This man has provided us with a way to restore these wonderfull cars in posterity, i cant thank him enough. The presentor however needs to modify his interviewing style to avoid coming over as a bit of a t**t.

The "famous " Colin Corke. I sold my 21 - year old (ziebarted) Allegro , rust free - to buy a larger car, in 2000. Still miss it! I got the Owners Club magazine, and heard that Colin Corke used to SELL the Allegros, before becoming a vicar.Apparently he then "gave sanctuary" to old Allegros on the "forecourt" of his church, so young guys could get them free, in return for fixing them up, and saving them ! (Jesus saves - and so did Reverend Corke!) The Allegro has SO many religious co- incidences, the couple who ran the owners club, lived in Church Lane! I joked in the owners club magazine, that I was thinking of trading my car up for a top of the range model with tinted windows (stained glass!) I saw something on the internet, about how vicars liked to own Morris Minors. When those went out of production, they switched to buying ALLEGROS! In fact, MINE was "ex-vicar"! Talking about Italian ones having a holy good luck charm - amazingly, my own "ex-vicar" car DID have a prayer card in it ( from the vicar). I had an accident in it - when I fell asleep at the wheel, and went up a kerb. (The jolt woke me up!) What I assumed was a nice man, raced up the hill, and asked if I was alright. I thanked him for his concern, and explained that there was no air conditioning, awhich would have dried out damp air on a rainy day, drawn in by the heater. So, TRYING to keep the misty screen clear, meant the interior was SO HOT, I fell asleep! The " nice man" turned savage, when he shouted "YOU COULD HAVE KILLED ME" , because, I had apparently nearly knocked him down, as he had walked along the pavement! So I think my car's original owner (the vicar) did the right thing, leaving the prayer card in my car, because no-one was hurt!

The Marina vans are very rare. Imagine if the newly revived Morris Commercial who redesigned and produce a more modern EV version of the J-Type van, reproduce the Marina vans into EV version in the future, this would replenish it's population and be a better performing van type than its original predecessor as well as giving their legacies a second chance.

Of course the white one has legendary status (I remember playing with the toy version in the early 80s) but, the copper car with ski racks is my favourite. The colour, the wheels, the skis. Too cool.👌

My Dad had a 78 estate version of that car, same colour and model, good to drive, comfortable and roomy. But yes, the rust was rapid and terrible. Shame. I passed my test in it in 1980.

I remember this car model as it was previously mentioned in malaysian school history book back then. That truly is a piece of malaysia history and its so nice that it has made its way to the care of a enthusiastic young lad all the way across the sea from malaysia. Stabilization is the best thing to do first. Investigate how it was built, with what parts, colour and spec. but repairs need to be done. A total nut and bolt rebuild is for complete unrecoverable basket cases only. However that does not mean work should not be done to it. Someone somewhere at some point will build one just like it.

Hi there, I drove these vans all over the country when I worked with my dad in those days. We had 3 vans over the years...and I can still remember all about them to this day, The first one was identical to yours in white ...DNU 726L the reg... I know all their faults Clutch slave , Trunions, Exhaust valves burn out , Rain water in foot Wells, Rust everywhere etc. My dad even taught me to drive in one , sadly he passed away in 2022 , but I still carry the memories around .

It absolutely has to be left ias it is. Maybe the paint work could be improved as it just looks a bit flat to me. If not, then leave it as it is all part of the cars story. It can only be original once. Kind regards Paul

Fascinating and I had often wondered if such a car existed. Personally, I think it should be restored. I think the video would have been so much better if the gentleman on the left wasn't blocking our view of this beautiful car :)
