Many people might miss Juri's two attempted suicide because they were shown in a subtle way that needs interpretation. The first might be the reason why she ended up in D-Reaper's red bubbles. She might jump in those bubbles due to depression and trauma. The second was reflected in her words, 'Die, Juri should die.' Then she used her toy to choke herself. Such topic was really deep and dark especially considering that mental health wasn't openly discussed when the series were shown in 2001. Digimon Tamers was ahead of its time. I rewatched with my bf this year and cried really hard for the ending. It's been 24 years 😢 I wish Takato could meet Guilmon again and I also wish Juri could find Leomon in a parallel world. I wish I could see Juri + Leomon = Duftmon one day ❤❤❤

While I don't think this game is the best of the modern trilogy, there are a few things it does better than P4 golden and P5 royal. The most obvious is the story, although P4 and P5 have great themes and stories, the theme of death is just a theme that everyone can relate to because all living beings will die one day. and the P3's story isn't even over yet because there is still room for an Elizabeth story because of P4 arena and arena ultimax. This is more of a thing from the remake specifically and I think P6 will have this too, but the fully voiced social links makes the social links so much better that it should be a Must have for every future game. The combat has been upgraded to perfection because it is a more balanced version of P5 royal's combat

I really with the game was more difficult like the original and even portable sometimes was. I played reload on merciless, and I think the first two-ish blocks were a perfect difficulty. Until you unlock theurgy. They completely trivialize the game and made it way too easy due to how exploitable they are.

Dude, this is right on time - I am easily considering p3reload one of my favorite games I have ever played in terms of emotional weight, but I'm still in december after getting hit with a really tough choice for my group. Hearing how strong Junpei is after benching him has me feeling a little salty for judging him early. But this game is the epitome of subverting expectations!!! I hope my heart isn't torn out too badly to even play the answer cause I wanna know everything involving these characters because the cast is so good!!!

Bro got The Answer’ed, yeah the core of persona is honestly the social links + combat. Removing social links and social stats left you with a mediocre RPG experience that goes on for too long.

I'm just finishing up tamers after watching the first two seasons back to back, and my favourite thing about it is how it portrays the cosmic horror element of Digimon. I have noticed that depression is a theme in every season of Digimon so far, in the first season of Digimon Adventure Matt and Sora each separately struggle with a "cave of darkness" that feeds on negative emotion, and in Digimon 02 there is a similar arc with Kari and Ken who find themselves swallowed by a "Dark Ocean". In all cases it is a threat late in the story that is overcome with the help of their friends, Tamers just takes it a step further in making it integral to the final threat

The Japanese Dub is MUCH Darker and more emotional than i might've thought. Takato and Girumon (Guilmon) have a connection, it hurts Takato and Guilmon when they're both in sync and are both in pain, Episodes 2, 7, 8, 9, 13 & 14 hit very hard and it shows Takato's relationship with Guilmon (Growlmon, MegaloGrowlmon/WarGrowlmon) very well and they grow as time goes on. Guilmon suffers the worst in Episode 8 when he gets choked on by a wild one, while Takato's apology helped, Guilmon still suffers a lot of pain and evolves to Growlmon. Same thing happens with Episode 14 when Growlmon suffers some pain but Takato's pain grows on him and actually helps Growlmon evolve into MegaloGrowlmon/WarGrowlmon. Ruki (Rika)'s Mini Arc from Episodes 10, 11 & 12... Isn't great since she doesn't like Digimon and Kyuubimon leaves, it's not good but it helps with Ruki & Renamon's relationship.

Digimon Tamers might be the only show from childhood with its well-developed writing that fascinates me today. Watching it with the entire Japanese soundtrack made me realize what makes an anime different. Watched many anime but Impmon/Beelzemon remains my favorite anime character of all time. While Adventure might have been better, Tamers certainly left a much bigger impact on me as a fan.

Megidramon should have been the canon Mega for Guilmon in this one. He looks much better than Dukemon. Imagine Takato taming Megidramon and he is then no longer a huge danger.

Meanwhile, it was...far less deep than I remember. Tamers just didn't the opposite of aventure, which tried to hide adult topics/handle them subtly. Tamers, meanwhile, respected the target audience could handle these things, which is indicative of most Japanese shonen not just unique to tamers. This is probably why it's one of the lesser popular/seen as just average in japanese: the west likes to coddle their children and talk down to them. Jeri's everything was so melodramatic it's hard to take seriously on a rewatched, but at the same time? I think that's really important for the target age range to understand these issues/not have them go over their head like they did in the prior series.

Digimon Adventures 1 & 2 and Tamers were amazing but received a lot of flack at the time due to its similarity to Pokémon which had launched around the same time. Anyone who would watch both of these series would quickly realize that the two series, while sharing a somewhat similar premise from a far view, were actually very very different from each other. In my opinion while Pokémon is fun, Digimon has always been far superior at storytelling and while we don't get many games, all have been decent or better. Considering most of the Digimon games are vastly different from each other and are still good states something, Meanwhile 90% of Pokémon games share the same exact structure.

I was on the fence about season 3 at first, given how much it changed up from the Adventure continuity. But I was hooked by episode 5.

I do quite like your philosophical take on biomerging setting this series apart from other monster training shows, the idea of the two sharing a bond so strong they literally become one. Although, my pragmatic take still also sees it as just a convenient way to avoid cutting away from the monster fighting action to show the kids awkwardly standing around on the sidelines, or getting caught up dodging stray attacks as the destructive magnitude of the battles escalate. Doubly so when the next series would ditch the idea of partners entirely and just have the kids be their own Digimon thought transformations.

Everybody always put Pokemon, Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh in a trifecta together, while poor Monster Rancher gets left out in the cold. I never caught much of the TV show, although from what I've heard it's somewhere in-between Pokemon and Digimon in terms of quality. Not nearly as dark as Digimon (although it does have its share of dark moments), but also not as vapid as Pokemon. It also had some toys and a card game which nobody played, but the games were where that series REALLY shined.

I'm a huge fan of Digimon but the one thing that's pretty similar to Pokémon is the main protagonist Ash and some of his traveling companions treat their Pokemon like best friends/family and not just for battling as well.
