You’re really good at describing the sound of the record. It sucks how KZbin doesn’t allow music to play on videos in a show and tell format like our genre.

Yes quite cool, personally I don't want a detailed description, it's like knowing the plot of a film, spoils it a bit if over described.

One of the things that I always appreciate is hearing the input that you enclose with every album that you show Isaac. Your library and genre knowledge is vast. I am always learning from you. Especially when you talk about jazz. For instance the first one that you showed 'Evans and Mann'. I cannot say that I am a huge Herbie listener. But I am a fan of Bill. Checking that bad boy out. >< Yma Sumak. Another perfect example of how widespread your listening and your appreciation for many styles of music goes. >< I have seen the Gorilla album but I cannot remember what it sounded like. Who would you compare their sound to? Thanks again Isaac. Another strong post/update~ Rob/Boston
@blindislind7485 Жыл бұрын
As always, thanks for watching! And as far as comparable sounds to Gorilla, that’s tough. I’d say they are far more proficient than most bands of this era, but do not care about being serious. I honestly feel that the vocalist gives me Kinks vibes, but the music is a mash of Zappa sampling and Tiny Tim whimsy. Let me know what you think!

Thanks for the tip on the Albert Ayler "Music is the Healing Force of the Universe". I am surely aiming to grab one this weekend at the local record show. Isaac and Jazz Brad. You both did a fine x 10 job. I really dig the theme of five albums that do not get their due and need to be heard. Or need to be heard but do not get their due. Fabulously delivered gents~ Rob/Boston

Seeing you holding Smiley Smile ⏺has definitely got me smiling. 😎That Szobel album is actually one of the very early staples in the VC. I love it. I have a an original WLP on Arista. This was everything I wanted to hear in my early jazz listening. I heard some free, fusion and prog. How did you know about this one? Nice find on the Eddie Henderson. That's on Blue Note? Outstanding update Isaak. You never and I mean never disappoint~ Rob/Boston
@blindislind7485 Жыл бұрын
Hey Rob! As always, thanks for watching. I discovered that Szobel by going down a KZbin jazz rabbit hole. I’ve been waiting for a copy to make the rounds and I finally found it in the wild. Pretty great stuff! And the Eddie Henderson is a mid 70s blue note release. Thanks again for watching

Alright - now I gotta RANT - why did they only press 1000 copies of this Nebraska Cover Album!!?? I just got it - from England! - if it wasnt for the shipping would have been ok - but man its going for a lot more in the US. Maybe they will do a color variant down the road for everyone else. They should - this is amazing - its not even on Apple Music! Thanks again man looking forward to this one coming in!

Just found your channel! And Subbed! Congrats on becoming a Dad! Vinyl def takes a back seat to that (for a while😜). I def. appreciate the rant on RSD - I am a fan of any strong opinions! It might all be marketing hype - but its marketing to get VINYL out there - if tricking swifties can convince big labels to re open plants and get vinyl moving even more again - then we all win. That said - I clicked on this video because I was not aware of this Aoife O'Donovan - I only just recently got the Springsteen album and I really like it - more then I thought I would - I am definitely going to seek this out - I would love to hear these songs from a female voice too! Thanks!

Subbed back at you! Totally see your perspective! I think that it’s more of a rant for my own personal perspective on the matter. I don’t like it anymore, but you’re totally right, if it gets it out there, that’s a win. I am done with RSD but then again, everyday is RSD for me. Thanks again for the sun!

Congratulations on your news about becoming a father! That’s gonna be the best thing in your life. But, about the music. The Nebraska album has always been a favorite of mine. I’ve always wondered where Bruce’s head was during that album but I love it. Therefore, I’m going to take your advice, and I ordered a copy of Miss O’Donovan‘s version of Nebraska. Very excited to hear it and I’m sure it’ll be great. Thanks for the tip. And good luck on fatherhood. P.S. I am with you on record store day, I doubt I’ll ever do another one.

