So this video seems to share the exact temp numbers the first version did. Like you just used the same video before the modifications. Numbers didn't change at all. Didn't discuss the differences like you just threw the video together. What happened?

Best video I've watched on maintenance of a swap cooler..Question, wouldn't it be a good idea to put a mineral filter before the water shoot thing...Just so calcium/lime doesn't build up on the pads and in the drain pan? it seems like they all suffer from mineral buildup...

Recommend loosening the new anode rod (remove and reinstall with some pipe dope) so you can get it out in 2-3 years. Your water is eating those anode rods, so play to replace every 2 years or so. If you have removed it before, it is much easier to get out than one that's been rusting in place for a long time. Also recommend replacing the drain valve with a full port valve; best is a short brass nipple (3-4" long), a full port ball valve (threaded in/out), a second nipple (2"), a street 45 deg fitting, a hose adapter nipple (3/4" IPS to 3/4 GHT) and a cap. About $25 in fittings what you can use from tank to tank. This will give a much better success at annual flushing as the passages are much larger than the one supplied from the factory. If you flush every year, and change the anode rod before it's gone, you should get a lot of life out of the new heater. Actually, the old heater looks like it could have just used an anode rod, a better flush valve, and some maintenance -- but that doesnt make for good youtube videos :)... Good luck

Thank you for this video. So many folks always harping on about using vinegar from getting rid of scum off tiles to curing cancer! I'm sure Neil Armstrong took a bottle to the moon in case of...something. However, your video justifies it! I would've bet my bottom dollar that the vinegar would've come last in your test but this is just so surprising. Made my day. Thanks again.

Great video. I agree that if the races are still in good shape, just reuse them. Assuming the races are not rusty/pitted/scored etc, they are a bit of a pain to swap. Renting the bearing/race punch tool makes the job easier, as well as throwing the races in the freezer overnight. The new Xike bearings in the kit are definitely well made. I swapped mine after 8 years of neglect, It was time to upgrade before the inevitable happened. Thanks for the instructions. Cheers

Where do you set the regulator ?
@MrFredsDIY
@MrFredsDIY 2 күн бұрын
The regulator is adjustable. I find that it works best for me on the low end of the dial. When I am grilling, I generally turn the grill knob to medium and the regulator knob to low and tweak the knobs from there, depending on what I am cooking.

Hey Fred.. If you still want to use the outboard, you can set up a brace from the transom to the floor boards. That way the rear board becomes the hull and the tubes are just flotation. Always love your videos!

Thanks for commenting and thank you for watching. We need to get this boat back out on the water next month and mess around with it again. I have a few ideas along the lines of what you were talking about, but I also want to put more air in the boat. This is actually my second Seahawk 4. The first Seahawk had a one piece floor and we used to use the gas motor all of the time with the exact same set up. Roger and Jeff reminded me that we would often use the hand pump to top off the boat after launching it into the cold water. I believe that the air in the boat had condensed quite a bit after being on the lake all day. Maybe we should’ve tested the gas motor first lol.

@@MrFredsDIY One other thought is to try out an Intex Mariner 4, which is a bit tougher and holds much higher pressure in the tubes. It's even compatible with your existing motor mount. I occasionally see them "on sale" for around $200 if you keep your eyes peeled... Best of luck in whatever you do. I will keep watching :)

How long to you let the primer set/dry before you can apply glue?

30 seconds or so. The primer chemically softens the pvc to receive the glue and bond better.

Great video - thanks! Yes, very easy to follow. But you can't just buy a replacement pan?? Holy cow, I'm not trying to spend 2 or 3 weeks, welding, priming, painting, etc. if the pan just needs replacing..right? Or do they sell plastic liners of some sort?
@MrFredsDIY
@MrFredsDIY 3 күн бұрын
The replacement pan is hard to find. $193 on ebay when you can find it. Plastic liners would be an interesting idea. A few years ago I did purchase a new pan. As soon as it arrived, I took it to a powder coating place here in Las Vegas and paid them $150 to sandblast the new pan and powder coat it. It lasted two years. The pan in this video is that pan.

Yeah that’s more of a braze than weld, as it doesn’t melt the base metals. Quite strong result, though, likely due to good prep. For AC Tig aluminum welding it is critical to brush through the aluminum oxide, and not induce any contaminants. Stainless steel brush, cleaned either with isopropyl alcohol or acetone, and only used for prepping aluminum…

If you put a very light outboard on it it might be ok. You can get a Honda GX 35, only weight 9.5 kg. Not massive top speed about 4.5 mph but that's enough for that inflatable boat.

I was literally 30 seconds into this video when I realized that this was the man who I was looking for. Unfortunately, the other 20 videos I watched were basically a waste of time. It is quite difficult finding such specific videos. Although I did not need all of the information that you supplied in this video you made it pleasant to watch. Even stuff that I already knew was still entertaining to hear you talk about and see how you do it. The square bolt-3/8 socket thing was so simple but I was too pissed off to think about some thing that easy at the time I was working on the unit. Anyway, thank you.

Does a this need to be registered if you have a electric motor on it I live in the state of Maryland and the laws are a bit confusing
@MrFredsDIY
@MrFredsDIY 7 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching the video. It really depends on your state. I live in Nevada and it is required to be registered because it has a motor. I think in Utah their motto is, if it “floats it’s a boat”. I think it cost me $25 a year and it was pretty easy at the Nevada Department of wildlife. The funny thing is, I did have to take the boat there and roll it out uninflated so they could measure it. I thought that was funny.

I'd punch some holes in your aluminum tube or something similar. One, to suck in cold air further away from the fan. Two, on case that melts enough it is mostly water the hose can be submersed and the fan could push water up the hose. I'm going to build one but replace all of that ice with frozen drinking water. My RV freezer can freeze two at a time to add in as I use up the half frozen bottles inside. Maybe burying the aluminum hose between frozen bottles. How many hours can your fan hold a charge?
