Sexual harassment and sexual assault are both horrid, but they're very different magnitudes of horrid. Sexual assailants, e.g. Roiland, certainly ought to be replaced. It's a bit more of a gray area for harassment; by all counts Middleditch seems to be a gross sex pest, but it's possible that it ends there. The "soft cancellation" that's happened (e.g. not really hearing much of anything from or about him) seems pretty par for the course.

Nah, he's been divorced for over four years. I highly speculate he pushed for non monogamy and it wasn't her thing and contributed to things.

This feels a little bit loaded. Someone seems to have targeted the guy pretty hard, someone who might just have a vendetta against him. The allegation is, he groped a girl, she said no, he did it some more, then it was over. Yeah, not great, and should keep away from clubs, but not worth ending his career over. David Letterman did worse. I hope he keeps going.

Middleditch really fucked up by hitting on the WORST type of woman. Go ahead and check out the two women who called him out and see if you can do the math. Lack of talent and massive amounts of victim complex combined with “im special and not like the other girls”? Check. Hesitation scars and daddy issues? Double check.

@@dougdougw doesnt mean nothing. If they used to both follow each other and then now dont... thats pretty big. How many close friends and basically co owners of a company dont have each other on social media? Its far more odd than it is normal. I could all be completely off base, but there really isnt much pointing to that.

I don't think it's fair to speculate that they're no longer friends? When Ben's talked about Middleditch in interviews he's only had positive things to say about him. Also, I think it may have now been scrubbed from the internet, but the woman Middleditch allegedly groped had previously consensually hooked up with him. I think it changes the narrative a bit from predator creeping on random person to guy makes unwanted advances on previously reciprocating individual at sex club. From all the other screencaps and allegations that came out at that time (again mostly scrubbed from the internet) I still think the dude is a creep but this particular omission from the narrative always bugged me.

I think there ended up being a lot of women who hated working with him because he was creepy and his ex wife said some stuff about him that makes me think he's probably just a bit of a sex pest and hopefully not much worse

I used to get pretty hammered, and didnt grope anyone without permission. Im sure i was obnoxious to some people in some other way, but the urge to grope people without consent cant entirely be blamed on substance. I dont think its a massive deal, if Thomas had dealt with it responsibly.🙄

I’m coming over from Football Therapy and am already stoked for this channel! I absolutely loved the Netflix specials these guys did. Kept me sane at the start of the pandemic. I’m sad how things turned out with Middleditch, but understand why. I actually saw Ben Schwartz do improv in Chicago last year, though, so I’m grateful he still performs! I’ve done a little improv myself, and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to put themselves out there, make friends, or just have fun!

I’m personally annoyed by the ignorance coming from BBC. Because it seems like they thought people liked Top Gear because it was a car show. And by getting new hosts they would still meet the demand for a car show. That’s ignorant in a way. Because, they should have listened to their viewers. It wasn’t a car show, that wasn’t what made it popular. If it was just a car show it would have remained a moderately sized show in the UK. No. It was a comedy show with cars. That’s what it was. That’s what made it popular. The BBC never understood that, they just thought people wanted to watch cars. You can’t replace the comedy aspect with more fast cars. It’s not how it works. The comedy made people keep watching it, the cars were how they were conveying this sort of entertainment. I mean, look at the specials. Why did the BBC think people wanted to watch the specials? It wasn’t because people liked cool fast cars. It was because people wanted to be entertained by guys joking around with each other, making fun of things, people and situations and doing the impossible with terrible cars. A normal car show wouldn’t make fun of how all peugeot drivers were bad drivers, made a crappy electric car from a milk van and faking a crash test, make a car for old people that’s obviously exaggerating everything or feature old men glueing stereos to play annoying music at full volume in situations things really should have stayed quiet.
