I love working the plywood glue-up pieces. Never know what it's going to look like. Beautiful piece.

Very nice. I like it. I tried turning one of these bowls out of oak plywood. Not a good idea. I trashed it into the fireplace wood pile. Instead I finished two out of Cherry and walnut. Both turned out very nice too.

That must've felt like woodturning a propeller. Scary stuff. Totally worth it though, it's amazingly beautiful.

....just hit the subscribe button! I really enjoyed your video and the results are so unique. Great way to use up otherwise scrap pieces. That's a lot of turning, and a lot of work, but the piece speaks for itself. Thx from Canada

There had to have been some way of cutting that in half instead of turning it all away. Beautiful piece in the end but it could have been two beautiful pieces.

That‘s actually a good idea. I have to try that.👍🏻 Welcome to my bucket list. 😊

@ I think it would be hard to get a clean cut diagonally. Some form of jig to hold it and a chainsaw would be my first guess. or mount it as you start and use a parting tool as far in as you can/dare then chainsaw to finish once you have a good starting line to work from.
@richrider58844 жыл бұрын
I'm tinkering with a sled for a table and band saw that would hold blanks like that so they can be cut diagonally. Alot of "waste" when turning these types of bowls, even if it's scraps. Other than that beautiful work.

How many hours did it take to glue up and turn?
4 жыл бұрын
The glue up took abot 2 weeks, but that was mostly waiting for the glue to dry. The turning was about 5-6 hours.

@ do you ever burnish with rawhide leather and unfiltered beeswax?

Nope. But there is beeswax in the Yorkshire grit, i think.
