Hello, thanks for the video, really helped me to chose the thermal pads ! I have a question though, I want to replace the shroud of my GPU (MSI RX 6750 XT GAMING X TRIO) because it has a defect, but I can only find MSI RTX 3070/3060 Gaming x Trio shroud replacement, are they compatible (with my GPU) or do you know were I can find it ?
@TakeThatScrewOutКүн бұрын
Hello bro, I'm not 100% sure the 3070 version is identical front shroud with the 6750xt..because I haven't done the 3070 gaming X trio yet.. The Best place where you can possibly find a identical item is in EBAY, try to find pre owned and SPARE & REPAIR ITEM that is way cheaper. It's hard to fine just the front shroud, very rare. Or if the 3070 version is cheap.. Try to investigate the ALL MOUNTING POINTS of the Front shroud of your gpu if it match the photos of the 3070 version.. If does looks identical.. That should fit.
@solary648923 сағат бұрын
@TakeThatScrewOut okay thanks ! It does look indentical, but there is a small difference in size (In total length and width) between rtx 3070 and rx 6750 xt.... and they don't give dimensions of the shroud only.

Did you measure temps before/after by any chance? Also, I was thinking just to repaste, because I've never replaced thermal pads. How to check if they are still good in mine? I've never done anything to my card since I bought it in the beginning of 2020.

Great video 👍 Did this last night to find 1-2 mm of thermal paste squashed round the side of the die and 40% of the chip having no paste on at all. Pre hot spot temp of 110-113 degrees C with crashes, down to 72 under full load with everything maxed. Cheers 🍻
@TakeThatScrewOut4 күн бұрын
Great job bro! That's a massive drop of the temps.. Well done!
@JP-fo5kn4 күн бұрын
@TakeThatScrewOut 40 degrees is massive. I can't understand how there was so much paste on the outside, yet the chip remained clean 🤷♂️ We put a thin layer of quialty paste on after deep cleaning and the results speak for themselves. Thanks again 👍

is the non ti version of same card same thermal pad size ?
@TakeThatScrewOut4 күн бұрын
Hi bro! I haven't done the NON TI version of this card.. But tried some research for you, can't find any info so far.. You know what, based on the design and due to the TI version is just one step up from the NON TI, I assume that they have similar thickness.. I didn't say that's 100% accurate Info.. But you can't go wrong using the 1.5mm on the VRAM and 2mm thickness for the VRM's that's should be fine. Try to choose a SOFTIER kind of Thermal Pads like the Arctic.. That could adapt easily if there's any difference with the thickness. Believe me that will works fine without any problems.

@TakeThatScrewOut14 күн бұрын
It's better to get bigger size than you'll be short of the size. To make sure you cover the whole area of the die. Just cut the excess.

A PH1 screw driver is not a Phillips screwdriver. Phillips screw drivers are 1/4" (6mm) with a tip of a specific angle that's less than the one you're using. There's only one type of Phillips screw driver. The others are cross-point screw drivers of other types.
@TakeThatScrewOut14 күн бұрын
The Ph1 is equivalent to 1.3mm to 1.4mm. That PH stands for Philip Heads screw. As far as i know bro.
@carsonj403129 күн бұрын
Thank you. My card had a terrible application of thermal paste from the factory so it would regularly hit 85c-90c while gaming. I kept it like that for 3+ years because i thought it would be too hard to open up the gpu but it was so easy. Now it doesn't go above 70c
@TakeThatScrewOut14 күн бұрын
That's good to hear bro.. It's really worthied to change the pads, Paste and clean your fans and heatsink regularly atleast once in 6 months if you game regularly. To get the peak performance of your gpu.
@deadlypoisonedrose29 күн бұрын
I followed @NoPhayceX ‘s tutorial, and honestly the worst part is the stacking of the thermal pads, because it does soften with room temperature and just touching with your hands can extend them… I did as best as I could. I also found that cutting with scissors instead of a cutter gave a better result. Also one of the inner pads was absolutely STUCK, I cleaned as much as I could but there was still some paste left and I was getting tired of the process at this point honestly. I used arctic Mx-6 and used a spatula to spread it. When I reassembled there’s also a small screw that now doesn’t want to come out 😕. Testing right now on my computer if I see a difference in temps (looks like it does)
@TakeThatScrewOut14 күн бұрын
It's really fine to cut pads with scissors as long as your pads still has the outer plastic protector on both sides, and using spatula or spreader for the paste is the best way to do bro to be honest. That's what I recommend recently. Because it has better result than not spreading the paste manually.
@deadlypoisonedrose10 күн бұрын
@ yeah well I’m happy since doing this the card never goes over 80°C MAX. Apparently the 7900xtx also has this issue with thermals, don’t know why ASRock says it’s normal.
@TakeThatScrewOut10 күн бұрын
@deadlypoisonedrose what i've noticed about Asrocks triple design gpu's, most of them has that both side fans are blower and the middle one is exhaust, blows in other directions. Maybe this design is not that efficient..
@HüsamBey-o8t29 күн бұрын
Hello, I would be glad if you could help me. I have the same card. The temperature is 75cc, the hotspot is 110, is this normal? It is a 3-year card.
@TakeThatScrewOut14 күн бұрын
Hi bro, 110 is thermal throttling not normal at all. While playing games, or using your gpu on heavy loads should play between 60-80 deg. Celsius. If temps reach 100 deg, that too hot already.. That needs checking and not performing well. Cleaning fans and heatsink and changing pads and paste with a high quality one might help.

@TakeThatScrewOut14 күн бұрын
Bro it's not funny.. Sometimes you have to be creative or learn on how to consider what you have available on hand. Using thermal paste on laptop chips works really well get same result as using thermal putty or thermal pads. I've done that on my personal laptop, only downside is not reusable, compare to pads and putty.

That stuff on the VRAM is referred to as "Thermal Putty". I've been replacing thermal pads with thermak outty for a few years now. Works good, and there are quite a few good options these days. It squishes better than thermal pads can, so you can get much better core contact/pressure since the putty won't steal as much of the force that pads can. It' the perfect paring with a Phase Change Material such as Honeywell PTM7950 or similar.

Thanks for this video dude! I followed the steps of the video and the advice of people in the comments with the Arctic TP3 and MX4. After new past and thermal pads my core temp went from 90c to 70c and hotspot went from 110c to 86c. This all with lower fan speeds and probably higher clocks.

Hi, such a great video!! However, I added the 1mm pads, same brand you have on all but got CPU temps between 85 to 92C and 74 to 80 on GPU while gaming. I saw other blogs I have to add some 0.5mm pads on the VRAM. I added the Arctic MX-4 thermal paste on CPU and GPU. Would it be the thermal paste? I heard Arctic are good ones or do you recommend me adding the 0.5mm ones on the VRAM? I also have a Turiq TX-4 thermal paste just in case I have left due to a PC maintenance I did.
