Very well done review. I am just getting ready to get back into riding, and I will definitely be testing this helmet. I tried on an LS2 Advant, and found it uncomfortable on the crown of my head. The slightly longer Advant X fit much better, but I am just not prepared to spend that kind of money. The explorer looks to be a good helmet at a good price, and I think the added room in front of my face will feel welcome.

nice review, what about residual value? and maintenance costs? mentioned competition: Honda. Yamaha, Suzuki.... maintain residual value, low costs and reliability too high. Maybe if you are going to move up or own it for at least 5 to 6 years then it would be a good choice but trade in in 2 or 3 years? let me know
@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure10 күн бұрын
Thanks very much. I am in no doubt that these bikes will be come popular. Biggest issue we face is inflation which affects motorcycle pricing. As the top brands become more expensive we start to look elsewhere for what we are used too. Residual values will depend on popularity and supply in the market. If they balance supply and demand it will perform well.

@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure Thanks for reaction, KTM is a major market leader, but its reputation and reliability are so poor, especially on 790 & 890 models with camshaft problems and a huge drop in value upon trade-in. Isn't it wise to buy a 2nd hand Suzuki or Honda instead of a Benelli or an old school like V Strom 650?
@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure9 күн бұрын
@@petroosabdollahian1648 I think most bikes will have some degree of issues. It's fine buying an old bike but make sure it has some degree of electronics to at least make it feel relevant. That's the way I look at it. My 2013 BMW F800GSA has pretty much everything the newer F850GSA had. Also I can generally take my bike on some serious trails and not have to be too worried about damaging it. I would think twice about a F850GSA though.
@petroosabdollahian16489 күн бұрын
@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure I will get a Honda then I won't have any problems and it will be relatively cheap to maintain. By the way, Benelli 502 like 702 suffer from wetness and rain. I wouldn't gamble on buying a Chinese one, not right now, maybe in 5 years,

The two bikes aren't really comparable; one is a 470cc para twin, the other is a 390cc single. The KTM is more comparable with the Triumph Speed or Scrambler 400 and the Enfield Guerrilla 450 (similar horsepower despite higher cc) while the NX500 is more similar to other Japanese naked bikes like the Kawasaki Z500. I've seen people do whole tours on the NX500 (like Mr Fish recently); maybe you should have tried them with a bit of weight on them to see what came out best.

I think the main competitor really is the Kawasaki Z500, which is slightly lighter and sportier but misses out on the dual discs and Michelin 6's. I'd say also the Royal Enfield Hunter and Guerilla are probably competitors in terms of capacity and price, albeit single cylinders. As is the Vitpilen. I have modified my Hornet 500 quite substantially. For anyone buying: SW Motech hand guards, Honda heated hand grips, 12V socket, meter visor, radiator guard, stompgrips, crash protection and rear spools, ventura rear rack. But this is a heavier 500cc, so also looked at weight saving. R&G rear footpeg deletes and an Arrow 71966PRI help save a couple of kgs. To anyone buying this bike, check out the Puig screen before buying the Honda meter visor. I Also be warned they will install the 12V socket in the tail unit, not the handlebar. So you'll have to buy your smartphone setup, eg. quadlock usb smart charger and wireless mounting head. This is a perfect commuter, town bike and courier bike for my purposes. Order everything at once and choose carefully, cos Honda has significant parts delays.
@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure22 күн бұрын
@@G-Man01 depends on the country. In some country the Z500 isn't available. Royal enfield tend to keep to traditional classic lines. Nice that you have one. I'm sure you are enjoying it.

The KTM has 12.2:1 compression ratio 2-ring piston single cylinder that is "ready to race", demands high octane gas, special oil, runs very hot, sounds like a metal box of marbles. What you need if you're going to race. Race what? It is more Indian-bajaj than Austrian. A small bike pretending to be a big bike. The NX500 is the big bike pretending to be a small bike, it's the most powerful iteration in Honda's lineup that shares the smooth parallel twin with Honda's legendary, proven build quality. It is unfair to compare these two bikes of different levels.
