It has never been free to walk on the bridge. Maybe you guys just got lucky last time. But since the day it opened in 1929 there's been a fee. The bridge serves no purpose other than a tourist destination to generate money for the city it was the whole reason it was built.

Devils Post Pile in Mammoth CA has a similar Geological structure.

It is a beautiful reservoir, but to drive it in its entirely is a day long drive. You also have to know the road is not paved so most of the time it is a rough road with lots of potholes and washboarding but one of my fav places for camping.

I am a Montana native & we grew up on chokecherries. Only had huckleberries on vacation once. But chokecherry syrup is where it's at 😉😋 Lots to see in Montana.
