@@TroySpringer11If you go to bed bath and beyond’s website and search for “shoe rack” it’s actually the first result. It comes with covers that you can close over the shoes, but I did t put those on, because I want to see them. You can also fit double the amount in it if you don’t face the shoes sideways. But again, I want to see them. Also, with my size 12 shoes, two pairs actually don’t fit next to each other in one space.

The gusset is abit tight for my high instep toes. Unlike other brands where it was stitched to the bottom. This one was stitched halfway through the side wall.

Yes, that is a strange way to do a gusset. It wasn’t an issue for me but I’m sure that you won’t be alone in that. It’s hard to find a shoe that fits everyone’s foot well.

OK this is possibly a more meaningful critique than the Felitti heel compression that disturbs me. I assume anyone considering this shoe is also considering other brands. Comparing it to other manufacturer's analogous models is more meaningful than just comparing to an older version of the same thing. How is this compared against the other shoes you have in this category, such as the models that are similar weight?
@runwithsean
@runwithsean 8 күн бұрын
I will compare it to those other shoes. This was my first impression review after wearing the shoe for the first time. As I said in the video, I need to put it through more types of runs and match it up head to head with those other models. I couldn’t do all of those things on my first run in the shoe. Additional comparison videos will be coming as I run more in the shoe. I do currently have other videos on my channel comparing the Saucony Endorphin Pro 4, ASICS Metaspeed Edge Paris, Adios Pro 3, and Puma Deviate Elite 3. I also matched up the Saucony Endorphin Elite and Hoka Rocket X 2. I also have a review on the NB SC Elite 4. Without matching them up head to head, my first impression is this shoe feels the most like the Puma Deviate Elite 3 of those listed. It’s light and bouncy and the foam feels similar. But the Adidas foam is softer and the rocker is more aggressive. I’ll take out the ASICS, Puma and this shoe soon and run them back to back for a better comparison.

I would rethink the heel squish maneuver. Really a bummer to see. Alex Felitti has that nonsense pretty well covered. I have to think anyone wanting to watch that will tune into him. I avoid the clown. I don't need proof that he weighs over 200 lbs.
@runwithsean
@runwithsean 8 күн бұрын
That’s more of just a visual way of showing that the foam is soft. Not really trying to prove or show anything other than that. I am a larger runner at 6’4’’ 230 pounds. But it will compress like that for a 100 pound runner as well. A lot of these newer superfoams have that large amount of compression, but it also comes with a lot of energy return. However, when running it it, the shoe did not feel like it was compressing as much. When you walk in it or run slowly, you can feel how soft it is. But the foam feels great at its intended pace. I’m curious to see how it does on a longer run or if it proves too soft for me to run a marathon in. Time will tell.

@@runwithsean Great idea comparing it to those models, which is to say, the shoes it competes with. Too many reviewers - I just watched one yesterday talking about AP4 - compare new shoes to the last version of the same model. There are many out there comparing Nimbus 25 vs. Nimbus 26, or Novablast 4 to Novablast 5, or yes, Adios Pro 3 vs Adios Pro. 4. This does not help us. We are not deciding between brand new editions and old, discontinued ones. We are deciding between shoes that exist and are available at the same time. In the case of this shoe, that includes those you mentioned. I look forward to that content!