As you say, if one doesn’t “need” records or they aren’t that important… isn’t a rant about RSD not necessary? 😄 The MM&W was my biggest want. I listened to it, and it sounds pretty great for that much music on one LP. Congrats on becoming a dad, Isaac!
@blindislind7485 Жыл бұрын
I totally see where you are coming from; I rarely say anything about these sort of subject matters that bother me. However, I just feel like consumers are being taken advantage of by blatant over marketing and over pricing. It will be the last time I ever have a rant like this, but I respect where your counterpoint is coming from. Thank you for the congratulations! Very excited
@fizzlebomber674 Жыл бұрын
this RSD thing is getting worse every year and it's not like the list is even that good to begin with, it kinda blows. Out of a couple hundred, I might want two. You go in not knowing what the hell the record store is going to charge over the suggested retail price.

I'm with you RSD has become nothing more than a greedy vapid expression piggish consumerism and capitalism. Just like Black Friday.It's a cash grab for labels shitting out a bunch of filler throwaway releases from tired legacy acts that no one wanted or needed until they saw "the list" and got fomo. The Swifities won't step foot in in record stores until next RSD when Taylor Swift drops some other "must have""limited" release. It's not like they are gonna stick around and discover Captain Beefheart , Sonic Youth and Kraftwerk. Here the kicker, it's really just one good day for these record stores because guess what? most of those RSD releases sit rotting in clearance bins at a loss to the stores. For every "must have" release that sells out, there are at least 15-20 releases that no one cares about and no one buys...

Glad you like Budokan.. Dylan ! And it sounds like you are down with Las Vegas Lounge singers as well ! I mean.. there is Bennett, Sinatra, Tom Jones, Elvis, Ella, Sarah Vaughan ( Flamingo Hotel 1960's ). Terry Reid's wife is a good friend of mine.. He is living in Scotland.. I believe, right now, although he travels over to LA when he misses all of the action ! Best Live Dead Album.. cool that you got a copy ! I like your taste.. ✌

I listened to your "Morning Dew" suggestion off of Fillmore West 1969.. The Bill Graham intro gave me chills ! I used to see him at shows in the bay area, very intense cat ! Epic version of "Morning Dew" and congrats on getting this.. I have the Cd set.. which is good enough ! Back in the day.. we would have our soundboard tapes, mine from Dan Healy himself.. so my Dick's Picks, and Dave"s Picks are fine, and like you say.. whatever vinyl I have is cool, because there are just TONS of shows !! Right !! LoL ! Awesome pick ups otherwise..

Hey there ! Did you go to Zia as well in Las Vegas ? good to hear you are getting into The Dead ! My older sister was at the "Anthem Of The Sun" show in Kings Beach, Ca (1968 ) Lake Tahoe.. She brought the hand bill poster of the iconic show home, and gave it to me !! As a 12 year kid I hung it on my wall with all of my other football pics ! LoL !! Check out 10/10/80 Warfield Theatre 2nd set.. not the acoustic 1st set, and pay attention to the Jack Straw> Scarlet > Fire On The Mountain !! it's only available as a free share online.. one of my all-time favorites ! Good video.. please let me know what you think, if you get around to it. Cheers JT

Hey thanks for this video. I don't often see Jonathan Richman get the attention he deserves so often in music circles and I vouch for anyone who appreciates his material, especially his solo albums. I've been lucky enough to see Jonathan Richman perform live once, around 2018 or so, and I fully recommend it. He just has such a unique and authentic presence on stage that is hard to replicate anywhere else. If you want to catch a glimpse of what Jonathan is like live, check out "Having a Party With Jonathan Richman". The album is the predecessor to "I, Jonathan" so they're pretty similar, but features some live tracks too which makes it standout more. And also "Modern Lovers 88" is a great album too!

Good Friday evening Isaac. Seems that whenever the name Terry Reed gets brought up so does the Mighty Blimp. That's not a knock on you bringing it up at all. Its just crazy how so many of us relate Terry Reed to the {in my humble opinion} the greatest late sixties/early seventies rock band on the planet. That is a pretty decent listen. Listen to his vocals and then listen to Chris Robinson from the Black Crowes. Very similar. >< I really like the version of Soul Man from the Sweet Charles album. Not an easy album to find. I guess you could call that a funk rarity. >< Solid gifts from your friend. Did you say that was a Dead live album from 1969? I am not familiar with it. <> Ptah, the El Daoud, dynamite!!!~ Rob/Boston
