Love your enthusiasm ! I enjoyed studying chemistry as well, but I wasn't very good at Maths and wasn't passionate about studying very hard maybe because I wasn't super intelligent coupled with no sense of purpose why I should want to commit so many organometallic reactions, for example, to memory.. So never got beyond completing a few Master's degrees, never sure about what I wanted to do career wise. In the end I went back to university, qualifying that time round as a gemmologist and as a geologist, then started a small scale alluvial gold mining business using money I inherited.

I am Chemistry lecturer at degree college, I have 7 publications and 2 native language book author, So I would like to get Ph.D in Chemistry. How is possible to get it.
Does ph.d in molecular biology involves animal dissections?

Hi Hari! This is Megan! I did not do any dissections during my PhD! You can and should make it clear upfront that animal work is something that you are not interested in or comfortable with and I’m sure they will accommodate! If not, it may not be a good environment anyway! My apologies for the delay in response!

Can you tell me how to read Scientific books, I mean How you read them & get the most out of them on your own?
@youcandostem72572 жыл бұрын
Hi! I think one strategy that I can recommend is to start simple, and try to associate the material with things that are useful to you or thing that you deal with in the daily life if that is possible of course. When it start getting abstract or harder to grasp always ask for help to professors or scientific mentors, never feel like asking questions is wrong. If need you need more information please contact us at [email protected]

Do they do interviews for admission and what are the questions they ask?
@youcandostem72573 жыл бұрын
Hi Milian, thank you for your question! Usually Summer programs do not require interviews. you will only need to submit the application online. Application vary from program to program but in general to apply you will most need a personal statement, GPA and grades transcripts and at least three letters of recommendation.

Hi, there are many companies that sell GRE practice book, they are all pretty much the same, I can recommend the once I used but I am sure there are many others that have the same content, I found this website to be useful (www.bestcolleges.com/blog/best-gre-prep-books/). Kaplan and Princeton Review are the ones I used.

How did you get your first REU? And where was it?
@youcandostem72573 жыл бұрын
Hi Patricia! To apply to a research program you can go online and search for REU opportunities to apply to keep in mind that many many opportunities are completely free and some may offer a paid stipend. If you don't have previous research experience when preparing your application's personal statement (or research statement) you can talk about your experiences in laboratory courses and science clases (and ask for letters of recommendation from you college professors), this is usually fine to get your first REU. Now keep in mind that some REUs are specifically targeted for students without previous research experience (usually freshmen) I would recommend you apply to several of these. Here is a useful link that categorizes REU opportunity by year reufinder.com/programs-for-freshmen/.

Madam, 1. what are your research interests and how did you develop it??
@youcandostem72574 жыл бұрын
Hi! I developed my research interest through my experiences in summer programs and also doing some research and tutoring at my home institution. As an undergraduate student I had the chance to experience research in Physics, Engineering and Organic chemistry and ultimately decided to continue developing my experiences in Chemical Biology and Biochemistry where I can apply a little bit of everything I have learned. If you are figuring out what kind of research you would be interested in I suggest that you start by doing some research perhaps at your home institution, a good start point is working on a research project based on your favorite class material so far, as soon as you start exploring research you will get to learn about other areas/ research questions that might interest you. Feel free to email us if you have more questions [email protected]
