Your comment about GV smelling a little like a repellent is true. I have had a bottle for at least 4 years. I stopped wearing it because of that reason. After the top notes disappear, is when I smell it. I received compliments but I couldn’t enjoy it anymore.

YSL Tuxedo and Spicebomb are my top two compliment getters and it’s not even close.

In summary, you don’t like any vetiver fragrances.

In the last 8ish years I regret buying 90% of fragrances based on reviewers/influencers recommendations. I will never ever blind buy nor listen to any reviewers ever again. Not saying it's their fault ultimately it's mine but this the biggest waste of money hobby that's ever existed in my opinion.

At the end of the day its all about personality. Some will enjoy girly candy scents or edible gourmands, some will enjoy fresh and clean citrusy scents like you Melissa. Some of us enjoy our dark fragrances. Your vibe and personality will define your taste in everything, including fragrances. Everyone loves Naxos and Dior Homme Parfum and im meh about them. They ain't bad but don't deserve the stupid ammount of hype.

The Galloway description is accurate lmaoo 14:49 , I agree with everything except Encre Noir, it's a mysterious smell with orange peel mixed with wet earthy soil to me.

This reminds of everyone’s love of MFK Gentle Fluidity Silver and PDM Layton. Layton is straight up Vicks Vapor Rub to my nose 😭 MFK GFS is..I don’t know what it is about that fragrance. I think it’s the juniper that is an instant turn off. I don’t under the “refreshing” aspect of it that everyone claims 😭😭😭

A huge relief always come when quality reviewers like you are not impressed by Terre D'hermes. My Girlfriend has a very classy taste and firm opinions (venus in taurus) and she can't stand TDH. Some of her favourites are YSL Tuxedo, Xerjoff Naxos and Givenchy Gentleman Boisee.

I think we have the same nose lol. You’re spot on with Terre D’Hermes, Encre Noire, and Hawas Black. You turned me on to Cedrat Boise and YSL Tuxedo, which has become my most complimented fragrance of all time. I’m currently searching for Salt & Pepper. Don’t necessarily want to blind buy it, but you’ve never missed with your recommendations, so I may just pull the trigger on it.
