 ай бұрын
Hi, this could be a number of things and will need process of elimination and a little patience. You need to establish if the issue is the flush rods, or within the cistern or it could be a combination of both, First thing to do is remove the flush plate and the flush rods and flush by just pulling up the large flush part of the valve, just pull it up and release and see if it does a large flush and drops back down as it should,If it does then the issue isn't within the cistern, If it does, then the issue is the flush rods, I would check that they are not too long and are hitting the back of the cistern when you flush, if they do it wont open the valve enough and wont allow the correct amount of water to drop through, this is a simple fix as you just snap off a little more of the rod and make it smaller , this actually happens more with the 8cm cistern as by its very nature it isn't as deep and doesn't allow as much clearance, not knowing if you have just had it installed or if it has been in a while and just started doing it , there could be other things too, but for starters, you will need to check if it is a flush rod issue or the issue is within the cistern. Hope this helps, as i said it could be a few things, but these are what I would try first.
@dalesomerset62433 ай бұрын
@brookesagencies Thank you so much for your reply. The toilet has been installed around 4 years and worked fine at the start. I have however taken a look at the rods, and you were correct. They were hitting the rear of the cistern, therefore not flushing fully. I've not removed a small section, and they are not working fine. Thank you again for your advise.

Hello! We have a Geberit Sigma 70 dual-flush plate 115.625.JK.1 (Lava Glass) and it drips from the bottom on occasion. Not much, maybe a few drips per day, from either side, almost the corner, never the middle of the plate. At first we thought it had to do with condensation, but I don't think that's it. It only happens when the WC is being used or flushed on a regular basis, not when it is sitting idle. If one takes a paper towel or tissue and runs it at the top or bottom, it soaks up a bit of water. Any ideas?
@brookesagencies6 ай бұрын
Hi, This is indeed a strange one, as there is no logical reason for this to be happening as the flush plate is not near the water. Condensation came to mind before you mentioned it, but if you say it only happens when you use / flush the loo then you could do the following check, take off the front plate, make sure the area is then dry, then flush the toilet with the flush plate off, and observe if it happens or water appears in that troublesome corner, if it doesn't then at least you know that the source is coming from an exterior source somehow, if it does then it is from inside, this is really pushing it and highly unlikely but the only I could see water getting in is condensation from the inside the cistern drops on the flush rods then makes it way to the trouble spot, I am clutching at straws here a little to be honest, but however, unlikely this maybe, this is the only possible way a small amount of water could get there, however unlikely. I think it would be good to try and establish if it is an in cistern or exterior issue either way, so try that little experiment and see what happens is my suggestion. Sorry I Can't be more help, but this is a new one, keep me informed if you do find out as I am intrigued by this one as its somethings I have never encountered in 18 years of dealing with Geberit cisterns.

This may help someone as not all Geberit faceplates have the clip at the bottom. I watched loads of videos and the clip is always shown at the bottom. I spent a frustrating time trying to get mine off (by pushing upwards) and almost breaking it in the process. Mine (a 2017 model) has the metal spring clip on the LEFT side. Therefore to remove the faceplate you need to push it to the right then unclip the right-hand edge. HTH. Cheers from UK.

This is very true and means you don't have a Sigma cistern, this video is only for the sigma cistern as that's the one I have, Geberit do a whole range of different models, like Kappa, Delta, Omega, this video is purely for the Sigma cistern. The other cisterns flush plates operate from the side, Sigma from the bottom, also the gap to access the internals is smaller on other models and the internals are slightly different in the others although very similar so you can work it out based on my video here, as it's pretty much exactly the same procedure. Always happy to help if you're struggling in the future.

Even though it turned out the cause of the running toilet was a build up of limescale preventing smooth operation and so a running toilet, this video gave me the confidence to know I could get in there without flooding the bathroom. In my case we have a space save cistern, so some disassembly was required inside the less deep tank - nonway the flush and valve wiuld come out otherwise, but I got there in the end. All it took was a clean and I could get it running again. Thank you!

after reassembly, the right button does not work. Why?
@brookesagencies Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching, I would say you have not installed it back quite correctly. It does happen, you need process of elimination to find it. Try these steps Take off the flush plate , press in the right flush rod and see if the flush works without the plate. If it does, then you have the flush rod slightly too far out or too far in, unclip it and push it back/forward ever so slightly , then turn to clip back in, bit of trial and error need, then but the flush plate back on. If it doesn't flush once you removed the flush plate, you need to make sure the flush rod is actually hooked on the flush valve, if it isn't then it wont flush. It's an easy fix, to sort so hopefully you should be ok.

Yep pretty much it’s the same , you’ll need a screwdriver to remove the kappa back plate and it’s a bit tighter to get your hands in and mess around but it’s the same principle with the fill valve and flush valve

I am so thankful for this. As usual the toilet started to leak at 2300 at night on a Saturday. My wife was not happy. Toilets always malfunction but only on weekends. And I did not know anything about these things in the wall. I always looked at them and thought that putting the plumbing stuff in the wall has to be the stupidest idea in history but your video saved my butt. The only remaining question is whether it is safe to use dilute vinegar to decalcify the plastic thing since the calcium buildup is the primary cause. There was plenty around the seal. Thank you again for a great video.
