As part of our series themed Grace for End time Purposeful Living, our seventh topic is ‘The Grace for Success in Parenting’. The purpose of this session is to help us embrace the grace to be successful in our parental duties. Parenting is the activity of bringing up children by fathers and mothers. These could be as biological, foster or guardian parents. Either way this is a major responsibility bestowed upon humanity by God. Children are God’s heritage and as such every parent is a care taker who must continue to take instructions from God’s word in order to be successful in parenting. Hence, they must understand that Satan seeks to destroy children, is always strategising for their capture and downfall and as such parents must be sensitive and obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit for each child. Parenting involves discipline, instruction, mentorship and friendship throughout the developmental stages of the child and parents must prepare themselves and be exemplary to the children at every stage. Finally, success in parenting requires the cooperation of both parents and children. Children must obey and honour their godly parents and the parents must relate with them wisely. Meditation: Psalms 127:1-5; Matthew 2:1-14; Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Ephesians 6:1-4

This is our eighth and final session of the series themed Grace for End time Empowerment. Our focus will be on the ‘Grace for Unity’. Unity is the state of being joined as a whole. The end time church was birthed through unity and will need to continue to thrive on being united. Before the Pentecost, Jesus prayed for the unity of the saints to underscore the significance of unity in the church as evidence of His Lordship on earth. Unity involves intentional togetherness and a willingness to share. The intentionality must involve understanding the body of Christ and the individual responsibility we have with respect to our calling in it. God’s desire is therefore that every member of the body is imparted by the anointing from the Holy One so as to fulfil our individual and collective purpose. To walk in unity we must overcome the lack of love, humility, gentleness, patience and forgiveness. We must be prayerful- recognising that it all begins in our minds and the choices we make. Meditation: Ephesians 4:1-6; Psalms 133:1-3; Acts 4:32; I Peter 3:8-12

In our seventh and penultimate session of the series themed Grace for End time Empowerment, our emphasis will be on the ‘Grace for Reliability and Trustworthiness’. This session also concludes our elemental study of faithfulness as a compound word comprising trustworthiness, reliability, loyalty, consistency and steadfastness. Both reliability and trustworthiness can be interpreted to mean the same thing or be closely complimentary in the description of a person who is dependable. However, whilst reliability is more about the quality of performing consistently well; trustworthiness is the ability to be honest or truthful. Our salvation is not attained by performance but God’s desire for everyone who names the name of the Lord is to serve Him in the ministry of reconciliation. Reliability is an essential aspect of the Christian life and our reliability will ultimately be judged by God. Also, our trustworthiness is evidenced by the ability to be diligent with seemingly insignificant and matters entrusted to us. Reliability and Trustworthiness therefore makes it possible for God to use us for His purposes as He is always seeking for reliable and trustworthy people. Meditation: I Cor. 4:1-5; Luke 16:9-15; Col. 3:9-10; Col. 4:7-11

In this third session in our series themed Grace for End time Empowerment, our focus is on the ‘Grace for Integrity’. Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. It involves being wholesome and undivided. For a Christian, integrity is all about being Christlike. In life, our thoughts become our words, our words our actions, our actions become our habits and our habits become our character. Integrity must therefore be demonstrated in our thoughts, words, actions, habits and character as aligned to the Word of God always. It is impossible to do this without the grace of God that teaches us to deny ungodliness at every point. However, God’s ultimate purpose is for our character to conform to His image. Therefore, to develop integrity of character, a person must be selfless and humble, continuously influenced by the Holy Spirit, sincere and cheerful in action and be solidly adhering to the principles of the Word of God. Meditation: Proverbs 23:7; Philippians 2:1-17, Titus 2:7-8; Proverbs 11:3

This is the first in our series themed Grace for End time Empowerment. Titled ‘Grace for Salvation’, the session is focussed on helping us understand and maximise the grace of God that is extended to us for our salvation. At His ascension, Jesus promised us that we shall be empowered to be His witnesses as we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The grace of God is God’s unmerited favour, approval or acceptance extended to us whilst salvation is deliverance from danger or suffering. The word salvation carries the idea of victory, health, or preservation. Our victory, however, is over sin and other satanic devices. We are saved from “wrath,” that is, from God’s judgment of sin. To make the most of the grace for salvation we must always remember that: we were once dead in sin; we are saved by His mercy to reign with Him; our salvation is a free gift of Grace that we receive by faith and we are saved to serve. Meditation: Ephesians 2:1-10; Titus 2:1-15; Romans o5:8-9; Romans 10:9-10, 13

