Were there any orders for people dedicating their lives to God at that time?

Abelard had some issues with trinity which he saw as being explained in an illogical way. He set about to find a logical way to describe it, and in doing this arrived at a more Sabellian explanation. He was accused of Sabellianism and this is largely what led him to be branded a heretic.

Thank you very much for this interesting description and analyse of the book, I will definitely read it. I came up to your video through the book of an other algerian author Wassyla Tamzali, Une éducatation algérienne, where she talks about her encounter with Assia Djebar. An other algerian author I have read recently is Yasmina Khadra, les Vertueux and l’Attentat, both very interesting.

What a great idea! I read this when I went to Paris last year. It was a transformational book that has made me keep learning about the Commune and the rise of socialism and communism.

I really love this book as it’s so interesting to hear actually get to see the accounts and trial of someone being persecuted for heresy/blasphemy. There are countless times it happened back then im sure.

Very informative and illuminating presentation of the life of this Saint whose life is not easy to understand. Well presented. Thank you very much. For info, The Link to "My Literature Blog" does not work. Please provide us with a revised one, if possible.

Bête in French evokes a beast and an animal but we also use it to mean stupid or daft. So that gelled well with his total absence of witty, intelligent conversation as part of the curse. I want to re read this now! Thank you for the video :) Edit because you did mention that later in the video 😂

Glad to see folks in your generation still fascinated by history! Way back in the 1980s, when I was at George Washington University, Dr. Davis came and lectured on her work and on the movie she consulted on. She was a friend, colleague and former school mate of one of our professors, Dr. Lois Schwoerer. It was a great lecture delivered by a dynamic and powerful historian. Thanks for keeping interest in her work alive!

Great explanation! I am a descendant of John the fearless through his bastard Son John Bishop Of Cambrai and John the fearless mistress Agnes De Croy . The Bishop, like his fathers weakness of the flesh, fathered no less than 36 Illegitimate Children. A Few and one in Particular named Wilhelm Van der hagen who was a one of the first settlers of the Azores islands. He financed ships to take Flemish people to these newly discovered islands on the advice of Queen Isabella from Potrugal, married to the Duke of Burgundy, Phillip the Good. The reason was the 100 years war and the suffering of the people in those lands. Many Azoreans are descendants of this line. This is mentioned in a series of works by Gaspar Frutuoso A priest who wrote "Suadades da terra" Book 7 on the colonization of the Azores around 1585. very interesting stuff. At the time of his writings it was still relatively close in years that these stories were passed down and Frutuoso wrote about them. Thanks for such interesting content. Those Mid evil Burgundians were something else.

Thank you for relating this story to Frankenstein. I did a second reading and related this story to Frankenstein because it involves scientists. They both don't think about the aftermath of their experiments. They think about the immediate results to fix a problem. Scientists get excited about discovering new drugs etc. and they don't think about the end result to humanity.

Nice analysis. I'm fairly sure that it is Ruggerio the moor who rescues Angelica from the ork in the sea. One great thing about Ariosto's characters is that none of them are wholly good or bad, all shades of gray, even his heroes and villains. Reading Furioso without reading Orlando Innamorato first is kind of pointless as it is a clear continuation of that epic.

Literature is also an artform. So teaching Literature should cultivate an aesthetic sense. Something like "King Lear" doesn't tell really tell us anything about prehistoric Britain or all that much about Jacobean England. But it tells us a lot about experiences in our common humanity and how those can be expressed poetically and dramatically.

It is so good to see you again!! Many congratulations on the wedding and getting the first chapter of the PhD accomplished!! I have so enjoyed following your journey to France, your comments and experiences. I would like to see you have everything all together on one channel. Perhaps a first word saying Animals if the entire content is on that subject. I read almost all non-fiction and interestingly, I have been lead down the rabbit hole several times because of your comments and books. Whatever you do, please let me know so I can follow you and your life adventures!!
