It was a bit cheaper too than the cruise ship bus or Uber. :) Have a great day and thanks for the question.

@@kthom108 Good morning! There isn’t a lot of good information out there on this, but rumor has it that you have to get at least 10,000 casino points in one cruise (1 point for every $3 slot bet, I think). Carnival really holds that info close, and I’m guessing it changes a bit depending on ship capacity levels across the fleet. I just got an email that I’m eligible for early Ultra booking on September 24 and I have had previous access to book Elite cruises as well… I think that might be because I cruise so often. I wish I had more information for you! My “strategy” is to find a machine that seems to pay out pretty consistently over time, and spend several hours at it to rack up my casino points. Other than that, the program guidelines are a bit of a mystery to everyone! Hope that helps… sorry I don’t have a better answer.

Thanks for the video! Flying this plane next week, infuriated bc we booked in April and specifically for the new 900neo, now one week in advance they changed planes to this. When you aren't in bed mode, how far can the seats recline? I've heard you can't go into a lounge mode but I'm hoping it's better than a domestic first class seat at least
@trishatravelstheworld2 ай бұрын
@@brandonswift8261 Thanks for the question Brandon… thinking about that seat, it was probably the strangest premium seat I’d ever had since I had to have the attendant set it to make the bed and it did seem much smaller and exposed than the Delta One suites that I’m used to. I think there was a recline function, but I have to admit that after a horrific travel day, spending the night in the airport, lost bags, and last minute plane switches that day I didn’t pay as much attention to that feature since I went from sitting to sleeping like a baby rather quickly. I’m sorry you won’t have the new plane like you had planned - that happened to me on Delta once and I was bummed too. I’d be interested in your thoughts on your flight after your trip. :)

@@trishatravelstheworld On 9/4 I left PHL at 7:22am on a 767-300ER. It took a couple of flights and many hours to reach the big island via: PHL, SLC, HNL, ITO. Spent a lot of time in the air, mostly in seat 1A since this was my longest flight. My tickets were marked Sky Priority, this opened a lot of doors at airports. The flights were exceptional as well as the crews. The in flight meals were really delicious. Anyway I do not recommend seat 1A. It’s noisy with a lot of foot traffic. I realized this after I flew in 4D on the way back. Seat 4D had more legroom and was very quiet. Both 767s I flew on were well worn. The 767 coming home was in better condition however still showed wear, this I learned to expect. The flights home were very nice, with basically the same levels of service and attention to detail as before. Personally I couldn’t utilize the lay flat seat. Seat 4D had a bit more legroom and felt roomier than 1A. Would I buy Delta 1 seat in the future? Yes, because it’s exponentially better then flying Comfort+, and even more than economy. Anywho, to me, Hawaii is a scientist’s dream come true. Aloha!

This is an AMAZING built!!! Exactly what I have been looking for. Do you drain your tub after every use? I feel like I would be wasting so much water but want the water to be "safe" to be in too!
@trishatravelstheworld2 ай бұрын
@@hmmm1200_YT Good morning! Yes, I do drain it after every use since I don’t use any chemicals or stabilizers in it. My tub is on a bit of a slope, so I’ve hooked my drain hose to a little drip system to water my newly planted grape vines. I live in the Pacific Northwest so we do have quite a bit of water everywhere, but I imagine in some regions the water usage is a much bigger issue. I looked up the average 10 minute shower water usage - it’s around 25 gallons - so it’s almost the same consumption as a little longer shower. After your build, I’d love to hear how it went for you. Is it safe to camp in Maui or any other island in hawaii ?
@trishatravelstheworld3 ай бұрын
I’ve tent camped at Hosmer Grove on the summit of Haleakala, cabin camped at Waianapanapa State Park near Hana, tent camped and hostel camped at Camp Keanae, and tent camped and glanced at Camp Olowalu - with most of those on my own. I’ve never had any problems myself, but some people do. I never swim alone or after dark, I’m always on the lookout for scorpions and spiders, I keep to myself at my campsite, and I am always respectful to local folks. I’m not sure how or if the local culture on Maui has changed toward visitors since the tragic Lahaina fire, but just like camping anywhere - lock valuables up, be kind, go with the flow, and trust your instincts. I always have a backup plan, always camp in established state or county or private campgrounds, and never try to camp in a place that has a “locals only” vibe. I figure the amazing people of Maui might need a break taking care of tourists like me, so I don’t crowd in to their special places - even if books like Maui Revealed encourage it. I hope that helps!

I grew up in a fishing boat in the Pacific Northwest, so I know what you mean about home cooking - many nights we had more salmon, crab, and ling cod than we could eat, my mom liked to cook fried potatoes with onions as a side for the fish. For many cruise passengers who have never had good salmon, have never gone fishing like we have, or who have lived in places very different - far away countries, even - this is an amazing peek into the amazingly delicious bounty that we enjoy. It’s kind of like showing off, in a good way! For me, it’s a reminder of my childhood in the boat, and the good times long ago when my mom and dad and little brother and I were all around our dinner table. :) Will your wife share her recipe with all of us? I had the drink package, so they were included at no extra charge - the sommelier had encouraged me to try a white and a red (normally I’d only have one or the other). The real highlight is the dinner, with the chef introducing each course and it’s fun talking with the other passengers. It’s expensive, and it’s a quality over quantity kind of thing - a couple of the fellas at the table mentioned they’d be going to the buffet afterwards for a snack or two - but it was very interesting. I’ve done it twice, on two different ships, and the menu was exactly the same so I probably won’t do it again. :)

It is so much more spectacular when you see it in person, especially when you get lucky and the sun comes out - but even in the drizzling rain, or cold wind blowing snow off the high peaks, it’s pretty gorgeous as well. My three favorite Alaska wildlife must see’s are sea otters in Sitka, momma and baby whales near Juneau, and these baby seals. Make sure, if you can, to take some kind of binoculars with you because there’s so much to see. (And rain gear, just in case. Hi Tina! I did this as part of an excursion to the Medenhall Glacier hike, but their website does say roundtrip bus from the port area. We rode the salmon bake bus back to the ship when we were done eating, so I imagine it's that bus that picks people up as well. They do recommend reserving ahead -- you might want to give them a call to confirm. I'm a bit jealous -- I'm not going until September this year. You might see some rain on your cruise, but I think it's also harbor seal baby time too! Here's the link I found, hope it helps: www.alaskatraveladventures.com/day-tours/juneau/gold-creek-salmon-bake/#dt

Trisha, question, my husband is doing an excursion where he is taking a helicopter to mendenhall glacier to do a hike up there. How far is it from mendenhall glacier to the actual Salmon Bake site? I asked because the last reservation is at 6:00 that I can make if I go on my own versus on ship excursion and his mendenhall glacier excursion gets back at 5:15. So I'm trying to time this out that he gets back in time to catch a bus in order for us to get to the salmon bake in time
@trishatravelstheworld7 ай бұрын
@@tinaacord7798 I think that the salmon bake site is just a mile or two up the coast… so not very far… but you might want to think about going a little earlier yourself and have a beer by the creek (or lemonade), listen to music, or check out the little gold panning station. I believe there are taxis and Ubers (?) that your hubby might jump on at the port to get to the salmon bake, and then you both can just ride the salmon bake bus back after dinner. You should confirm that all of these details are still workable though - like with a call to the salmon bake folks - since stuff in Alaska changes sometimes. :)
