How does it deal with tannin stained water? I have a ceramic pump style filter that gets plugged very fast when filtering stained water.

It works great! Some of the colour might come through but the tannins aren't very harmful.

No. For saltwater I would look into the 12v mini-desalinization units that people get for sailboats.

Is your 410 a 2 1/2? If so, even though it’s a bit of a pain in the keaster, you can always break them down and use them to reload. All of the components come out pretty easily, even the primer. You can push shotgun primers out from the inside of the shell with a punch because of how they are made. Take a look at one of your fired shells and punch out the old primer and you’ll see what I mean. If you take your time and have a little patience you can make all of the tools you need to reload then pretty cheaply and by hand. Some wooden doweling, a punch and a piece of pipe to hold the shell while you roll the end of the shell and push it closed with the dowel. Give it a few good taps and it’ll stay closed just fine. All in all it’s pretty simple, just cut the crimp off the new one and take it apart and reassemble the old one with the components. Shit shells are pretty basic and it won’t take that long to do up a few here and there until you have a new box full.
@OneWildcrafter18 күн бұрын
The problem is, last time I looked, you couldn't get new wads anywhere for .410.
@archer72118 күн бұрын
@ - wads? or shotcups? - ‘wads’ can be made with a punch made from a piece of pipe by sharpening the end and using a hammer, push the wad out of the pipe with a dowel. ‘Shot cups’ if you pull them from the other shells you can reuse ‘ALL’ of the components. Shot cups can be trimmed with a pair of scissors and inserted into the old shells using a dowel also.

I have RACOONS in the ceilings of my house (1885 ) and I am 73 years old and the Goddam $@&$#*'@?!&@#$ have had a few goes at me and I have even woke up to one in bed with me and the flea's and them shitting everywhere in my house 🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠. I'm a old lady and I am crippled and in a wheelchair. It's Cost me over $ 27,000 thousand dollars trying to fix the roof and any holes that the racoons are using to get in the house 🏠🏠🏠🏠 and I have to live on Less than $1,500 hundred dollars a month # water- hydro - gas - food and medicines and I am barely getting by, with nothing left over and sometimes I don't have enough to last me to the end of the month.... Don't feel bad about the racoons, just get rid of them and live a better life......

I think denuding the entire area of native wildlife is a fantastic idea because you choose to be lazy, irresponsible and ignorant.
@OneWildcrafter26 күн бұрын
I think you misunderstand me. I actually do a lot of wildlife conservation on a couple of hundred acres of property. I took all the precautions to keep my chickens safe but the raccoons found a work-around and came back night after night after night. I never trapped the fox, because I'm sure it helps keep my squirrel population down. I have weasel tracks all around my barn but I'm fairly confident that it is more interested to eat rodents than to bother my chickens. These raccoons were intent on destroying my entire flock and they also got into my neighbour's chicken coop as well. I think that once they become chicken predators you have to take measures to remove them. Plus, there are a million (literally) raccoons in Ontario.
@diamondbackecological26 күн бұрын
@OneWildcrafter if you cant build a predator proof coop then maybe you need to go back and play with your Lincoln log set some more.

My Dad’s friend was an avid coon hunter. He trapped them to train his dogs. He got 25 at a daycare in just a few weeks. They are so prolific I don’t think you could even hurt the population if you trapped and hunted them on a continual basis. It is unbelievable how dense they are in some places. Nobody coon hunts anymore which is part of the problem. If electronic calling is legal, you can play raccoon fight next to den trees to get a few.

Tragedy strikes. We had an experience with raccoons a couple years ago. We never had a problem in 7 years, and then one weekend the winter Strom dipped to sub Arctic, And a bunch of raccoons killed a bunch of our chickens. The worst thing, was that they killed dozens of birds, and mostly only ate heads. Left all the meat. It was Tragic. Wouldnt have been so bad, if they had killed a bird to eat, Might have been a couple birds each. Best of luck, recovering from the tragedy.
@OneWildcrafter27 күн бұрын
For some reason, these raccoons took all the bodies away and only left two dead birds behind.

That's a lot of raccoons! I'm not on an agricultural area and we have a low raccoon density. Because of that, it's easy to forget about them until they come out of nowhere and cause you all kinds of grief.
