I have a 1989 Toyota Hilux 4y SRX owning it since 1994 still moving 100%. These Toyotas are like a TV soap opera, goes on forever it dies and resurrected.

I picked the same exhaust just bc of how cheap it was for a full system. I ended up bringing to a shop to fix the placement of the O2 sensor on the header, and replaced the axle back resonator with a vibrant ultra quiet. It’s still loud above 3k but WAY better to cruise around with and below 75 on the highway.

You can buy pieces off Facebook or the best parts I’ve found are from lc engineering, or yota parts.com

I've had my 1983 Toyota 4 by 4 since it was new in July 1983. Paid $8295.00 for the deluxe. Middle model that year. Great truck!

nice truck ! a fan shroud would help you a bunch with running hot issues. I have a 93 22re 5 speed 4wd with 10.1 pistons and like you I have to run 93 octane which sucks but my motor was built by yota1 and pushing pretty close to 200 hp. I don't know what they did but that thing has plenty of power and so smooth. Its like driving a little sports car. I'm only getting about 14 mpg in town right now but fixing to put a Haltech ecu on it and hope that improves the mileage, You might put a broad band 02 sensor on yours and that would help you tune that carb to get some more hp out of it or at least better mpg

The 22r engine is great, but Toyota didn’t add the best stuff to it. The intake, egr system and exhaust manifold hold it back.

Love these trucks. Bought a 1985 22R 4 speed 2 WD with 230,000k runs like new and I can park anywhere and it's so easy to work on. Love this little thing

I’ve had 3 loud exhaust tickets in the past year and a half. Troopers hate my car in my town.🤣 E-85 tuned, FBO, and have a N2MB WOT box. The tickets are hanging above my Xbox for show.🤣🫶🏼😎

How big of a difference do you think the cold air intake makes on the sound/power of the truck? I have an early 90s toyota pickup with a v6 and wondering if its worth picking one up.
