Magically, this happened to me last week. My brother recommended me to replace both rears so going to do that. Does it require an alignment after the replacement? I'm assuming no because its not connected to the wheels like coilovers are.

Would have liked to have seen you disassemble the coil over assembly. Did you need the spring compressor when you took the old one apart?
@georgeparker555
@georgeparker555 10 ай бұрын
Yes you should have a spring compressor on for safety
@cbro412
@cbro412 10 ай бұрын
You can use a wall and tire if you don't have access to a compressor. Not the safest way, I know. But it's not that dangerous. You set one end of the strut on the ground against the wall, you have your impact on the top nut, and the tire in front of that. Run the impact slowly, until the mount is almost free keep the tire close, when its time the spring will let go and you'll hit the tire with minimal shock.

I swapped mine last weekend. Drove it to get engine warm and the heater got so hot I had to roll the windows down! After that it never got warm again so I thought it could've been a bad connection. I am getting this also. What one did you get the image that looks like what we have and not the one that keeps showing up in the search for the OEM part?
@Puddulz
@Puddulz Жыл бұрын
I ended up having to do extensive research to match the vapor canister. The OEM part I replaced on had a “PA66” serial number. When searching for a OEM replacement numerous vapor canisters pop up across both Hyundai and Kia models. I ended up having to take pictures on my original part and keeping an eye on eBay for an exact match specifically keeping an eye on the Mount layout. I found an exact match for a “Kia Forte Koup 31410-3X400” vapor canister. When it arrived it had a series number of “31420-2V500”. It was the part I needed based on a photo match but the serial numbers didn’t match up. Seems like Hyundai/Kia had a generic PA66 tag on their vapor canisters then later made small Mount placement changes to them forcing unique serial number tags. Multiple Hyundai/Kia models share the same canister and can be confusing to track down the exact part you need. Do a search for both of those serial numbers I mentioned above but double check they Mount/screw placement is an exact match to what on your Kia/Hyundai model. Hope this works. I found mine on eBay and installed as this video directed within 20 minutes. Reset the codes and drove it around a few days in both city and highway speeds to allow the cars computer to clear the code before going to my emission test.
