Ayo cousin ! Is this the Ilicium 500 3,6m ? Have you tried the rod with a popper? What do you think about its durability? Thks! Fan from reunion island

It is the Illicium 3.6m indeed. I have posted a previous video where I am casting a 50g Halco roosta popper with it. The rod is cheap and not durable. It has cheap rings which you have to watch out.

What do you think of the 14000XG for surf fishing
@kevinfishingandcasting
@kevinfishingandcasting Жыл бұрын
I do beach and rock fishing and I don't get inthe surf to cast lures or bait. The reel is sealed even the line roller is sealed however I do mostly casting on land and in the past a lot of casting from the boat. It holds approximately 300yds of PE5 braid and is a reliable and powerful reel to fish 12kg drag no problem. The line lay is outstanding and you rarely have windknots on the spool and I fill my spool to the rim. As all stellas, it is very smooth and the extra high gear helps you to windning any slack and bring bait/lures and fish very quick. I have been using Stellas since the 16000F (first one) and owned over 9 Stellas. For Land based fishing and surfcasting I always use the high gear. I like Stellas and its the second 14000 size XG that I own.

@@kevinfishingandcasting Thanks for that detailed response. i am going to do surfcasting but bait fishing not lures. i am hoping my stella 14k XG will be ok for this type of fishing, casting 6oz lead plus bait with a 15. Assasin Chapionship #5 rod (is a South African rod, low mount), catching edibles, nothing too big. 10Kg range Jacks and snappers
@kevinfishingandcasting
@kevinfishingandcasting Жыл бұрын
@@ShorrockPaul With the lead and rod you are using it should be fine as it is rated to 50lb braid and same should fill the reel to about 330m. Enough line to cast a 150g pkus bait and the size of fish you are targetting and the 15ft rod Assasin Horizon that should put an easy 10KG drag on the set up hauling fish easily from the surf. I use an assassin 12ft reel down as well for medium heavy bait fishing with 80g leads. I've also got a reel up Assassin for popping from the shore rated to 6oz plus bait.
@ShorrockPaul

@@kevinfishingandcasting Thanks for reply, the rod and reel drag will be fine, can handle my target easily, am more concerned about the XG aspect of the reel, if it will be ok for this type fishing due to it being High speed and not a power retrieve. Havent had chance to use the combination yet. Time will tell. will post here once have had chance to wet it. i have bought a Gomexus power handle which is on way , so will be interesting to see what that does for the actual reeling in

Well done Kev. You are the pioneer in long distance lure and bombarda float fishing. You must be casting 200yds plus with a metal jig on a 13ft carp rod. You've opened up a whole new world of possibilities for surf fishing. Well done.

@kevinfishingandcasting Жыл бұрын
Cheers Andrew, you encouraged me to do more KZbin. It is possible that I am going over the 200yds, did not have a chance to get it measured on a field but eventually if I need to get a cast recorded I will do what it takes to make that lure cross that 200yds barrier. I will have to do more vids on the long distance bombarda soon and show the rigs for long distwnce bombarda fishing and my whole set up as well.

Hi, have this rod be used for bronze whaler sharks in Africa?
@kevinfishingandcasting
@kevinfishingandcasting 2 жыл бұрын
I still remember about 20 years ago this rod was featured in the fishing mags. It was brought to Namibia for testing and there were bronze whaler sharks caught on this rod. I have used assasins rods and this rod is more carbon and will fight like mad compared to a glass/carbon rod. You can put enomous pressure with this rod and it will not be forgiving.
@andersonreid6845
@andersonreid6845 Жыл бұрын
@@kevinfishingandcastingthat is pretty awesome for the "cult"rod and fantastic . I might turn it in a South African rod by placing the reel lower on the rod and used for the large sharks such as bullsharks and bronze whaler.
@kevinfishingandcasting
@kevinfishingandcasting Жыл бұрын
@@andersonreid6845 it is fairly straight forward to convert the rod in a low reel position since the butt section does not come with a ring. I have one of mine with an adjustable reel seat which I can move up or down.

Hi Kevin .... how do you compare the casting distance off the ground casting to the pendulum casting? I am overhead caster. I see pendulum needs so many practice and king of dangerous.
@kevinfishingandcasting
@kevinfishingandcasting 3 жыл бұрын
To be honest,.once you learn and aerialised cast you don't do much off the ground work. I cast mostly the overhead for my fishing. I will do some aerialised cast (which is a sort of non exagerated pendulum) when required. Very rare a full pendulum. I remembee in the days I wouls spend most of my days practice in a park with a tennis ball doing the OTG. Barney Wright , showed me the swing of the pendulun in Kessingland and practice that for about 5 session and did one session with a friend Andrew Thong in a park in London. Then it was easy, I practiced for about a month and went to a casting instructor for 1 session only to learn the full tournament cast. All wwrw free and tbey did not take a single penny from me. I then practiced until I could get the cast right. A casting instructor will save you a lot of time and bad habits. The roll over swing was sometjing new to me and pick it up quite easily.

@@kevinfishingandcasting is there a multi version that comes with coasters or did you have to add them yourself?
@kevinfishingandcasting
@kevinfishingandcasting 3 жыл бұрын
@@adbfishing At that time circa 2003 there were 2 version of the RT Axellerator. There was a 13ft6 and a 12ft version. The 12ft version was a fix spool rung rod and was rated to 6oz. The 13ft6 was rated to 8oz and was much more powerful. It was rung for multipliers and was not supplied with coasters. I had to buy a set of breakaway coasters to fit on mine. At that time it was £99. I bought a second one and fitted them with a movable reel seat. Those were enormous.

@@kevinfishingandcasting so did you have to remove the butt of the rod to slide the reel seat off? As i agree that it is quite a beefy reelseat supplied with the 13ft version

@@adbfishing I did not have to as it has no butt ring. After using coasters I'd settle on a set of slide lock reel seat which was much slimer. I have taped them on the shrink tube.

Is it for multipliers or fixed spool?
@kevinfishingandcasting
@kevinfishingandcasting 3 жыл бұрын
The rod is rung for multiplier. There was one at the time which was a 12ft Ron Thompson Axellerator 12ft which was rung for fix spool. However the 12ft fix spool version was far less powerful than the 13.6ft.
