No matter what tools are used, you can’t compare a project that lol a year or more to one that took only two weeks. But the AI tooling makes the two-week project possible, even though the quality will never match what you can get if you take more time. But in any case, the AI tools will improve how quickly you can get good results.

@@wilkesreid not so much, they are insanely talented enough to unfuck the bad ai composites from WDAI. They have an Xsens, and access to other grids for optical mocap. This is purely an ad for Autodesk, and its clear where exactly this tech starts and stops. Educational use only my friend.

Great showcase of volume rendering with Arnold, but... Wouldn't it be better to show off the capabilities of Bifrost within Maya and create the explosion there? It'd be good to see Bifrost's user base expanded by bringing it to 3dsMax, too.

For what? Mediocre animation? Basic rigging? Unsatisfying timelines? Bad graph editor? You convinced me!
@JohnLogostiniАй бұрын
@@pixbaddy Look up (Embark Asset Processor); they have replaced most Autodesk tools with a Blender-Houdini mix. This is similar to my current workflow. They are the developers of The Finals and Arc Raiders. They were the Battlefield 1 / Battlefront 1/2 team. I'd give Blender a fair shake in terms of modeling, sculpting, and asset cleanup. It's an amazing tool that rivals most paid software on its own merit. The only thing I must say is animation still isn't the best, though it isn't the worst, but you can't beat the price of free and, more importantly, no license server.

I'm an animation teacher and would like to say animation may be "tedious" for egghead programmers but not for animators. Your estimates are also wildly inaccurate - days and weeks for things that would take minutes and hours by anyone with even a basic skill level. This stuff looks great but no need for the hyperbolae.

I still don't know if there is any point in learning such complicated things or continuing with this job! It seems clear that artificial intelligence will put an end to everything within a few years. Paying thousands of dollars a year for all these programs and spending years to become a professional, but what will be the result?

Is this what Houdini already did right? Sadly Autodesk is staying behind Houdini and blender :(. The moment they killed xsi and since there is not that much competition...
@hound_of_justice2 ай бұрын
Behind Blender? Blender has a long way to go to get close to Maya. And Houdini as good as it is its still mainly at the front when it comes to simulations, VFX, procedural stuff. Animation, rigging, modeling and some other stuff are not its main domain.
@demianpelos2 ай бұрын
@hound_of_justice yep Maya I think today is behind blender. Companies don't change to blender or Houdini since they already have pipelines around Maya. But Houdini is a whole pipeline! No need for programers is amazing... But hard to learn and master
@hound_of_justice2 ай бұрын
@ The biggest advantages Blender has over Maya are sculpting, geonodes and non destructive modeling. Generally tho Maya has the edge and in animation, rigging, grooming and simulations for example Maya obliterates Blender and has a more straightforward workflow. Houdini is amazing btw but its not the best for everything, VFX is its main domain, not animation and rigging, not modeling in general, not texturing and so on.
@demianpelos2 ай бұрын
@hound_of_justice Maya have. Idea and. On destructive as well. Is more advanced but sure it does have nodes as well.
@vladartiomav24732 ай бұрын
@@hound_of_justiceI would say Blender has an advantage just in modeling, thanks to the shortcuts and how it is fast to use them compared to gizmos and look dev workflow and the fact that you can do a complete pipeline in one program (not as advanced as a real industry pipeline though, because it’s not the best at everything) But other than that, I don’t see any other advantage.
