I think that the beginning is supposed to be a nod to her Grammys performance. She received a lot of negative feedback about it. people were claiming she can’t sing live. Then she gets hit and the audience sees that she’s hurting, but no one helps. They’re watching and enjoying her perform for them while she’s suffering and then cops are chasing after her (possibly about paparazzi??)

It’s so crazy because I was listening to music while going down my home on KZbin and as soon as Ice Cream Man by Raye started I fell on this video like what? 😱

This is my aoty so far! I heard some of her dance features before, but stupidly wrote her of as one of those artists. Around the end of February I saw her album cover on a few thumbnails on my recommended KZbin videos, so I decided to listen to her album and I was blown away!! The sonics of her music are right up my alley, but that paired with her lyrics and just the way she writes her song are perfection to me. I’m seeing her live opening up for SZA in a little less than two months and I think that’ll be a night to remember for the rest of my life. RAYE and SZA are literally my two most listened to artists this year (according to Apple Music) so seeing them live together in one night will be magical!! I’m curious to know, what were the reaction channels you watched that covered this album?

I initially love every song in the album fr No skips for me. This is such a masterpiece! The songs u had mixed feelings ab will def be a grower and I'm glad it rlly did grew on u. Tnx 4 d reaction!

I agree that Because I Liked a Boy is a much better response than skin. I personally think that because (until this album) Sabrina has been known for being extremely private about her personal life, she may have not been comfortable being more direct at the time. But after over a year of constant hate and after deciding to open up a bit more with this album she may have decided it was finally time to really share her side honestly. I think everyone involved are great at what they do, I just wish the media and the fans would be kind and understanding that there are so many nuances to relationships, especially when they are so young. She also has gone on record saying that Skin wasn't about any one person in particular, and I think that's worth noting. Having been a long-time fan and basically having watched her grow up, I don't think she's the kind of young woman who would ever pit women against each other. So while it certainly could be assumed that Skin was directed at Olivia, I don't believe that was Sabrina's intention. I think she was just pointing out that the internet is a wild and dangerous place even when the "facts" they think they have are almost all assumptions. There are also other fan theories about what Skin is about that have nothing to do with the whole situation, and we likely will never know the truth behind it. Anyways, long-winded opinion over. I'm always glad to see people appreciating her incredible talent, just wanted to share my thoughts!

I think overall I definitely agree with your assessment about “Skin!” It’s clear you’re commentary was rooted in a desire for Sabrina’s wellbeing. BILAB is definitely a better response song and I wish she would’ve taken some time to write and release this song-and she would’ve gotten much less backlash and garnered more sympathy and overall popularity. Hindsight’s 20/20 though!