Great video, very informative. I appreciate your review of the Pro 3 followed by a comparison. It’s crazy how long it’s been since the 3 came out. I am currently on my third pair of the 3, I’ve really enjoyed them! I agree with all your comments about them. It’ll be interesting to see how the 4 does in the long term. Lighter, better upper and new aggressive rocker. All good things on paper. It’s the new foam that I am concerned about. Both the softness and durability. Bought this and after doing a 5k ended up with bad knee pain and what feels like shin splints .. could this shoe be a contributing factor? Its heel feels very high compared to my previous asics shoe
@runwithsean
@runwithsean 23 күн бұрын
I agree that the heel feels high in this shoe. Nike states that it’s a 10 mm drop, but it does feel higher than that to me. Are you a heel striker, mid or fore foot? Shoes with a high drop will work better for heel strikers. I think this shoe would also work for mid foot strikers, but fore foot strikers will most likely be uncomfortable in this shoe. What ASICS shoe were you running in prior to this one? Do you know what the drop of that shoe was? If you are used to running in a low drop shoe and switch to a high drop shoe, or vise versa, that could result in shin splints or pain in your calves or Achilles, since the drop of the shoe can put a strain on different areas. They can also result from a rapid change in running volume or effort. What I mean by that is, if someone usually runs 20 miles in a week and then ups their mileage to 40, they could get shin splints or another over use injury. Similarly, if someone usually runs 8 minute miles all the time, and then tries to run much faster in a 5k, without doing speed training prior to that, that can also result in injury. You can adjust to a different drop with additional use. People often experience that if they try going to a zero drop shoe if they are used to running in shoes with an 8 or 10 mm drop. There will be initial discomfort, but then your body can adjust the more you use a shoe. So if you keep running in this shoe, it may get more comfortable and stop causing issues. I run in so many different shoes, with drops that are all over the place. So I generally don’t have an issue going between them. But I prefer a higher drop shoe for easy runs and daily miles (8-10 mm), as I’m often landing more midfoot to heel when running slower. I like my race shoes the have a little bit lower drop to encourage a faster turnover (more like 6-8 mm). I’ve run in some shoes with a 4 mm drop that have worked for me if they have a good rocker design. But if I were to run in a zero drop shoe, I’d probably experience similar issues to what you were describing.

wow thanks so much for your informative feedback and insight @runwithsean Im actually not too sure but i think i tend to be more of a front foot striker, for the most. I heard even with heel strikers using proper heel drops, the heel strike alone could possible cause knee hip and back problems in the long run (probably pun intended! 😆) i found the nikes to be extremely comfortable for walking- for some reason In heel strike when walking? I must say I ran 3ish km again in the Nikes and the second time around knee pain isnt as bad as the first time so hoping it resolves with use but also hoping the stories about knee hip and back issues arent a thing with these - i like your idea of changing it up between the different heel drops!! Now id need a shoe for in between these two. I mostly run in road, between 3-6km per session and around 4 times a week. I was wearing Asics Jolt 4, it felt feather light, must say I didnt do much reserve before buying any of these shoes - lesson learnt! Now on to the next one - for road running, not big heel drop and for knee pain! Bonus if waterproof (for winter here in Ireland!) thanks again so much, really appreciate your time getting back to me!

@@e_wkyMy point was that different shoes are designed for different reasons, just like clothing. So a winter coat is great when it’s cold but not in the summer. It’s not designed to be both. That is the case with running shoes for winter. If they are warm and water proof, like a thick coat, you wouldn’t wear them to the beach. You can’t take off the shoe’s upper and replace it with a thin breathable one in the summer.

I really liked the Deviate Nitro 2. If I did it again, I may have gone with the Puma. But I haven’t run in that shoe to give an assessment of it. The Nike is a good shoe. And it will handle the type of runs that I’m looking to do in it very well. I just prefer shoes that are lighter and more explosive overall. It will allow me to keep my easy runs easy though. Found your channel recently and have been liking your videos on how you evaluate shoes and it feels like its coming from a real place rather than watching all the corporate reviews. I am doing my first marathon in 10 days in NYC and i've been testing shoes just like you. I ordered EP4, and the very next day Adidas drops the sale and i got your same color way. I also have SB2 but have decided it wont be my race shoe with similar opininos like yours. Good for training but not for race. I have done 18 miles run in AP3 and a 21 miler in EP4. I was so far thinking i'll use EP4 because i've been reding or seeing videos about them a lot more than AP3, althhough from my runs and stas I've been faster in AP3 than EP4 for the 18+ miles run. I am going to try the AP3 one last time in a 10K race this saturday. May be i'll take the same decision as you. But what are your thoughts about using AP3 vs EP4 for 4:30ish marathon, it may be even more with NYC hills.

