I thank all of the Combat Veterans who served our country in a war. Their service to our Country is one that has no price. I served in the Army during Peace time and never served in combat. I have family heritage from the Ukraine and I wanted to serve as a Ukranian Volunteer fighter. God Bless all those who answered their nations call to fight 🙏.

I am a proud U.S. Navy veteran, served from 1963 to 1967, during the Vietnam War era. The following incident happened at least twenty years ago on Veterans Day, which would have made me around sixty years old at the time. I was exiting a Hess gas station in upstate NY, while holding the door open for an elderly woman, and maybe because it was Veterans Day, she asked me if I was a veteran. I nodded, and she replied with “Thank you for your service” My response was “Well, I didn't do much, I'm not combat veteran” and she came back with “That doesn't matter”. To me, it did matter, most of my fours years was on the USS Wright (CC-2), a ship whose home port was in peaceful and safe Norfolk, Virginia. While halfway around the world thousands of my military brothers were putting their lives on the line. Here is the sad reality; over 58,000 of our American heroes were killed, in addition there were 766 POWs, and 114 of them never made it home, for they died while in VC prisoner of war camps. Shame on us if we ever forget to honor those brave American souls. Two Footnotes: 1. The price of gas at the fore mentioned Hess station was $2.30 per gallon. 2. July 18th, 2015: DT “John McCain is only a hero because he got captured, I like people who didn't get captured”. SOB

I am a navy veteran and have seen my shipmates pay the ultimate price killed by enemy gun fire. It's ashame we live in a world we're this happens and let's not forget we are the only free country that honors their military. France,Italy, Germany, Israel,England, Spain, and us. Maybe someday we can all live in peace and would make this veteran very happy.

How Many Tears Have Fallen Tears so many have fallen Through the years for the Greatest Nation ever Tears for life liberty the pursuit of happiness For a free world Tears for the sons and daughters that never returned home Warrior soldiers all Tears wiped from the cheeks of so many wives Shed by the children with only faint memories Tears behind the mother's veil On father's handkerchief Tears at the base of the white stone That wet the flowers and flags Tears at the sound of taps played in the distance For the memories of buddies Tears at the sight and sound of dog tags boots Empty Tears when the aircraft flyover Stars shining brightly Tears as the ships sail Anchors aweigh Tears for those that patrol Guard the dark nights alone Tears at roll call With no reply to a name called How many tears have fallen Bless Them All Barry 5/30/2021

It is my honor to be a Vietnam Veteran since 1971, year in which I served a tour in war-torn Vietnam. I was born in Chile in 1943, and I legally immigrated to United States back on December 14, 1962, to join my father who had legally immigrated into New York City in 1960. As well as I can remember, I always admired this great nation, and so did my parents back in the old country. My parents so much admired the USA, that shortly after I was born in Santiago, Chile, I was registered with the name Washington as a first name. Eventually I was called Wally as my nickname for always. Shortly after my arrival into this great nation, I was employed by Bank of London & South America, Limited, New York City, New York, where I worked until I received the famous draft letter with a subway token affixed to it, and on August 25, 1966, I was sworn in as a soldier of the United States Army. Before I completed my two-year tour, I got married (to a young Chilean lady) and together eventually we decided to reenlist and make the US Army a career. When I reenlisted (at the end of my two-year tour) I had already reached the rank of Seargent E-5. These actions obviously ended my banking career (in those days of war, the law required most employers to hold your job for the two years of your Army service). When I was sent to Vietnam in the beginning of January 1971, I had already been promoted to Staff Sergeant (E-6) and I was still a Chilean citizen. I was a Legal Allien, carrying a green card and an US Army Identification Card. I also carried my Chilean Passport with me into Vietnam, just in case I should need it. After being processed in country, I was sent to Camp Eagle and assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry, of the 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile). Shortly thereafter was sent to the Combat Base at Khe Sanh, where the Incursion to Laos, Operation Lam Som 719, had already started. I stayed at Khe Sanh until the end of that operation (late March 1971). It was a great experience and a wake-up call to something different, bloody and ugly, something much like a strange experience of humanity and inhumanity. When I returned to the States, I continued my military career and eventually I was appointed an Army Warrant Officer (WO1) at the very beginning of 1976. Before I retired from the US Army at the end of September 1995, I had already reached the rank of Chief Warrant Officer Four (CW4), completed a tour in Korea, two tours in Germany, two tours in Panama, where in the last tour I became a Veteran again, for having taken part in the Panama invasion (end of December 1989) during Operation “Just Cause” That time the Army kept me in Panama due to my career experience in Logistics, and my knowledge of the country (due to my first tour), and total knowledge of the Spanish language. Before my second tour in Panama (Just Cause), I became a United States citizen on July 9, 1987. When I retired the 30th of September 1995, I took with me my eternal love and loyalty to the United States Army and the United States of America. I took with me the pride of twenty-seven decoration for service and achievements and became a retired Army Veteran (The honor of my life). Now, at age 82 (almost), I’m ready and available to a recall to serve in whatever capacity the US Army and the nation may deem necessary or applicable in the times to come.

