This is really the best brand of football no doubt.

The Peter Caven incident was outrageous. The player PC recklessly threw his head into Tony Locketts elbow with complete disregard to TL's safety. The penalty given to player Lockett will live in infamy in AFL! Plus, Billy Brownless kicked a footy over the silos in Mirool, in NSW. Which one of these kids playing today can do that?! Please bring back the goal umpires white coats, and white hats. These schlumps these days look like homeless dudes that got recruited by some woke recruiting outfit.

I think Warwick Capper over Langford could have been alot higher up the list and also a couple of modra's were unbelievable as good as Gary Ablett snr was unfortunately it wasn't a mark I think the umpires just paid it cause it looked good but as far as moorcroft and smith's mark hard to spilt really smith touched the moon and moorcroft almost did a backflip so either one of them could have been number 1

This is amazing if the AFL did expand into la they probably would have been as big as mls what are missed opportunity for the AFL with all the cookie cutter stadiums that they used to have over there which city is like San Diego Houston New Orleans Miami Atlanta St Louis Cincinnati Chicago New York Washington and San Francisco

Jimmy Bartel sprinted what looks like close to, if not more than 50 metres as soon as that ball got kicked and then took a massive leap, to get on top of the pack like that. That’s an insane feat of athleticism.
@longjohn5322Ай бұрын
Sampi’s mark was close to perfection. I don’t rate the marks on the chest. The classic hanger must include taking the ball in your hands. The Ablett “mark” still gets included in many lists compiled beyond this one but to me it was nothing more than an umpire prematurely blowing the whistle or simply being star struck.

A lot of mentions over the years has been said about the famous 1958 Premiership win over Melbourne that day. It was true that Collingwood had not beaten Melbourne in the past ten games we played against them previously . The best result was a draw in 1957. The losses go back to the start of 1956 up to the Second Semi loss of 1958 in that Final series. Melbourne had beaten Collingwood twice in 1958. The AFL records i started to look up go back to 1946 post war matches .From 1946 to 1950 there was seven losses and two wins . From 1951 to 1955 there were seven wins and one loss in our favor . From there Melbourne began a long list of nine wins and one draw up to the 1958 Grand Final . From 1946 to 1958 Collingwood had 17 losses , 1 draw and 10 wins. The great rivalry has diminished somewhat over the decades however the famous 1958 Premiership win was truely against all odds.

Not enough love for Aussie Jones - 4 or 5 bounces then casually finish it of on your non preferred. (Although with Aussie it was almost impossible tell his preferred from non- preferred)

Why did they call Lockett a pig at full forward,? I don’t get it, because he kicks lots of goals,? Or he eats a lot,? Or is he fat,?
@Adam-XL28 күн бұрын
People at the time assumed it was a diss on Lockett, but the pig prank was actually done by a couple of Saints supporters, Lockett was out injured on the day so they thought it would be funny to have a pig replace him

Its a funny coincidence that for AFL the 90s was the decade that delivered and for the NRL it was the decade of self destruction and War .Both games were on a equal footing at the start of the decade by the end of it the AFL was the clear front runner in the battle of the codes.The Australian sporting landscape would be alot different if things went differently .The Super league War nearly destroyed Rugby League ,there teams in Adelaide ,Perth were casualties of war and alot of disgruntled League fans turned to the Swans and Lions .Without the war Rugby League wouldve been in the position the AFL finds itself and the Swans and Lions would of most likely folded and there would be no Giants and Suns for sure and the Western Reds and Adelaide Rams would be like the Swans and Lions .Rugby League is only now really getting over the war and is gaining ground again in the battle of the codes The AFL isn't as secure at the top as the last 30 years have made it seems it hasn't always been so easy .

Thank you so much to the uploader for this video. The footage is special. My Dad is #14 for Collingwood, Bill Serong (VC). Dad passed away a few weeks ago so watching this is a great way to keep his memory and talent alive. I was born long after he finished his playing days so I never got to see him play footy, watching this is brilliant. Thanks again