@runwithsean
@runwithsean 2 ай бұрын
Thanks. I buy all of my own shoes and am legitimately deciding how I feel about them myself when running in them. I'm a decent runner, but no where near an elite or sub-elite. So my thoughts can often help people looking to run paces of mere mortals (like myself). Haha. Best of luck in your first marathon! It makes sense that you don't see many videos for the AP3 lately. That shoe has been out for over 2 years. Adidas only recently announced the AP4, which will launch in January. So everybody has run in and given opinions on the AP3 a while ago. That doesn't take away from the quality of the shoe. But it's not the newest, shiniest object these days. Every brand has come out with a new version of the supershoe that they had out when the AP3 was new. I actually really like the NB Elite V4 for training and long runs. But it just doesn't feel like a race day shoe to me. If I paid full price for that shoe and expected it to be a race shoe on par with other shoes priced at $250, I'd have been very disappointed. It feels great to run in. It's just not fast enough for me. If I was going to take it easy in a marathon and not try to push the pace, that would be a good choice for me. But for $250, I think it doesn't deliver as a race shoe. It's comfortable and bouncy, but doesn't feel efficient or fast. I have 70 miles in my Endorphin Pro 4s. I put 146 miles on my first pair of AP3's. I now have 54 miles on the new pair, that I bought for the Marathon. I really like both shoes. Having all that experience in the AP3 gave me more confidence to wear that one on race day. Once I decided that was my marathon shoe, I started running some marathon paced long runs in the old pair. And it still feels great after 2 years and close to 150 miles. That shoe has great durability and grip. To me, the AP3 feels stiffer and more propulsive. But the EP4 feels bouncier and has a nice roll to it. They both are on the wider side for a supershoe. So I like the stability that I get from both. If you are shooting for a 4:30, you are going to be in this shoe for a while. So the best advise is often to pick the one that you feel most comfortable in. If either shoe has given you blisters or rubbing, or you've felt more beat up after a long run in it, then I'd go for the other. You also want to think about if things get hard at the end of the race and you need to slow down, which shoe you think can handle those slower paces better for you. I've personally found that I can run easy in both of them. But I find the AP3 a little more aggressive and the EP4 a bit more accommodating at lower speed. The NYC marathon is a great event. There is so much crowd support to keep you going. Be warned, the worst part for me was the Queensborough Bridge. You will have just passed the half marathon and now you have to tackle the incline of the bridge, with no one to cheer you on at that point. Unfortunately, I had the hottest day in the history of the event when I ran it. So it was a tough day for me. Hopefully you have some nice cool weather and go out and smash it. Let me know how it goes and which shoe you go with.

Is the Foam on par with the Saucony Elite HG Foam? Im searching for a Super Shoe with more Grip in Wet Weather. The Adios Pro 3 is a good Shoe but no Special fast for me. The Saucony Elite is great very fast and aggressive but the Grip on Wet Weather is very Bad (slippery) Puma Shoes have Great Traction so im Interesting.
@runwithsean
@runwithsean 2 ай бұрын
The grip is very good with this shoe, as usual with Puma (as you stated). However, the feel of this shoe is much different than the Endorphin Elite. PWR Run HG is a much firmer, responsive foam. The Endorphin Elite also feels much stiffer and more aggressive than the Puma shoe. It has more of a propulsive roll to it and a stronger toe off. It also has a wider mid foot and heel, with more room in the upper. The foam in the Puma shoe is much softer and bouncier. It’s also a narrower, tighter fit. It’s lighter than the Endorphin Elite and has more of a comfortable, forgiving ride. But I feel like its main attributes are its lightness and bounce. It’s not as aggressive overall. So the fit and feel of these two shoes really is pretty different. If you are a big fan of the way that the Endorphin Elite fits and feels, you may find the Puma too soft and narrow. They are both really good shoes. But definitely very different. The Grip on the Saucony Pro 4 is much improved. But that’s also a less aggressive feel than the Elite. It looks like Adidas made some big changes to the AP4. It’s got a new upper, it’s lighter, softer and they changed the rocker point in the shoe to make it more aggressive. But that one doesn’t come out until January I believe. Have you looked into the ASICS Metaspeed Paris shoes? I have the Edge Paris. It’s one of my fastest most aggressive shoes. So I’d put that in the same tier as the Endorphin Elite for performance. I would say that it has better grip than the Saucony. It’s also a narrow shoe. But the feel of that one is closer to the Endorphin Elite, but with better grip.

