This is a very refreshing way to review a laptop! Most KZbinrs review laptops completely from the perspective of a KZbinr and seemingly assume that everyone is a KZbinr. For example, they talk about the SD-card reader and the performance in Final Cut Pro as if those are the most important features of a laptop. The things you talk about as a student matter so much more to so many people!

Really just looked into the Studio yesterday, and as a result, checked out a ton of videos. You, Kevin, really have the best everyman’s/woman’s review out there. Studio is a bit deceiving name, and why we initially just glanced this one over. Had zero idea about the functionality, and like gaming specific laptops, thought this one had specific uses as well( which it does, of course ). My daughter is going to start being an undergrad this fall, and is in the early assurance program for Pharmacy. She likes the note taking abilities of this one. Microsoft and Best Buy both have some deals, and while my daughter thinks the specs you have are fine, Microsoft has a $500 student discount for the second from the top, which I know would be better for six years of school. More memory and updated chips can only be a good thing. Still loving/appreciating your Studio, Kevin?

Saw your review and bought this a while back, excellent laptop, tossed my MacBook Pro 14" 2021 model for this one and never looked back!

Don't you miss the MBP battery life and performance?
@msp5138 Жыл бұрын
@@davidletterboyz MBP's battery life ain't better and MBP performance sucks. No touch screen, pen support, adjustable screen, etc. Let's not forget MBP's class action lawsuits: cracked screen, green screen, connectivity issues, thremal throttling, keyboard issues. Have you gotten your $395 keyboard lawsuit check? No wonder MBs have 8% laptop share...lol

The use cases for staged mode is indeed limited, but it's designed for "intake". So when you're watching a movie or similar because it also makes a "fake surround" because of the tunnel angle. The other use case is things like Gaming where you can use a controller.

Great review. I had the same annoyance carrying both a laptop/tablet to school but I ended up investing in the Magic Keyboard for my iPad. Although it doesn't fully provide that full laptop experience, it's more than enough for my basic needs. However, I can see justification to purchase this device for someone who may require Windows Software while also needing a tablet & pen. Then again... the Surface Pro line-up may be even a way better value. Since you create videos, you probably wanted the better GPU I imagine.

Mine is great, with the dedicated gpu version you also get a capable gaming laptop and basically an Xbox with gamepass

What laptop would you recommend for splitting your screen one side for reading and the other for researching? Great Review.

I was also looking at purchasing the surface studio for dental school so this was extremely helpful, thank you so much! But, I was wondering if when it is in tablet mode does it have a upward angle due to the hinge or does it lay flat?
@kztang2 жыл бұрын
There is a very slight upward angle of ~5-10º, but this also makes writing on it more comfortable!

What about the battery life for dental school? I mean when I take it to the school until I finish my day, would it be enough? Thnx
@kztang2 жыл бұрын
It lasts me the entire day on a full charge on basic tasks such as note taking or checking your email. If you are doing more power hungry tasks such as using a program for classes, it may need a charge but you should be able to find an outlet on campus pretty easily!

If you had the RTX version You would have more Crazy power, like: more game performance much more better speakers and last but not least More storage up-to 2TB

I have a question: Can this laptop's battery last good enough so that I don't have to carry a charger everyday to my university?
@kztang2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it should definitely last you an entire day! Just make sure to not be using it at full brightness and as long as you're not doing intensive tasks it should be fine

You don't use split screen for notes and research?
@kztang2 жыл бұрын
I do when I'm typing out my notes, using split screen while writing on one side is not as viable in my opinion
