I recently bought a previously unused(NWT) super-lighweight zipped sweatshirt (K01 BRN 831) on eBay with the Carhartt collar tag labelled "rugged outdoor wear carhartt" production date 0997, Crafted with Pride in USA and YKK zipper. It is not very rugged and the polyurethane inner liner virtually shredded when I placed the garment in the washer under delicate cold water setting. Maybe the 1997 production year in the USA was the end of the quality era and they decided to nearshore to Mexico/Central America and use better quality materials again?! After picking all the tattered interlining chunks off, I'll use it in the summer time and try to not let it snag on anything as i think it will tear quite easily.

My kinda place! Looking for the grails. I dug through a place just like that in Louisiana and it took like 3 showers 🚿 to scrub the crap off of me and a week of soaking and laundering my finds but it paid off. Found this pair of overalls covered in old snow skiing resort patches. Back when I had my own shop Atomic Cowboys. I put what I thought was a ridiculous price on them because it was a display piece in the window, and they sold for $450. I’m still sad about it 😂 That was in 2003.

My oldest orange tabs are 9-97. I prefer orange tab because they don't stretch but the 502 fit so well. The 511 are too narrow. I went into a Levi's store a few years ago and asked if they sold orange tab and she laughed and said if we did we could sell a million pairs. We get that question every week. I started wearing Levis in the late 70's early 80's and if I remember correctly there was a 505 or 501 "super straight" that tapered as it went down the leg in the orange tab. Does anybody else remember these or was I dreaming.

Hi - just a question on corduroy- do they follow. Same logic? I have pair of ladies with orange tab, talon 42 zipper but factory code is 30 which matches care tab. Can’t seem to find the location listed anywhere although they do say made in USA? Grateful for any info.

I got a white tab bell bottom/wide flare jean with a factory code on the button that is 28. Date code is 11 79. I guess some jeans from the 70s listed a 4 digit date code! 😊 This was superhelpful!