Thanks! I didn't quite get sub 3:20. But I got close and still got a new PB. So I'm happy with that. I was right where I needed to be at the half marathon mark. I had some knee pain towards the end of the race that slowed me down a bit. I made sure to enjoy it though this time and high five everyone with their hand out and hit a bunch of power up signs along the way. It was a great day overall.

I want to try these. Because i cant handle my buds for a long period they kind of start to itch after a while. I know im gonna sacrifice some quality sound but i really want to try these for many reasons. Seem more comfortable than in ear. Much more stable they dont look they could fall from your ear at any time. Less earwax accumulation in our ears on the earbuds. I will look for the ones which sacrifice sound the least but really interested on trying them on. Just indecicisive between these gogree 02 or truefree 02( the ones with orange and grey).
@runwithsean

I think that the sound quality of the GoFree 2 is better than the Truefree 2. The design of them is almost identical. But I'd give the edge in sound to the soundpeats. They are having a big sale for primeday. So take a look on Amazon today and you may be able to get a really good deal. It looks like the Gofree2 are reduced from $59.99 to $47.98 right now.

@@runwithsean thanks so much, will go with gofree. Do you think this type of buds will resolve my problems of earwax accumulation, and will stay better when I run on the treadmill? not gonna throw away my regular buds still gonna be better on airplanes for watching a movie ir on the go when I wanna have a pair of ear buds on my purse for just in case. I want the go free to work out and sometimes to wear at home while watching a movie. Have replaced your in ear buds for these types ?
@runwithsean
@runwithsean 2 ай бұрын
@@sarizonana I still have both as well. I usually wear my Air Pods Pro for sitting at my desk, making calls around the house, and planes (where I don't want to hear anything around me). But I never wear them for running anymore. I much prefer these types of headphones that sit outside your ear for comfort when working out. They are not as good at noise cancellation, but that's also kind of the point. You are still able to hear what is going on around you (for safety) when you are using these outside. But if you are going to be moving the lawn, you're going to hear more of that as well. The Gofree 2's manage to have pretty good sound quality while also giving you the comfort of that open ear design.

@@runwithsean thanks so much, I’ll get the go free and still use my buds Fe lol. actually even at home I kind of like to be aware of other sounds. So for home and working out will reach for the gofree and my purse buds will be galaxy Fe. I like apple too but went with Samsung because my phone is Samsung, do you think Apple and Samsung will ever do something like the go free. ? Jbl and Sony did. The JBL look pretty cool but more high end the Sony ones didn’t like them much they look quite bulky. So it’s weird Samsung and Apple haven’t jumped the open ear trend. The buds 3 or air pods 4 don’t count on jumping this trend but do you they will do something like this trend, I kind of hope they do jump on this. I think it’s not just a fad open ear I believe they are to stay. Anyway strange Samsung didn’t follow with the on ear headphones like the Beats Solo AirPods Max. Sony and and again Jbl went for it. So Samsung is missing the big headphones party and the open ears while Apple is only missing the open ear party. Surprised they haven’t extended their headphones range. I want them bad to join this new whole open ear buds. As I say the galaxy buds 3 and AirPods 4 don’t count. Huawei at least came up with their open ears with the Huawei clips similar to the Bose ones.

