Sounds like your k9 officer had other plans. Didn't like his partner and probably had another life before being placed in a highly stressful situation

Obviously the dog was unhappy and looking for happiness. Possibly smelled another dog in heat and went to check it out if Cash is a male unaltered dog. Or he is heading too where he thinks home is and he is going home.

Hopefully Cash will ultimately be found safe, healthy and alive. And, hopefully what happened with this beautiful K9 officer was not an inside job either. Peace & Blessings to all in the Davis County Sheriffs Dept who gave Cash love and searched for Cash too.