5.21.2024 Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for honoring and mourning the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. What not to do on Memorial Day? Don't wish anyone a “Happy Memorial Day” This is not Christmas - Memorial Day was not founded in joy with the promise of bringing glee each year. ... Don't thank the current troops. ... Don't disregard its importance. ... Don't forget it exists. ... Don't let politics keep you from rendering respect. // This day is our day of Remeberance for all of the men, women, young men who have gone before us in Battle to fight and keep Our Republic, the United States of America FREE from tyranny. To Aide all people around the globe to bring them Freedom and Liberty. Millions of our men and women in the military are gone now, who fought wars here and abroad. Let us never ever forget their sacrifices and what they fought for. "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." (John 15:13) Memoria De valens vivat tamque vestry("Your Memory Lives On") Requiescat in pace Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. +

What grinds my gears, is these veterans that say they were fighting for my freedom. No, no you weren't. You were fighting for a paycheck. You were nowhere to be found when your state pointed it's guns at me and sent me to prison on a false conviction. Not a single one of them there to defend my freedom. Not a single one there either, to give me a ride home when I won my appeal... and walked out the front door.. 1000 days later. No, no veteran ever defended my freedom. I defended my freedom myself. Against your state. And you.

I'm so sorry. Parents quit teaching and then the schools did too. My son was raised with respect and administration for any and all military personnel and LEOs. So sad that they will never truly know the whole history of our country. I appreciate you and what you did for our country. There is no way I could ever begin to say thank you enough. Please know there are people out there that truly love you and that we do know what you did and we can't be any prouder of you and your brothers. Thank you again and I am so sorry that these little snots have no clue

@@aliciaedmondson7641 Thank you for your kind words. I am a Vietnam Veteran & it took 25 years before anybody said “Welcome Home” to me. And if I mentioned PTSD, people acted like I was a leper. During the Vietnam war, good soldiers were betrayed by gutless politicians; the war was run by a bunch of four star clowns who wound up giving the whole circus away. I am a grumpy Vietnam Veteran. Dark humor, biting insults & sarcasm are my coping mechanisms. Fighting in Vietnam ruined my outlook on life forever, hell it ruined my life forever. The freedoms you surrender today, are the freedoms your children will never know existed. Conflicts are for pussies, real men fight wars! But, we are raising a generation of wimps! Can you remember who you were before the world told you who you should be? I say again. The Gen-Z wimps will be the downfall of the America I fought for & some of my buddies died for. Have you seen their asinine videos of them saying, I’m not going to go if I get drafted? HA! Dodging the draft is a crime punishable by 5 years in prison and/or a $250,000.00 fine, let’s see how they’ll laugh that off. Thank you again for your kind words, it’s nice to know there’s hope out there. 🎖💜♠️🪖🇺🇸
