No worries at all, glad it helped you out. Just keep to simple rigs in the Murray. Best baits are a bunch of tiger worms, corn kernels and shrimp on a size 1 hook. Summer is a great time to head out and catch a heap of carp too, just remember they are a pest and must not be returned to the water. Hope you catch a few 🎣

@GetUpAdventures
@GetUpAdventures 4 ай бұрын
Actually illegal since July 2023 in SA where I am from, and this was filmed during the floods December 2022. From what I’ve read and seen though, the new legal pyramid nets are catching more turtles than the opera houses ever did.
@T.J-and-Soul
@T.J-and-Soul 4 ай бұрын
@GetUpAdventures ok good, my bad I didn't realise you were S.A. pyramid nets are confusing too. You can use them for yabbies but not for crayfish. That makes no sense to me? I can understand turtles being confused and drowning in a pyramid net. Opera house nets were banned to save Platypus.
@GetUpAdventures
@GetUpAdventures 4 ай бұрын
Yep, they sure were banned to save platypus in other states, but platypus have been extinct in SA since 1970’s. Now the pyramids nets are claiming all our turtles. It’s sad!

Why is this better for carp? Why not just a basic running sinker with a swivel?
@GetUpAdventures
@GetUpAdventures Жыл бұрын
This rig gets your bait just off the bottom, running sinker rig will have the bait hard on the bottom. Some days this makes all the difference depending how they are feeding.

@@GetUpAdventures yeah ok, good to know. I’ve seen in videos from overseas they use a “hair rig”. What do you think of that for carp in Australia?

Usually run a hook with cockle and the other with squid. Sometimes they prefer one to the other too. Can also put cockle and squid on the same hook, the squid tends to stay on longer as its tougher.

@gyulahohmann3123 Жыл бұрын
Pretty interesting, we use running rigs,single hook #6 or#4 long shanks on a 50 -65cm length trace depending on current. Like that dropper loop idea. Do you use your rig on the drift or anchored?. I love making all my rigs in advance and they're all wrapped around some dense foam holders. Yeah, definitely saves you alot of time when they (the Fish start goin )and there all sorts happening, hooks swallowed , tangles from fishing going at the same time, etc,... as I'm sure you know 😅👍
@GetUpAdventures
@GetUpAdventures Жыл бұрын
Thanks, these rigs work well both anchored and on the drift. Using two hooks gives the chance of a double header if they are schooled up and on the chew. Pre tying rigs is definitely the way to go to save some time while on the water!
