Amazing job! I love the no nonsense approach to telling the story found in your videos. Keep up the good work. It’s high quality, entertaining, and I cannot wait to see more.

Dino was a brilliant man, a visionary and bigger than life figure. I don't care about all the crap some movie historians throw on him and his movies. The man's movie catalogue over the years is simply OUTSTANDING! And not just for his hits but also for his "so called" flops. Most of those "flops" are highly revered cult classics nowadays and opened the door to a ton of brilliant filmakers like Lynch, Raimi, etc, etc... An italian Cecil B. DeMille indeed. If only hollywoke nowadays had producers with half the brain Dino did. But unfortunately isn't the case at all. I've seen and enjoyed most of his movies over the years. RESPECT!

After watching this i feel very very sad . Many more movies could have been made if the small studios of the 1980 -1990 would have survived. 😪

THIS was such a SHAME. I mean, these titles MADE my childhood up to my late teenage years. DEG was full of a lot of great titles it's just they got their credits (mostly) AFTER getting into VHS rentals. nuff said?

Can you imagine being a studio executive?! Thousands of people are depending on you to produce films that generate tens (or even hundreds) of millions of dollars. What a job!

Dude, Wilmington, North Carolina is NO WHERE close to any mountains. It's on the freaking beach! Look at a map next time!

I miss when we had larger than life producers like Dino de Laurentis instead of the dull bean counters of today. He really deserves a feature-length documentary about his life. My favorite thing about him is when Dune flopped, he still thought enough of David Lynch to let him go make Blue Velvet.

Correction: Wilmington, North Carolina does not have any mountains, but other parts of NC do (like Asheville). Film producers around this time were attracted to North Carolina as a whole due to its varied landscape overall, which was ideal for production (beaches near Wilmington, mountains near Asheville, etc).

I noticed that, when the map of North Carolina was shown. The Los Angeles/Hollywood area has mountains and the coast within a relatively short distance. Wilmington, NC doesn't.

Whoa whoa whoa . . . Did you say Wilmington had mountains?! I’m a N.C. Native and Wilmington is a beach city. The mounts are about 7 hours in the opposite direction. Maybe you meant to say North Carolina as a whole had varying terrain, because Wilmington literally sits at sea level 😂😂 The studio lots are still there too, operating as Screen Gems.

Ignore the critics and The box office. The Bounty: Fantastic, Dune: Fantastic, Manhunter: Fantastic, Year of the Dragon: Fantastic, Flash Gordon: Fantastic.

This is the first time I've come across your work, and i went to binge your back catalogue. I was shocked to see you've only made 13 and the most regular ones starting 5 months ago. For your quality of research, writing, editing, and general presentation, i assumed you made at least 5 times any videos as that. Very impressive. I'm looking forward to what's to come. EDIT: Also, your Touchstone Pictures video was great as well.

His first three American films are incredible. I absolutely love 3 Days of the Condor, and Deathwish and Serpico are cinematic classics. What a debut. The Dead Zone, Firestarter, Conan, Dune, Blue Velvet, Silver Bullet, and Maximum Overdrive are all films I cherish too.🎥🤌🏼❤️ Thanks Dino. RIP DEG🔥

Manhunter is the most underrated movie ever. It’s so much better than Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, and Red Dragon.

Dino De Laurentis-produced movies were a HUGE staple in my childhood. The Conan movies, Death Wish, Flash Gordon, Dune, even the animated Transformers movie. Those TV deals he made for those movies made them a big part of my Saturday afternoons. It’s funny, the first time I had seen his daughter’s name, Raffaella De Laurentis, was for the Jackie Chan & Jet Li movie, The Forbidden Kingdom. It was so refreshing to see that the De Laurentis name was still being associated with fun movies.

I think the ability he had to get interesting movies with excellent casting was amazing. No one can predict what audiences will pay to see [timing can be very fickle. by the way Red Sonja was a B. Neilsen film [Arnold was only supporting role]; Cats eye and Silver bullet should have been hits too
