Dziękuję Monika! :) Something that may be of use to everyone, the "other meaning" examples are also used in English. Chodzisz z nim? - Is the same as the American slang "Are you going with him?" as in the shortened form of 'are you going steady with him?'. Zegarek mi ne chodzi. - This is the same as "my watch isnt going" as in it has stopped working, its not going. Similar to "my car's not going, it won't start". O co ci chodzi? - can be translated/understood in English as 'what are you going on about?" Or a more direct translation of sorts, which still somewhat makes sense is 'about what (exactly) are you going (on about)' Chodzę w sponiach - could be understood as "i'm going in trousers". For example if the question was asked "what are you wearing to the dance, jeans or trousers?" you could reply with "I'm going in trousers" or chodzę w sponiach. As for 'Chodź tutaj!' ... I'm not sure on this one. Instead of 'go' I think 'get' is being used here. Thus the example would be translated as "get over here" or simply "get here". ??? Or perhaps it is used in the context where someone asks "where am I GOing?", and out of frustration you might jokingly say "go HERE!!" as in 'you are going to me/coming to me'. It's good to know that some English expressions, or these irregular uses of words, are reciprocated in Polish. :) So if I say that my car isn't going (in Polish), people will know what I mean. :) .... unless of course I'm better of saying "mój samochód nie jedzie"... my car isn't running?

SŁYCHAĆ : I was a little confused by this but now understand that it is an impersonal verb. Therefore it excludes any pronoun. A sound can be heard. A sound was heard. The library was very quiet, not a sound could be heard. Thunder can be heard. A crash was heard. Rain could be heard falling. The roar of a lion could be heard in the jungle. So in all of these situations/cases the word słychać will be used. However the following, even though they are impersonal, seem to use a different verb: A voice was heard. (Usłyszano) What was heard at the meeting? (usłyszano) Her new song will be heard on the rado from tomorrow. (usłyszeć) A new song will be heard on the rado from tomorrow. (usłyszymy) Your voice will be heard if you speak loud enough. (usłyszany) My question is, what makes these ones different? Thanks!

Hi, thanks for such great videos. This video has helped me a lot. Dziękuję bardzo Monika! :) Out of curiousity I looked at 'two thousand' and 'two thousand and two' : Two thousand gold = dwa złota .... thus ends with 'a' Two thousand and two gold = dwa tysiące dwa złote ... as expected I also found from Google Translate that from 400 onward it becomes złota. Except for 1000 which returns to 'ych' therefore tysiąc złotych But here's the thing, Google translate shows 500 as pięćset złota however on the 500 Polish bank note and as Monika says it is pięćset złotych. Thus is Google Translate incorrect? Aha! Okay, it seems that if you use the word "gold" in Google Translate then it translates to złota after 400, 500, 2000 etc. I changed the translate search to use the actual Polish word "złoty" for five hundred złoty, two thousand złoty etc and now it shows złotych. :) Man this is a huge learning curve!!! But I'm loving learning Polish. Uwielbiam uczyć się języka Polskiego!!

6:28 - something I've discovered about dzi, from what I'm hearing. While in most cases dzi sounds like 'gee" as Monika says, if dzi goes before 'e' as in tydzień then it sounds more like "jeh" (as in jeremiah). And if it goes before ę it sounds more like "gen". dzie > Tydzień = tuh-JEH-nyah .. or tuh-JENyah dzię > Dziękuję = GEN-ku-yeh So the "ee" sound appears to be dropped.

Fantastic. Not only am I learning Polish but I'm also gaining an understanding on perspective and grammar. Siebie = myself as in 'by myself', or on my own. Sobie = mysefl as in "me", or for me. So for fun you could even probalby (depending if I have used the correct grammar here) say something like : Kupiłam sobie prezent, siebie. >>>>> I bought myself (me) a present, by myself (on my own). :D

If Cz is pronounced "tch", why is 'o czym' pronounced "teh" ... therefore it sounds like o-tehm

Smart… I’m brazilian, and in Portuguese we have the same problem as in English: “John have his computer” → the computer belongs to John or to another person? If we need to specify to whom the computer belongs, we have to state it. In Polish, it’s solved!
