But that wouldn’t be this at all. 🙂 This bike isn’t for me, and it sounds like it isn’t for you either, but what’s so special about this bike is that it has been so popular for all these years, despite very minimal changes. It continues to be one of the first bikes sold out at the dealer I filmed this at each year.

couldn't afford the 900rs so bought the 650rs in green . I don't think I've had so many compliments about the looks of a bike. Suits me it's light and got a decent amount of grunt and a sound from the engine on acceleration. 900 could be my next buy maybe used though.

Tough, I'm buying one really soon, it's a very low mileage '24 plate RS SE. But that's because I'm not a faddy teenager! The RS and RS SE, are great bikes. If I want a Paris Dakar tourer, I'll buy one, if I want a Road Racer, I'll get an Aprilia or Ducati. I just want a flickable, sexy slightly Retro Muscle bike, that's why I'm getting this.

I have an '18 Orange/Root beer RS. It is my 8th bike. It is hands down my favorite. Others included a pair of sportbikes, a dual sport, Street Triple, FJ -09, and the first year Versys 650 among them. You make many good points, the lack of cruise is absurd on any TBW bike (though this bike still has a throttle cable). But MOST bikes still don't have it. Or IMU's. And I'm ok with that. In my opinion, the RS strikes the perfect balance of neo and retro. I will get another bike, but you'll pry this one from my cold dead hands, lol! Nice review sir.

Excellent discussion from a point of view I haven't heard before that is very needed. Thanks! I'm returning to motorcycling after 15 years then a 5 year break in my (very) late 60's, and the 390 Adv (2023)'s versatility, technology, relative simplicity & reasonable pricing is exactly why I bought it. It is a lot of fun on any surface & easily manageable. Same reasons a beginner should consider it.

Hi Pete, Wayne here. I have a 2014 Spyder RT L. I really love. it but it does have a problem with Apple CarPlay as mine does not work as it should. Someome needs to come up with directions as to what to push when the spyder is moving as the touch screen is disabled so nobody can tell me what to push to answer or make a phone call. Also when I make a call ( NOT MOVING ) the audio sounds like I playing a 45 RPM record at 33 RPM can you help Can Am ( BRP ) does not have an answer ???????

Hi Peter, I live in San Francisco but commute once a month to Reno through the Sierra Nevada @ 7,800 feet high and lots of curves. I'm still deciding bw 900 Ryker and the 1,330 Spyder F3-S. Do you think the 900 is good enough for the hills ? Considering the high price differential bw the two models. Storage is not an issue with me but raw power and stability are important to me. Tks for you help.
@PeterLoweOne10 сағат бұрын
There’s definitely a power difference between the two, but the 900 is still torquey. I can’t be sure about how much the altitude will affect each engine, but as far as smaller mountainous areas out here on the east coast of Canada, I found the 900 Ryker to handle the long steep hills without an issue.

I want to capture the savings but I live in an apartment complex, and winter is coming up, and I don't know what I'd do to store it during the cold. It would be sitting outside.

I bought an '18 Raven Black metallic Star 250 two years ago at 66. I've added to it since. It has over 5100 miles so far. I keep it looking like new and is a ball to ride. Even when, at 68, I still have TT Moments. The bike likes leaning. And is the same size and over-all style as the Sportster of the mid-80's. And being a Lowrider Custom Cruiser, it's like sitting in a leather chair when just cruising around. Sounds like a Japanese sport bike though.
@robbikebob5 күн бұрын
I'd rather go for the 650RS. The 900RS is too much of a sportsbike in a retro jacket. If you like the style then you probably aren't interested in speed, I'm not. It's the same feeling I got on the triumph speed twin 1200. Nice bike, but to ride it just felt like a supernaked... that's not what I was after! I want to enjoy the whole retro experience at 30-70mph... not interested in any more. To get 100+bhp and sportsbike parts would be a complete waste!
@PeterLoweOne10 сағат бұрын
I hear you. The reason that you didn’t buy it is the reason that I did. I like the upright riding position, I love the looks, but I’ve always wanted a Kawasaki sport bike with great power, suspension, and brakes. This bike has (just about) everything that I was looking for in my motorcycle shopping.
@guderian77955 күн бұрын
The colour for the Canadian market is the same from 2023-2025 which is disappointing. I looked into importing one into Alberta from Montana but with the exchange rate I don't want to pay 10K for a Versys x300.
@golanheights90006 күн бұрын
You definitely need a rear fender delete to fix that exact look.

Why don't you put some effort into producing quality footage. Get an ND filter for your camera lens and adjust the frame rate and shutter speed. Then your LED lights won't flicker. You could have 100K or more subscribers if you put some EFFORT into being better, then just getting by, or being lazy.

Where is the RPM at around 60 MPH on both of these? Someone said eliminator is at 6,000 but haven’t confirmed.
@PeterLoweOne5 күн бұрын
I don't remember off hand, but keep in mind, comparing RPM between two different engines and two different sized engines is a little misleading. A transport truck runs at 1000 rpm and redlines at 3500. An economy car with a 1.5 litre engine runs at 3000 rpm. A 1000 cc motorcycle doesn't even bother to clearly show rpm until it's over 4000 rpm. Nobody would wish for a 1000cc bike to rev like the economy car or for a car to rev like a transport truck. If these bikes are designed to handle the revs, I wouldn't worry too much about the 500 to 1000 rpm difference that they might have at a different speed.
@pknightrider3 күн бұрын
@@PeterLoweOne Good points. I confirmed RPM is at 4,500 @ 60 MPH by the way. Wouldn't you agree wear and tear is still a factor if riding at 5,000 RPM let's say, for purposes of long trips vs more casual use of a bike? 80,000 miles at an average of 5,000 RPM vs a truly cruiser design at lower RPM has to matter as far as longevity. I'm not an expert yet, just thinking.