What the best in 5km race?
@runwithsean
@runwithsean 2 ай бұрын
From the current shoes on the market, I think that this shoe (the ASICS Metaspeed Edge Paris) is the best race shoe for a 5k. I used to lean towards the Vaporfly 2 or ADIDAS Takumi Sen 8. But this shoe is lighter than both of those and even more explosive. It’s on the narrow side and has a tight fitting upper. But as long as someone doesn’t have a wide foot and doesn’t suffer from a lot of over pronation, this shoe is the best one I’ve tried.

You definitely could. It’s very durable and has great traction. But I wouldn’t really recommend it. It’s a light fast shoe. But it’s very narrow, with a tight fitting upper and the foam is on the firm side. For a daily shoe, I’d want something a bit more comfortable. This would be like daily driving a Ferrari. You could do it. But sitting in traffic, I’d rather be in a BMW.

great video, stumbled across this review & really enjoyed it. I am a slower runner (23min 5k, 1:55 HM) & this shoe is my first carbon plated shoe. I totally agree that this is a "friendly" shoe & a good introduction to carbon plated super shoes, although I can't compare it to any others, it just felt really comfortable when I run in it. I really like how soft & bouncy it is. Will use it for a HM in November. I just bought the Superblast v2 for my long runs but find them a bit too firm for me, I consider myself a heavier runner (82kg - 180lbs & 5ft 7) so I kind of wish I went for the NB Balos - I didnt want to go for a plated shoe for long / easy runs. But the SB v2 will do & I will get used to it. Will go through some of your other videos soon, & subscribed. Cheers

Great video as always, appreciate the info. I agree with all your thoughts on the shoes you mentioned. I now have about 40 miles in the Metaspeed Sky Paris. Love them, super fast. I would race them 5k, 10k and probably a half. Nothing higher. I also have about 25 miles in the Superblast 2. They took a few runs, but now are broken in and excellent for slow or steady pace. I wouldn’t choose them for speed work or races, but they can soak up miles in marathons block training. My next race is a half marathon 11/3. I’ll be wearing a new pair of Adidas Pro 3. Love the light strike pro! Good luck in Chicago and glad you’re going with a shoe you have confidence to wear. You’ll crush it! 🙌

I’m 100% with you on the Paris. If I was going for a PB in the half marathon, I’d use them for that. But wouldn’t take them longer. I have 105 miles in the Superblast 2 now. I’ve used them for a lot of long runs in this training block. I share your thoughts on that shoe as well. It’s a long run champion but I wouldn’t use them for racing. You hear everywhere people saying “nothing new on race day.” I’ve tested out my gear for the race on long runs, know what gels I’m using, etc. I think it makes the most sense to go with the tried and true AP3. I have questions about taking the ASICS, Puma or Saucony 26.2. So I figure, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I know that Lightstike Pro softens up a bit with some break in. I put 29 miles into my new pair of AP3s in some marathon paced long runs. Now they will sit on the shelf, waiting for race day. My fitness is feeling on point right now. I’m hoping that it all comes together this time. Good luck in your race!

I feel my fitness is on point as well, looking for a PR in Nov. My A race is Mountain to Beaches in April. It’s a net downhill race many people use to BQ. I saw BITR video on Adidas Pro 4. Sounds like it’ll have a lot of changes. I will consider picking up 1 or 2 pairs of the Pro 3 if I can find a discount, big changes don’t always lead to a better shoe. Last, don’t feel bad about your stalk and pounce race strategy. We’ve all done it and had it done to us. It’s racing, rules are there are no rules. 😆

When I was considering getting a new pair they had one in my size for 50% off. $125 for a new AP3 is a steal. Hopefully they'll have more sales on the 3 when the 4 comes out.
