I think that since it's based on MaterialX, other renderers might add support for it in future updates. Why don't you just use plain MaterialX instead? That's a good question

The problem i have with this: Let's say i create a composition.usd. in there i create an xform and reference the ldv_toy_dinosaur02.usd. Then all the content from the sublayers of the dinosaur.usd is not loaded, when it is outside of the composition.usd scope. This is quite useless. When i load the dinosaur.usd as sublayer in the composition.usd, it works. But then the it is stiff loaded in terms of the hierarchy. i could not move it around let's say in a subfolder. Does nobody need those features?

Its certainly not perfect, but I think this could make for a pretty good tool. With how expensive motion capture can be to do, this could be a good alternative for animating realistic human movements on a budget. It still needs cleaning up by a human animator, I noticed a lot of foot-sliding and the stiff movements arent appealing. I thought I would've been against this when I first saw it, but I actually think this might be the first use of AI in a tool that is genuinely useful. I'm no 3D animator, i've only done a bit of it in school. But from what I have done, it's not easy to get something to look good. Having a tool that takes all the dirty work out of it and lets you have more time to focus on the finer movements seems like a godsend for novice animators, or animators on a tight deadline. I don't have Maya so I cant try this out for myself, but would actually show this to my animation teacher and see what he thinks about this

Hello MG, my scene's having a problem. Or, three... I. The particles, when they were emitting (not any more; more on that later), were scrambling along the surface of the semi-sphere for the first few frames before bursting off. II. I had to put gravity up to -500 to get the particles to behave in any way approaching normalcy. They were bursting outward and flying off in straight lines with gravity at the correct -9.8. (I tried reducing their rate, knocking out self-collisions, reducing their speed, etc.). III. Now, after all that, the scene will not emit particles at all. I tried deleting and rre-creating the basic particle graph, creating new emitter geo, etc, all to no avail. I did create a whole new scene with a torus as the emitter, and it worked perfectly. Signed , Perplexed.

Looks cool but despite how easy it is to use and an almost one click solution it is crazy how hard the techncial and rigging part of this are. You'd think you'd have it work with the standard rigs with premade human characters like DAZ, Iclone, Mixamo, Accurig, etc. But it ain't that easy. This is another tool like Metahuman that misses the mark despite the promise. Metahuamn has all this cool head technology and forget the body so everyone is wondering around with 3 same body types and look weird on a realistic head.
