A better solution would be state, sheriff and police departments equipping their vehicles with Grapplers. Spending $5,000 would be the cheaper option than spending $50,000+ for a new vehicle and potentially hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars in disability and legal costs. From personal experience, I'm not surprised by these tactics. The salesperson I encountered ignored my 'no soliciting' sign and wouldn't take no for an answer. I spent almost 20 minutes arguing with him and was about to slam the door on him when he finally gave up.

The prosecutor dropped the case because it was an illegal stop ; he did not commit jaywalking ! So cop had No Legal reason to stop and ID him ,and therefore no reason to arrest him ! What has to be done has to be done. Better for someone who has been nominally trained and with a nominally hardened vehicle to willingly take the hit. It is not always feasible to get traffic stopped because there will ALWAYS be traffic coming down the highway, blocking exits or even stopping that flow entirely will not change the results - the wrong way driver will eventually get TO the stopped traffic... and it is unlikely they will stop.

I think there are ways and different devices that could be added to police interceptors to help keep these guys safer in alot of situations. Self driving technology should in most cases be banned. I truly believe that there are people who would or can use it as a excuse for unaccountability.
