This is a very refreshing way to review a laptop! Most KZbinrs review laptops completely from the perspective of a KZbinr and seemingly assume that everyone is a KZbinr. For example, they talk about the SD-card reader and the performance in Final Cut Pro as if those are the most important features of a laptop. The things you talk about as a student matter so much more to so many people!

Really just looked into the Studio yesterday, and as a result, checked out a ton of videos. You, Kevin, really have the best everyman’s/woman’s review out there. Studio is a bit deceiving name, and why we initially just glanced this one over. Had zero idea about the functionality, and like gaming specific laptops, thought this one had specific uses as well( which it does, of course ). My daughter is going to start being an undergrad this fall, and is in the early assurance program for Pharmacy. She likes the note taking abilities of this one. Microsoft and Best Buy both have some deals, and while my daughter thinks the specs you have are fine, Microsoft has a $500 student discount for the second from the top, which I know would be better for six years of school. More memory and updated chips can only be a good thing. Still loving/appreciating your Studio, Kevin?

Great review. I had the same annoyance carrying both a laptop/tablet to school but I ended up investing in the Magic Keyboard for my iPad. Although it doesn't fully provide that full laptop experience, it's more than enough for my basic needs. However, I can see justification to purchase this device for someone who may require Windows Software while also needing a tablet & pen. Then again... the Surface Pro line-up may be even a way better value. Since you create videos, you probably wanted the better GPU I imagine.

The use cases for staged mode is indeed limited, but it's designed for "intake". So when you're watching a movie or similar because it also makes a "fake surround" because of the tunnel angle. The other use case is things like Gaming where you can use a controller.

Provided your machine can push a frame for every buffer swap, the two are functionally identical in terms of visual data rate: 530MP per second vs 497MP per second. In terms of gameplay? I won't be upgrading from 3x 144Hz 24" screens any time soon - I'm 56 years old! Seeing more than 60 fps is a miracle I haven't experienced since I had 72Hz Viewsonic CRTs and a Matrox G400 way back in 1998.

I use a 27" 1440p 144hz monitor and I'm actually considering going back to a dual 1080p setup. It's not so much the resolution, but I miss the size of the smaller 24" monitor sometimes. With work, I sometimes feel like I become less productive with the more screen real estate that I have.
@CosmicApe3 жыл бұрын
@AmpEdition It's more like I find I try to fit too much on a single screen at a time and get distracted. With a smaller 1080p screen, I can have more focus on the task at hand with two windows up with some reference stuff on the side. On a larger monitor with higher resolution, I had so much stuff on screen that I lost focus on my work.

@@ziting5756 yes, the rk61 is only like $60 on Amazon, and has essentially all of the features of this, including wireless.
