Hi Nick Can you please answer the difference between HOT ESD test and Cold ESD test!!
@nickthesailorman3602 ай бұрын
@@AnkitKumar-up1jr hi Yes of course the warm esd test is when the cargo manifolds have not yet been cooled down.The cold esd test is when the manifolds and the associated pipings have been cooled down with liquid LNG.There is also the cold stroke test which is basically to see that the ESD valves are operating whilst they are cold.

dry powder hose cabinet with 33 m must covered LOA of vessel and the manifold port and stbd must have dry powder monitoring, and for dry powder hose cabinet can disch 3 kg/sec and for dry powder monitoring 10 kg/sec, every dry powder hose cabinet and dry powder monitoring must be running min 45 sec, from that you can count the minimum capacity of fix dry powder tank on board, if i'm not mistaken...

Thanks Capt. Nick. Do you use the spray pumps also to cool the top of the tanks while sailing with cargo in all tanks? Or are the cargo tanks only kept cool due to cargo temperature and tank membrane insolation?
@nickthesailorman3603 ай бұрын
Hello there tanks are kept cold due to the cargo after having been loaded up to the acceptable filling levels.

I love and enjoy when someone is posting videos like this, thank you. Since the last time, I was a chief officer on board an LPG gas carrier, for every single operation, I passed my time explaining to my crew members the use of the DCP remote stations, paying special attention to the release of the system remotely and operating from the release boxes utilizing a NITROGEN PILOT cylinder or al- alternatively manually operated at the dry powder unit. A pilot valve opens the main discharge valve, and the dry powder flows through the distribution manifold to the monitor or hand hose line in question, as you have explained. At the present moment, I am looking for employment. Rgds

Can someone clarify that why nitrogen is used as propelling agent instead if co2 in DCP type fire extinguishing systems. I recon that moisture in gas may solidify DCP into cakes and similar substance but usually both nitrogen and co2 are dry gases .

I, as a fresh deck officer have one question, in case of fire drill or abandon ship drill, first of all crew needs to muster at muster station, where head count will be carried out and after this proceed to fire lockers to take firemans outfits and SCABA on muster station and put SCABA on at muster station ( in case of abandon ship drill crew need to first of all gather at muster station and after head count take sart, EPIRB, food and water on scene, OR on hearing the alarm and announcement they can directly take food, water , SART, EPIRB with lifejackets and immersion suits and than proceed on mUSTER station, which one is correct way? First gather at muster station and than take SART, EPIRB on scene, or on hearing alarm / announcement directly go to take SART, epirb and than go to muster station ? I think first we need to go to muster station and after head count we will go to take our assigned equipment and gear. Thanks for your videos

What is te main funtion of the compressor high duty and low duty in the ship?
@nickthesailorman3609 ай бұрын
Low duty handles gas and sends it to the engines or GCU
@nickthesailorman3609 ай бұрын
High duty while loading excess generated vapours are sent ashore and pre dry dock you can use it to warm your tanks faster

@boltaos10 ай бұрын
Nice video Captain, however I don’t fully agree on your liquid free procedure. I believe, that you have to monitor pressure on the manifold, and once pressure stops building up - you can consider it liquid free. Following by purging, etc.

Who will connect the pipes when loading or unloading the LNG?
@jorisvandongen931910 ай бұрын
Goodday, Interesting video. Just one question: Why was the fire treated as electrical? If i heared it correctly the ECR called to the bridge to confirm b-deck was isolated. Isn't it than just a solid fire? Or was it just for training purposes you kept it an electric fire? Rgrds

A few years ago I was in the LNG business and I had a ship that I would sail around the world and pull into ports and just download absolutely nothing and get paid handsomely for it. I literally would leave port, do a day in the ocean, come back to the same port and do it all over again. I eventually stopped but not before making a fortune. Hilarious.
