I know times have changed, but this documentary should be watched by every young aspiring coach. So many life lessons here it’s unbelievable.

McIlvanney was such a great writer. I watched this when first aired on TV and two times more here on KZbin and it is brilliant. Remarkable men during remarkable times - true working class heroes - absolutely incredible stories that dramatised films of, would never do justice, but this documentary does do the story justice. Documentaries today are nowhere nearly as well done.

As much as I admire this great Scottish men. Bill Struth. The Great Rangers manager had far better records than Shankly and Stein! Yet his achievements are always over looked. Walter smith has won more as a coach than stein also! Worth mentioning

I loved watching this as a child, especially the gun crews. Tragic though that this film is marred by so many racist and anti-European comments below. What is wrong with people? If something like this, that should be a joyous celebration of national identity, can engender such hatred, maybe it did have to be brought to an end.

Scotland never wanted to win trophies They only played to beat England once a year
@darthpepe29943 жыл бұрын
Having the best managers doesn't guarantee trophies. If you put Sir Alex Ferguson in charge of Yeovil Town for instance he's not going to win European Cups, he's going to take them 1 or 2 leagues above what they're used to but the overwhelming power of the bigger, wealthier clubs will always prevail. Scotland has a population of just 5m, they're not winning World Cups even with the best managers
