Yu Yu Hakusho Live Action Could Do Something Great

A lot of the hate is because of the purist that want a full story. First of all casting will be a big problem, with cast that will be there for just a short time. They condense it without compromising much. The downside was the Genkai and Toguro fight even though they could've done it with Genkai die fighting.

Personally I just can’t get with the want for a purist anime adaptation. I just find it boring. At that point you might as well rewatch anime for millionth time. I’d rather them take big creative risk to differentiate and expand upon the story and maybe flesh out the more interesting parts that come later. Plus with chapter black arc at least they can lean more into the spirit detective aspect if they wanted.

This is not an adaptation, it's the reimagining of Yu Yu Hakusho and with the Easter eggs like Smile Bomb playing in the radio of truck kun to the Filipino translators putting the names of the characters as part of their names for us I am a Filipino btw. It was almost perfect and for me a great basis for the next arc.

@@edgedjbob fr tho! its all the little things and the attention to details that are still there. theres so much room for them to do new things that satisfy everyone if people give the show a chance. I really hope netflix continues and clears it for another season with more episodes.

They basically squeezed the Spirit Detective and Dark Tournament arcs into 5 almost 1 hour episodes. Ridiculous. It was well cast, had a lot of good visuals and surprisingly well cheorgraphed fight scenes. Also had some pretty impactful scenes. Like with Toguro's past and pushing Yusuke to his limit. It was in no way a waste of time. But I was bothered that they crammed so much into one short season. You dont feel sad when Genkai dies because Yusuke and Kurabara just met her in ep 3. Maybe they should have just done with a more simple approach and just did Season 1. Yusuke taking out Toguro so early is unrealistic from a narrative perspective

I respect those points but also hard disagree. Don’t get me wrong I would’ve loved to see it more fleshed out but also I just never thought the dark tournament stuff was THAT interesting. Best tournament arc ever but outside a few narrative beats it’s 70% fighting. Within the episode constraint they had it probably would’ve been hard to do more. Plus w/ way story is now it can branch off more and do its own thing w/ debatably the easier parts to adapt and expand upon. Thats just my opinion though.
