I think you could use a faceplate or 4-jaw (non self-centering) chuck for that. Not sure how you'd hold it securely in a self-centering chuck.

Very nice. I like it. I tried turning one of these bowls out of oak plywood. Not a good idea. I trashed it into the fireplace wood pile. Instead I finished two out of Cherry and walnut. Both turned out very nice too.

Why not use your lifecenter, do the same with 3/4 x 10 tpi nut and fit the cup center around it.

When you were adding some CA glue to the bowl inside you also rubbed in some sort of turnings offcuts. What were those turnings and how are they used to fill in the gaps with the CA glue?

Excellent! Just finsished my first 'cube' or three cornered bowl, from old oak lumber. Looks great even with filled splits. Fancied gluing up a special and you've shown me the way. Guess there are lots of different patterns that can come from gluing up in different ways. I've noted the number of cramps one might need! Thanks for sharing.
