My super Tenere almost drove me off a cliff because of ABS. Yes ALL ABS should be able to be turned off!!!!!!! It was down hill on a gravel road in the mountains. Yes some people DO take 600lb bikes off road and actually ride them. The ABS activating on gravel with a hard base gave me almost no breaks at all. I stopped only a foot away from the edge with no guard rail. That was the SECOND near miss I had with that nike and ABS. The ABS fuse came out that day and stayed out!!! ABS is DANGEROUS!!!!

It's fun to see these videos of older gold wings that still are running after all these years. But if you think about it, if you were to buy a newer used Honda off cycle trader for $5k with 80k on dial, you could literally drive it for 20K more miles and turn around and sell it again for $5k with 100k on dial. So I've been contemplating getting a Gold Wing for a trip across the South West and 2004 version looks pretty sweet.

Letting your fuel tank get below 1/4 full is the fastest way to over heat your electric fuel pump on your Goldwing. Best carry a spare pump now.👍

You could have "fixed the seal" with a plastic bottle. cut it into a J shape and run it under the rubber bushing and rotate it around the cylinder. Generally dirt or a whatever gets in there and causes it to leak. great video

Great video, I have a 2023 with 16k on it now and will agree with everything you mentioned plus the following. Its a safe bike to ride short or long distance because of it's brakes, seat comfort, cruise control and a very easy to read dash, plus all the adjustments you make while riding are very easy. There is virtually no fatigue factor riding it, physically or mentally, you are not fighting anything riding it, so at the end of each day riding you feel the ride but not overly tired from it and look forward to riding it the next day. Lastly, the weight of the bike is very helpful on the highways, not very often that you get blown around by passing trucks or side winds. You feel very confident going into corners, scraping pegs is not a problem. People all over the world put hundreds of thousands of kilometers on this bike with very little going wrong, just wear and tear items and good regular maintenance.

I have been riding a GL1200 fir 7 years. Topped 100,000 mikes this year. It was cheap to nuy and has served me well. One thing I don't like us it is extremely hot in summer. The big fairing holds the heat around me. Great in cool weather but when the heat of summer arrives I'm burning up. Looking for an adventure bike and want to keep the Wing and rebuild the motor. It still runs good but is noisy. Pretty sure the primary chain is worn out. Vlatters like a diesel if I lug it. Carb cleaning and balancing helped but still noisy.

The nice thing about switching to LEDs is less demand for hydro on your alternator . It's a win-win situation when you go to brighter lights and less demand on your alternator.

Definitely not cheap but every video I have seen about this jacket were very positive so I might just pull the trigger. I now have the Pando Moto shell uh 03 underlayer but I'm not really a fan of something tight on my body on a warm day. A breathable jacket would be a better option I think.

Great coverage of your test ride. I recently got this bike but it had 2200 miles and I snagged it for $15,000 US beneath MSRP and it already had better bars and pipes! Did my first trip and it was 3300 great miles with no trouble. The 114 has plenty of power and goes 50 miles farther on a tank than my 2011 which is awesome.

The reason the gear indicator doesn't work with the clutch pulled in is because of how it works. It says the gear based on two parameters: speed and RPM. If you think about it, each gear has a specific speed curve as RPM increases. The gear indicator knows this so it doesn't work until you're moving with the clutch out. Even if you pull the clutch in while rolling, it'll still show the dash (because your RPM's are out of any speed curve for all gears). It's easier to do this than have a switch with seven positions connected to the transmission like the V-strom.

Nice review. I think the kickstand is a compromise for all suspension settings. If it leaned enough on 1up setting it would lean too much when in 2 up + luggage setting. At 200lbs, when I ride solo without luggage I typically set in on 1up + luggage which is already a bit higher and leans more on the kickstand. Cheers!