Our tenth topic of the series ‘Grace for End time Holiness’ is Refusing strong headedness. The focus of this session is to examine what it means to be strong headed and how we can resist the temptation to be strong headed. Jesus predicted the events of the last days and His second coming and all His word will be fulfilled in this generation. We now live in a generation that is head strong - that is rebellious and stubborn toward God and people are inclined to do as they like, allowing their thoughts to make them do as they want; despite advice and consequence of their actions. As a church, It's exciting to know that Jesus is coming back again for His church - one without spot or wrinkles. However, are we prepared and looking forward to His appearing? To overcome strong headedness requires a submissive heart of obedience to the word of God, following the leading of the Holy Spirit to do God’s will and not doing as we want. The christian must allow their heart to be circumcised by the Holy Spirit and be more sensitive toward God by listening to the word of God. This will regulate our hearts as it relates to our thoughts, emotions and behaviours and seek to respond to God in love and obedience. To prevent strong headedness Jesus encourages us to repent of the sin of strong headedness and follow him whole heartedly. Meditation: II Tim. 3:1-5; Matt 24:32-51; Jer. 44:15-30; Jeremiah 18:12, Acts 7:51

Our ninth topic of the series ‘Grace for End time Holiness’ is Refusing to be a Traitor. The focus of this session is to examine what it means to be a traitor and how we can resist the temptation to be traitorous. A traitor is person who betrays someone or something such as a friend, cause or principle. Betrayal or disloyalty (also known as backstabbing or treachery) has been mentioned as a trait that will be common in this end time. Traitorous people are hypocritical in action because they pretend loyalty to a person while secretly destroying the person or their reputation. They are cowards who are full of hatred, jealousy and bitterness of sorts. Jesus alluded to offense as a source of traitorous tendencies and therefore warned His disciples on the need to be observant of the things that will cause offense and subsequent treachery. To prevent becoming a traitor, Jesus encourages guarding one’s heart and remaining steadfast despite these occurrences of the end time. Meditation: II Tim. 3:1-5; Matthew 24:3-14; Luke 22:47-48; 1 Corinthians 15:57-58

‘Overcoming evil with good’ is our eighth topic of the series ‘Grace for End time Holiness’. As others before it, this topic complements our study covering the Scriptural warnings about people’s behaviour in the last days. The focus of this session is on helping us to develop virtues that should help us overcome the temptation to lack self-control, be brutal and be despisers of good in the light of warnings given by Scripture about end time traits. This is especially as our carnal nature would seek to respond with evil for every evil done to us. To lack self control is to be living life without discipline and the ability not to respond to evil done to us with evil. To be brutal is to be savage, cruel, pitiless, vicious and inhumane amongst other things. It is a trait of wickedness extended to others by persons serving Satan’s agenda. Despising good means that people will choose to do whatever suits them rather than whatever God demands. Lacking self control, being brutal and despising good will therefore not allow us overcome evil with good. However, God does not want us to repay evil for evil. To overcome evil with good, we must always: remember that God is the judge of all; be Christlike; focus on Jesus and not forget that God observes our actions always so as to reward our obedience. Meditation: II Tim. 3:1-5; Matthew 26:36-56; Rom. 12:17-21; Matthew 5:43-45

Our series on ‘Grace for End time Holiness’ is continued in this seventh session. Titled ‘Refusing to Slander’, it complements our study covering the Scriptural warnings about people’s behaviour in the last days. The focus is on helping us to develop virtues that prevents us from being slanderous. Slander is simply lying about someone with the intent of causing others to view that person in a negative light thereby damaging their reputation. Slander is one of the three aspects of false witnessing not permitted in the Commandments - the others being gossip and tale bearing. Gossip is conversation about others usually containing unconfirmed details, whilst tale bearing is knowingly spreading an untrue (positive or negative) account about a person or situation. However, slander takes gossip and tale bearing to a different level. Gossip and tale bearing collect someone’s secrets and passes them to others; slander makes up its own secrets and broadcasts them wherever they will do the most harm. God hates all forms of lying and as such we must desist from them. A desire to slander usually springs from a root of bitterness, unforgiveness and jealousy amongst other things. Hence, God’s solution for slander is for us to love each other. When we focus on obeying the Lord by loving as He loves us, slander will not tempt us. Meditation: II Tim. 3:1-5; Exodus 20:16; Ephesians 4:17-32; Romans 13:10

This fifth session of our series on ‘Grace for End time Holiness’ is titled ‘Rejecting the Unholy Lifestyle’. It continues our study covering the Scriptural warnings about people’s behaviour in the last days. The focus is on understanding the need to be holy as God is holy. God’s holiness is about His absolute perfection. His very being is completely absent of even a trace of sin. He is high above any other, and no one can compare to Him. When God told Israel to be holy in Leviticus 11 and 19, He was instructing them to be distinct from the other nations by giving them specific regulations to govern their lives. As believers, we need to be "set apart" from the world unto the Lord. We need to be living by God’s standards, not the world’s. God is calling us to be distinct from the world. We are separated from the world and as such we need to live out that reality in our day-to-day lives. Sin’s sole purpose is to bring condemnation and destruction. However, Jesus came to save us and help us to live holy unto the Lord. Meditation: II Tim. 3:1-5; 1 Peter 1:13-16; James 1:12-13; John 8:1-12
